    April surgeries

So my surgery was the 12th. It went well but it took longer than expected as my lapband didn't want to come out. I had to stay overnight at the hospital. My surgery didn't start till almost 4pm. I have 3 weeks of liquids ahead of me. Looking forward to new adventures!

April 12th - Going from LapBand to Sleeve
  3. I thought I was the only one. I am 27 weeks today and I have gained about 55 pounds. I did have most of my fill removed. I started having problems eating early on in my pregnancy. I gained most of my weight in the First Trimester. I have leveled off to a few pounds a month. I worry about loosing the weight once the baby is born. I am due June 10th. I will have the summer to sweat some of it off and I can swim every day of my maternity leave. But still really worried....

    Life with the Band

Well I have had the band for a few years now. I feel that I have hit my goal. I do need to work out more. I don't get more than a few walks a day with my 4 dogs and the stairs a few times at work. My fiance, who I have been with for 6 year this June, has gotten use to my eating habits. He is a big eater. We use to love to order pizzas, Chinese Food, and all sorts of junk food and eat every bit. He has gotten over having to explain to Servers when they ask if there is anything wrong with the food. We still go out to eat, we just stay away from the buffets now. I wish they would let me pay kid price. I have learned my limits, but I still have days that easy things to eat, are not. I want to say that I have heard people in my life say that they regret getting the surgery. There is not a day that I get up and know that I am healthier and happier. :tt1:I LOVE MY BAND!!!

  6. Its really been a long time since I posted. I can say that I have "hit" my goal and I am happy where I am. My Dr would like me to lose a little more. I feel I just need to work out more to tone up what I have. But here they are....

    Ugh...

I am sorry to hear about your dad. I am at a 2.5 cc. I am down 105lbs. Right now I am stuck as well. I am still loosing inches. I have to buy a new belt, again. I need to get back into an exercise plan. I am having issues getting motivated.
  8. I have a Bowflex Tread Climber, but honestly I am not consistent with it. I do try to stay active. Things like taking the stairs or parking far away from the store for the extra walk. My fiance and sister had a annual pass to Six Flags over Texas. We would go every weekend or so and walk around all day. My diet is exactly what my doctor said...Protein first, veggies second. I started out with the south beach. I watch what I eat and how much I eat. With the band it is easy to do, how much that is. I dont deprive myself either. I eat sweets. But in moderation now.
  9. Everyone is doing great!! Congrats to Everyone!! My original goal was to hit 100lbs lost by my bandaversity. I have already hit that goal. I am down 105. And a little more then a month to go. All anyone has to do is set your mind to it and push thru the hard times. Oh and trust me there will be times that you dont loose. I would get so frustrated. It is your body's way of adjusting to the weight being gone. I would still loose inches, but for a month or so at a time no lbs would come off.

    Port pain after Ab excercises?

I was told no ab crunches or sit-ups. I can do leg lifts. I would talk to your doctor before continuing with the ab exercises.

    Lunch Ideas

I am tired of egg salad. I eat that for breakfast. I have done lunchmeat to death. I have been eating skinless hotdogs with chili and cheese. I have tried a few of the Smart Choice and Lean Cuisine frozen meals, they are not so bad. My Doctor wants me drink my protein shakes. I still havent found a way drink them on a daily basis. I have tried quite a few things. My doctor even supplied recipes to try. I am current mixing a chocolate with a strawberry cheesecake into one shake. It is not so bad. I have gotten to the point where I dont want to eat because I am tired of things that I can eat.

Help I need convinced that I should exercise

I whole-heartedly agree with everyone. I would not have lost this much weight without exercise. When I had the surgery I invested in a BowFlex TreadClimber. When I get on that machine before work in the mornings it makes my day go so much better. It was first hard to drag my butt out of bed in the mornings. It has gotten easier since. I still set new goals for myself and reward myself at these goals. My new goal is to be under 200 before the end of the summer (by Sept 1). I was only doing cardio but now I am going to start some strength training.

    Slime?

What Slime is to me is really thick saliva that looks like slime. Food doesnt always come up when I slime, it is just clear slime. Anything else coming up, with substance (Food), I think of as a pb.

