  1. I am still on all liquids with the exception of yogurt and soft cheese. I havent eaten those today. I had a very small peice of cheese 3/4 ounce yesterday and it took me an hour to eat it.... that was at 6pm. I didnt have trouble with that. I am nauseated in the morning on an empty sleeve. I drink a little Water and then a few ounces of Decaf coffee. Didnt help. I tried the decaf because its warm. I tried to drink my Protein shake and doesnt feel very good either. I think today is just an off day or something. I havent tried any solid food yet with the exception of a tablespoon of refired Beans (special circumstance and the litte peice of cheese. I think I may be a little dehydrated.

Dehydration will absolutely cause nausea as well as light headedness. I hope you feel better soon...nothing worse than nausea. I tossed out the info from my surgical notebook just as a possiblity. Feel better!

  2. Tammi, Check with your doc and see if you went off an all liquid diet too soon. My doc says the most common cause of problems is rushing the consistency of food. For instance, I will be on watery liquids for 3 weeks before moving to soft foods. This is supposed to give your body time to heal and prevent digestive issues and tearing of incision. My post-op instructions say that nausea is a side effect of overeating as is vomiting.

  3. I am exactly two weeks post op and today I am feeling nauseas. I took the nausea meds and my PPI but nothing has worked. I am at work but its not easy being this queasy...lol. Not really funny. I was better last week than this one. I hope I feel better soon today. I dont want to be nauseated all week. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am on full liquids plus dairy, like cheese, skim milk, cottage cheese, greek yogurt. Thanks.. Tammi

  4. i didnt have a drain at all. i had 5 incisions and all of them are healing very well. they look like cat scratches really. doc used steri strips for them not stiches and im totally stoked because it doesnt look like there will be much of a scar. physically i feel really good. when i drink my food though i get pains for about 10-15 minutes after. i was able to have split pea Soup luke warm tonight though that didnt hurt after. i was very pleased with that. as for Vitamins i got the chewable gummies for kids. i dont care if i have to take more, they taste good and it doesnt hurt going down. i got the chewable Calcium too, a little chalky but not that bad and didnt hurt going down. i still take the lortab but it doesnt really make me feel loopy it just kinda helps with the pain in the tummy, which is really not bad enough to stop me from doing the stuff i want to do.

i have turned lactose intollerant now. i have never had this problem before but noticed it right away when trying dairy products. i get gassy and i have horrible tummy pain. i even feel a little nausea from it. i tried taking lactaid tonight before trying some yogurt smoothie, but it didnt seem to help at all and i ended up getting heart burn really bad afterwards as well. i think i will be laying off the dairy for a long time, at least until i can handle regular non dairy products without the tummy pains.

when did you have your surgery?

  5. I just started the Bariatric Advantage Vitamins they really aren't too bad price wise. I didn't get the post op kit but most of them come in a three month supply. If you don't want to spend that much you can go to that website and copy the ingredients and compare to other Vitamins. I haven't tried the drinks.

I notice that some people refer to Protein drinks as the beverages they use right after surgery. Dr Nicholson told me I would be drinking the very watery beverages for the first 30 days after surgery which I am assuming are the Bariatric Advantage "post-op" drinks. What drinks are you using? And, how did the vitamins go down? Any problems?

  6. The first two weeks are the most miserable. I could not get over the pain in my left side. I shuffled instead of walked, and it was frustrating trying to get fluids in. I'm 5 weeks post op now, and I FEEL AMAZING!! Pain is gone. I'm able to go shopping, work, play with my dog, go for walks, life is normal again! It all gets easier as you progress. I stressed about it the beginning of my 2nd week, thinking I should have already been feeling better. But, we all heal differently. Wishing you lots of luck!!!

    Thanks for the positive feedback!

  7. DallasMom, you definitely need to be taking Vitamins. There's another thread in this forum that talks about what different people take - but basically you'll need a multivitamin (some docs recommend more than 1 a day) and Calcium supplement daily, and B12 once weekly. My doc also wants me to take B1 once weekly. If your multivitamin doesn't have Iron then I'm to take an Iron supplement as well.

I'll be purchasing all of the Vitamins next week. Thanks for the input. I'll ask about B1.

How is your recovery going? It looks like you just recently had surgery.

  8. OMG, when I saw Dr. Nick I immediately thought of the crackpot doctor from the Simpsons! I'm SURE your Dr. Nick is a much better practitioner.

Well, at least he seems to be! ;) My doctor is Dr Nicholson at Baylor. He's the medical director of weightloss surgery at Baylor Plano and the new Forest Park Medical Center...a wonderful guy. Great reputation among other docs here in Dallas.

  9. The surgery is not that bad... Gas is the most painful. I took gas-x but what helped is the suppository. I used children suppository the first week to relieve some discomfort. Also, listen to your stomach when full. Sip gradually and stick to your diet. Just my 2 cent during post op. Best of luck!

Thanks for sharing...every little bit of information helps!

  10. I am only 11 days post op... I will keep you posted. I also worry about the dreaded hair loss and skin sagging. I do take my Vitamins, Calcium, and Protein to prevent Hair loss but what about skin. Will I be able to tone it up in the gym before my big 40 :(

Just had a conversation about hair and skin at dinner tonight! You are so young you should be able to tone up with no problem. How are you feeling otherwise? I'm scheduled for September 6...(BMI 34-197lbs). How did you feel the first week after surgery?
