  1. I have the nectar Caribbean cooler, blue sky, fuzzy navel and cappuccino and love them all. I just couldn't do the chocolate anymore (shocking thought for a chocoholic!) and was looking for something new. I bought the cooler one at my doctor's office and liked it so much I got the other three flavors. Now i want the rest! I was putting the cappuccino in my coffee but i guess it was too hot yesterday and it lumped and clumped and was AWFUL! I had to pour it out. Being of depression era parents, that was a hard thing to do without feeling horribly guilty! Not to mention, I didn't get my coffee fix. Sheesh. I have some sprays I bought from sinfully delicious in apple pie, key lime pie, strawberry shortcake and chocolate truffle that i plan to bring with me tonight. It has made watching my husband eat chips, cookies, donuts, ice cream, pizza and fried chicken a lot more bearable. Watching the junk he puts in his mouth makes me sick now where as before, I would be right there with him. At least I have him eating whole grain and low fat when I cook now. And he actually likes the non fat milk (with his froot loops, of course)
  2. Jordien, I have been eating all kinds of cheese for over a week now. Except american cheese - don't like the stats on that! And cheese sticks have been a lifesaver while I have been out. Last night I made scrambled eggs and sausage for the old man. He made the toast and asked me if I wanted some! He has no clue. I put my eggs on laughing cow cheese so it got nice and melty. And I ate most of a small sausage patty and it tasted so good! I stopped counting how many times I chewed each bite after 40. Last week I had tuna with mayo but didn't put the relish in. I have been putting relish in for years and discovered I like it better without. I used to put hard boiled eggs and celery in it too but my husband doesn't like it that way so I had to stop. Last week I blended some leftover pork tenderloin in chicken stock. It wasn't a puree but had very small pieces. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. I get to go to my granddaughter's birthday party tonight and watch everyone eat pizza, cake and ice cream. I plan to bring my nectar fuzzy navel and hope they have some iced tea I can put it in! And before I get jumped on for leading innocents astray, let me reiterate, I AM following my doctors orders and have done nothing to compromise the integrity of my sleeve!
  3. Actually, I am NOT falling off plan and i AM following doctors orders. He told me I could have protein shakes for two weeks and after that, I could have what I wanted. I am following a more cautious plan than he suggested and am in no way shape or form advocating someone follow what I eat. We are eating soft foods, ground meats and nothing near solid food yet.
  4. All my new incisions are midline and to the left side. My old gall bladder incision from 1973 is from my midline down along my right ribcage. The third from the top new incision is right on top of the end of the old scar. Why does my old scar hurt four inches away from there? It stings, but it is only skin deep. I thought all the action was over there on the left side and if instruments strayed off the dance floor, it would hurt UNDER that old scar, not on top. Just musings from someone who had her Click a little too late in the afternoon today...

Why does my old scar hurt?

Thanks for your suggestions, ladies! I have lost weight before and not had this pain and certainly haven't lost enough this time for any sag. The expansion of my belly during surgery sounds the most likely since scar tissue doesn't stretch very well. I tried putting vitamin e oil on it but it hasn't helped so far. <sigh>
  6. Geez, Jordien, are we psychically connected or what? I took the old man to Wendy's this evening so I wouldn't have to cook for him and got their two item meal deal for me- a small chili and an iced tea! I got it with cheese and I ate the whole thing. Chewed it really really well, too. I just finished it a couple of hours ago. I have a little bowl I carry around with me, just in case. Maybe I should take it to bed with me too if your experience is what is going to happen to me! I was floating around the kitchen pining for peanut butter this evening and wishing I could have some on a celery stick. I believe I shall wait until my guinea pig, um, I mean, Jordien tries it

    Whoo! First Post!

I wasn't off the bike long. Two weeks after I had surgery, we took advantage of the unseasonably warm temps and took off for our standard four hour 250 mile ride. I held my belly with one hand and my water bottle with the other. Had some pain from one poorly constructed railroad crossing but, otherwise, I felt great! Since nice but cool weather is predicted for this weekend we are going out again tomorrow (3 weeks out from surgery) Now, if I had to ride my own, that would be a different story! And the Road King is more comfy than my recliner at home, so that helps too

    LEAKS

I never had a Viactiv but don't you chew those up like a caramel? That would make it liquid and not a problem. i have a bariatric advantage calcium chew every day and it is my candy fix so I can ignore those chocolate chip cookies the old man is eating right next to me and swearing they don't taste very good. (he never has lied well enough to fool me)

    Just got home

Looks just like George, except he wasn't clear and resided in a jaunty little fanny pack.