    Drinking Soda

I have been told that soda is not a good thing with the band. Now I am not saying that I have not drank any at all. I will have a can of 7up once in a while. From what I understand it has to do with the carbonation and the band slipping. Talk to your doctor about it too. Some doctors are different about what you absolutely can not have with the band.
  16. I am also having this issue with pain in my left shoulder. I have noticed it for a few different reasons. If I eat too much or get too hungry it happens. If I am driving or sitting for a very long period. Sometimes it does appear out of nowhere. I could see it being gas if I was still a few weeks out from surgery, but I have been banded for almost 4 months now. I also thought that it came from the band sitting on a nerve...it makes sense.

    Happy with Lap Band?

I was asked this question the other day...Heck yes I would have it done again. I just got my second fill this past week. I am down 40 lbs since day of the surgery. I agree sometimes I wish I could eat like I did Pre-band, but we all know that what we did Pre-Band is not healthy. I would not exchange my band for anything...

    what can YOU not eat?

Knock on Wood, I have not had a PB. (I have not had a fill yet though. I am set for my first fill on May 9th, more then two months after my surgery.) I have not had any problems with foods. I take small bites and chew very slowly and thoroughly. Since the surgery my tastes have changed. Not being able to eat a lot makes you want the food that you can eat to be worth it. I use smaller plates and flatware to help with portion control.

    Rubber Girdle

Well I don’t know about a plastic girdle but I know of that old home remedy of preparation h and plastic wrap. You can look it up I am not kidding. I have a friend who swears by it. She does it right before bathing suit season to firm up. Check it out!!!<o:p></o:p>

    February 2007 bandsters!

Don’t beat yourself up. On this past Sunday I had some chocolate covered strawberries. I believe that we are allowed to treat ourselves one a month or so. Compared to what we use to consume on a daily or weekly basis I don’t think it hurts us too much. I am doing well since the surgery. Recently I have been having some sharp pains around the port area. I am not set to see the doctor till May 9th. If they keep up I will make an appointment to have him check and make sure the port is not moving around or anything. I am happy with my weight loss. I have lost 22.5 lbs. When I started eating regular foods, I gained approx 5 lbs back, but those came right off. I am eating a little over 1200 calories a day. I am still waiting for my Bow Flex Tread Climber to arrive. It should be here in about a week. My exercise has been pretty much the stairs at work a few times a day, that’s it.<o>></o>>

:thankyou::thankyou::thankyou::thankyou::thankyou::thankyou::thankyou::thankyou::thankyou: :thankyou: I have been looking for a thread to say this in. I was not able to find one so I figured I would start one. I have only been a member since January 07, but I have learned so much from so many people. This is my first forum that I have been an active member on. Thanks to everyone here I have had a great start onto my Lap Band Journey. I have just learned about you Alex. You are the main person I would like to thank. I have just found out who you are and would like to thank you for creating this little online world for everyone. I would also thank the moderators. Thank you for keeping this little part of the world civil and supportive. Wheetsin you have given me many of laughs. Again this is just to say thanks. Without you guys and LBT I may not of had the surgery or if I did, not doing so well!!! :Banane34::Banane34::mad::Banane34::Banane34::Banane59::Banane34:

    Scar Stages Share yours!

I also have six incisions. One of my incisions is within my belly button so I am not so worried about that scar. My port scar so far is about 2 ½ inches. I was told the more fat you have in that area, the bigger the incision. <o></o> I also had a huge rash all over my chest and tummy. It was from the glue that they put under the steri strips. I was told to take Benedryl and mine went away after taking the pills for a few days.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Wow!! Everyone is doing so well. I am exactly 3 weeks post op today. I am feeling great. I am able to sleep on my side; I do have to have a pillow under me though. I gained a few pounds when I started on soft foods, but they are coming right back off. I am still not eating enough calories. Today I drank a few cups of OJ to consume more calories. I am not able to get my first fill till May 9th!!! I do have my appointment scheduled already. I started to see some of the weight loss in my clothes today. I haven’t jumped sizes as of yet. I am having an issue with squeezing working out in my schedule. I ordered a Tread Climber today. With my schedule I don’t feel comfortable walking outside at the times I have available now. We have a Bowflex and soon to have a new Tread Climber. Now I will not have an excuse to not work out sun or rain. I am glad everyone is doing so great!!!:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:
