  1. Hey, Maddie. Hope you are doing better with your CPAP. I finally had 3 nights in a row without taking off the mask in the middle of the night. It's been about 3 1/2 weeks for me now and I think I'm finally getting used to it. I was haven't serious doubts at first that I would get used to the CPAP, but finally, I think it's gonna be OK.

  2. I'm not sleeved yet, but I've been mourning the loss of Philly cheese Steaks for 8 years now. We moved to Oklahoma 8 years ago from Pennsylvania and we can't find an authentic Philly Cheese Steak anywhere. I still think about how delicious they are. I guess I'll have to get used to missing many different foods after my surgery. It's gonna be ok though. I guess we'll just have to adjust.

  3. I can truly feel pain. I just got my about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Things are finally getting better. First I had to switch to a different mask. I'm doing better on the new one, but at first I had it on too tight. It's seems like every other nigt I'm still taking the mask of in the middle of the night when I'm mostly asleep. Sometimes if I wake up again, I put it back on.

I had to laugh when I read you post, though. I said almost the same thing to my husband on the 2nd night I had my CPAP. After tears and a mini tantrum I told him that I was just going to stay awake all night. Then there would be no way I could have sleep apnea. - I was so exhausted the first week or so. I definately wasn't getting enough sleep. - Things are not quite where I'd like them to be yet, but it's definately much better.

Good luck - I hope it gets better for you soon.

  4. From what I've been reading, it's not totally the insurance company. (Don't get me wrong, as a rule I'm not a big fan of insurance companies.) I have UHC Choice also, and my plan covers the surgery 90% - no appeal necessary. I think it depends on the contract that your employer sets up with the Insurance Company. Our plan was set up to include the sleeve surgery. I think it all comes down to trying to keep costs down how much money the employer is willing to pay for premiums.

  5. I don't want to get your hope up. But are you sure they won't cover it? I have United Health Care Choice Plus and I just got my insurance approval today!!! Have you tried logging onto your insurance website and looking it up? I know all plans are different, but my surgeon specifically said during our seminar that United Health Care was the only insurance that he knew of that is covering gastric sleeve surgery.

Sending up prayers that the information you received is not correct. Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

  6. I'm sorry that your hubby isn't being supportive. But you definately have support here. My husband has never had a weight problem either. He's been very supportive in words, but in action, he's not there yet. I'm trying to get used to changing certain habits, and he's always offering me the things that I'm trying to eliminate. I don't think he is doing it to be mean, he just doesn't have a clue. He's never needed to think about what he eats or drinks. I think it's hard for someone who has never had a weight issue to truely understand.

I'll still pray for you that your husband becomes more supportive, but in the meantime, I agree with the others here that say, find someone you can lean on for support and plan to make friends here. The people here will KNOW what you're going through.

    Best of luck.
