  1. I don't work yet. I took care of my mother for three years until she passed away in March and have been so busy doing probate and dealing with her stuff, I don't have time to work, too!

  2. Well, housework consists of doing five minutes of stuff and then sitting down for half an hour, drinking water or protein. I took my first walk since I have been home yesterday and came back sooner than I thought I would. I live in the country and the surfaces are so rough, even in my yard, I am afraid of going out and falling on my butt and busting my stitches!

I did manage to unpack two suitcases, do a load of laundry and sweep the house the day after I got home (5 days out)

    September sleevers wanted!

I had my surgery the 17th and can barely fit in my fat pants and only with the waistband rolled down. Even then, they leave marks! I can't believe how far my belly sticks out but I figure this, too, shall pass I am not in any pain but I can't sleep and I don't know why. I was an insomniac before surgery, but this is different. I have only weighed a couple of times but I know I have lost at least five pounds. Maybe after the swelling goes down, we will at least LOOK like we lost? Linda

    Basic post-op Vitamins

Well, if THAT didn't induce me to go get some, nothing would!:scared0:
  5. So, how are you doing? I feel great except the incision sites are driving me crazy! I am as anxious to get rid of the steri-strips as I was the tape from the pain pump!

I had very little pain and haven't had any gas that hasn't had an exit option and thankfully no nausea! I had plenty of energy too, until the 10 hour drive home. I am just today getting my energy back - sheesh. I haven't done a lot of walking but I have been doing copious amounts of housework. I tried to get the housework caught up before I left but just had so many other things to do.

Continued in the next missive! I hate text limits!

    Had surgery on 9/17

Wow! I had my surgery on the 17th, too, and my experience was so different! I went to a surgical center as an outpatient to have my surgery (here in the states). I let everyone I talked to there know I was super nauseated after my last surgery so they were prepared and I never had to deal with it. I was more afraid of that than any pain. When I first came to after surgery the nurses were there and asked how I was doing. I said kinda pukey and it hurts a little. Boom, IV drugs wiped that out! When I was aware enough to do what they asked me to do, I got up out of bed and walked to a recliner and settled in to have a drink. Some time later (no idea how long since those meds mess with my sense of time), my husband showed up and he and the nurse got me dressed for my walk down the hall. "Look straight ahead and pick up your feet!" Yes, ma'am. We packed up my things and went "home" to the hotel across the street. I had my hubby wheel me up from the parking lot to the room because I had no idea what my stamina would be. I took my liquid hydrocodone and sat for a while - trying to get down the protein drinks and water without going my usual chug chug chug. Then I walked the halls of the hotel (about 400 feet), sat back down for a while and then went to bed. When we got up in the morning bright and early because I was thirsty, I forced hubby downstairs to eat breakfast and I took my laps around the corridor, dodging the snooty little girls volleyball team from San Jose. When my husband got back from breakfast, we tried watching TV but quickly got bored so we decided to go out. We were in Vegas, and, since we don't gamble, drink, smoke or chase loose women, we went shopping. Took more meds, more laps and went to bed. The next day we went to Red Rock National Conservation area and drove around looking to see what we could find in the area. I came back and took a three hour nap after that!!:laugh0: I had my meds and my little pillow so I could do my deep breathing and coughing while I was out, had protein drinks at the ready and ALWAYS had a water bottle in my hands. On Monday, after my surgeon's release, we drove 11 hours and I slept in my own bed and on my side for the first time! Still recovering from that! Everyone seems to have such different requirements after their surgery, it's a wonder we all reach the same place!
  7. I am having surgery the 17th as well. I actually started my diet on the 30th of August - the day I got my date with the surgeon. The day AFTER I baked a huge batch of the most delicious chocolate chip cookies I have ever made and have watched the old man eat (along with potato chips, krullers, ice cream and milkshakes) for two weeks now. I have protein shakes and a lean and green meal each day and have been eating celery sticks like they are going out of style. Yesterday I was just so hawngry, I had my lean and green for lunch instead of supper. It was the first time my mantra of "it's just two weeks and I can do anything for just two weeks" didn't work at all. I drank so much water I thought my back teeth would float. The only cheat I had was adding some sour cream to my ground turkey to make it go down easier. When I watch my hubby eat his junk, a picture of how his liver must look pops into my head and what he is eating becomes disgusting instead of alluring. But I am not close enough to smell what he is eating so that makes it easier to resist, too. I can't imagine how folks who have to have an all liquid diet can make it through!:thumbup1:

    September sleevers wanted!

Hey! My surgery is set for the 17th too! I also have about 120 pounds to lose and am an avid Boop fan (the old man HATES to drive my car:001_tongue:) I couldn't get anyone to come with me to Mexico and refused to go alone, so I am going to Las Vegas. Gonna make a birthday/anniversary trip out of it beforehand because I have no idea how I will feel after the surgery. Although, when I had my hysterectomy, my surgeon said I made having surgery look like a trip to Kmart. Hoping for that kind of experience again - except for the anesthesia making me sick for two days.