    Just got home

I had a pain ball and carried him with me everywhere. I patted him and held him and called him "George." The instructions I got with it said not to take it out yourself at home but let the doc do it. I had it from Friday to Monday and was never so glad to get rid of an accessory in my life! It itched like crazy! And no matter where I put him, he sat on my stitches. When I went out I wore him like a huge necklace. Got a few looks but I was far away from home, so I didn't care. George was like a pain pump that you didn't have to hit - a smart pain pump.
  11. I have run the gamut from too loose to having to use a dose of miralax (which then turned into way too loose!). I have IBS and before my surgery last month on the 17th, I could go up to six times a day. I guess surgery and liquid diets kinda shock your bowels into misbehaving for a while!

    September sleevers wanted!

I not only have a stall, I gained two pounds and they ain't goin anywhere! And since I only "go" once every three days, I hop on the scale the day after expecting miracles and get a slap in the face. I think I am gonna ask the old man to hide that evil thing

    Progress

Will hopefully contain pictures of me in ever decreasing sizes

    Had a scrambled egg!!!!

Jordien, since you tried it and were okay, I decided to try it but added some Laughing Cow cheese. Lord, do I miss cheese, especially melted cheese. Took me half an hour to get it down and I am jonesing for some juice to wash it down but I ate it all and it was GOOD! It has taken a lot of the fear away of moving to the next stage for me. It was certainly much easier to get down than the greek yogurt I added waaaay too much protein powder to. Interesting trip - never thought I would be afraid to eat!
  15. The other day I measured out a quarter cup of cottage cheese and started eating. First thing I have actually chewed! I got halfway through and felt that I had had quite enough. I can't describe what I felt, but I just knew I had better quit! The nose running thing is something my mom had all her life and I have had for 30 years but it starts the minute we put the first bite in our mouths. I never heard of the sighing and yawning as signs of being full. Wish I could figure out more signs since I have the biggest fear of upchucking!

    September sleevers wanted!

I weighed myself the Tuesday before I left to have surgery on Friday. I wasn't able to weigh myself again on my own scales until the next Tuesday. I had gained six pounds! Three days later I had lost that plus two more. I am still losing, just not at the rapid rate most other folks seem to be doing. Ah well, slow and steady wins the race!
  17. OMG! Could you open your second franchise here?? The closest restaurant to me has one pound hamburgers as its staple item. There are no healthy places around here. There used to be a vegetarian cafe but it didn't fly. The healthiest thing around here are Wendy's salads and they are a long way from what I need to eat now. Maybe I can be your first franchisee!:wink0:

    Few days out

I was laughing my butt off at this. The day after surgery, my husband and I couldn't stand sitting in the hotel room staring at each other, so we went out shopping. Mind you, I wasn't putting a bra on for love nor money and I was wearing a denim dress, crocs, and George my lovely pain pump hanging around my neck. I figured I didn't know anyone in Vegas and was never going back so, what the hey. The only person who approached me was a saleslady. She saw me wandering back and forth among the motorcycle jackets because they had some super cute ones that would fit me RIGHT NOW down to a size small and I was fighting with myself not to buy one then and there!

    Itchy!!

Okay, ladies, I guess no one is going to answer us. I decided to do what I do for my mosquito bites. I gently run a fingernail in circles around the area (confuses the nerve endings, is my theory) and then put something good and cold on there. Gives me relief for about half an hour or less. Not much time, but it does give me a chance to just sit and not have to distract myself!

Wow! I am three days and 10 pounds behind you. Way to go:001_tt1:

How many days in hospital for vsg?

I checked in at the surgery center at 8:30 and was back in my hotel room by 4pm. It really didn't feel too soon for me and it was nice to have a comfy chair and king sized bed to spread out in and get cozy. I was walking laps up and down the corridor at 5 but then, I didn't have a drain and catheter to deal with, just compression socks that rolled down to under my knee that made me hurt worse than the surgery!

    September sleevers wanted!

So how are all the September sleevers? Especially my fellow 17th-ers. This is the first day I woke up with no pain:thumbup: I am a little sore right now from scrubbing the bathroom - except the floor cause that's a LONG way down there!! A sinkful of dirty dishes is calling my name, but a girl's gotta know her limits and I hate doing dishes anyway! My incisions are driving me batshit and I can't keep from peeling a little more of the strips away and scratching under 'em. I am at the point I am glad i had this surgery - especially since my surgeon found cirrhosis and I never would have known I had it until it was too late if someone hadn't been digging around in there!

    Itchy!!

Normal, yeah, but is there anything you can do to keep from scratching like a fiend?

5th day post op cleared by Dr.

I got the same thing from my doc but I am going to continue to take it slow. If I try something and it hurts my belly, I am going to stop. Bad thing is, hubby was there for this release and now thinks all the housework including scrubbing floors is back on the agenda. NOT! If it is on the floor at this point, it will live there until I can get to it without hollerin' ow!

    September sleevers wanted!

Oh, Jordien! I am so glad I am not the only one with WEIRD dreams!:001_tongue: I was wondering if my subconscious mind was telling me I was going crazy. Every time I take Flonase I have humiliating dreams. The docs and pharmacists think I am full of it but it only happens when I take that stuff. They are tapering off finally but what a trip!
