  1. I got a finger wagging for eating chicken before the 30 day mark. I told Gaby what I was eating in my weekly email/update. She said no chicken/turkey/deil meat until 30 days to make sure the staple line is healing. She said even if I was tolerating it well that I needed to wait until 30 days. Soooooo....I'm back on softs today. Tomorrow makes thirty days. I bought a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich from the Breakfast cart and just ate the eggs and cheese. They tasted like bacon. mmmm...bacon.

I was tempted to not listen to Gaby, but how dumb would I feel if I messed something up even after they told me what to do?

  2. I have done more things that require lifting over the past two days than I have since surgery. I have a 2 yr old so I know how it is that sometimes you don't have much of a choice. Yesterday I had a lot of energy and the baby got a little rambunctious with the play and got on my back like a horsey. Today I went grocery shopping and brought in more groceries than I have in a long time. I have bronchitis so I am coughing a LOT. I am really sore in my midsection and much more tired than I have been in a couple of weeks.

I don't think I have damaged anything. I am able to eat and drink but I have a lot of "bathroom issues" today. I wonder if the movement/exercise got the digestive system going? I figure the soreness is just some exercise

  3. It's true. You don't really "get it" until you live through it. I don't care how many times I have read about people taking pills and getting a stuck feeling. Tonight I decided I was probably far enough out to take my capsules without having to endure the nasty bitter taste any longer...

WRONG! I now have the dreaded lump everyone has talked about. I "get it" now and I know I won't be trying this again any time soon! I think that is part of the brilliance of the sleeve. Even if you don't go to meetings, track your food, exercise, or see another single person about your weight, it WILL make you accountable to yourself long enough to develop good habits. My sleeve is becoming my personal food police!

  4. Going into this I swore I was pretty well prepared, but every day I find something that I didn't think would happen. Little things surprise me every day...my rings fitting again; my watch sliding down my arm; my jeans not squeezing my incisions; how people constantly stare when I am eating...

I haven't hit 30 days yet but I am so excited about the new recipes I will experiment with for me and my family. I am excited that my baby will grow up with a healthy attitude towards food (at least in this house)! laugh.gif

  5. Hey there! A few years ago I had a reduction due to Migraines, back pain, shoulder pain....blah blah blah. I went from an H to a full C. It did take a few months for everything to work itself out with swelling and stitching and stuff. The hardest thing for me to deal with was that my headlights were ALWAYS on for no good reason. They said it had to do with nerve regeneration. I found these little silicone petals/pasties to put over my nipples so I wouldn't take out someone's eye.

Yours look fantastic by the way!

  6. I subscribe to a local food co-op so every two weeks I get a bag of fresh veggies delivered to my door. This week's box had some fresh yellow squash but other than sautee it, I had no idea how to prepare. Since I am on mushies I started looking for a casserole that had a lot of flavor. This is what I found:

2 lbs of squash (could mix with zucchini if you like)

    1 medium onion

1 can cream of mushroom Soup

    2 eggs

    2 cups of cheddar cheese

    1 cup seasoned bread crumbs

Here is where I made some changes...

1 - Slice the squash and onion either steam or boil or sautee until soft. I chose to steam the squash in my microwave steamer until it was soft. I didn't have any onion so I swapped for a packet of onion soup mix.

2 - Drain the squash/onions and mix with the soup, eggs, and cheese. I wanted a really mushy texture so I used one egg and mozzarella cheese. I love garlic so I used a can of cream of mushroom with roasted garlic campbell's soup.

3 - Spread the mixture in a casserole dish (I used 8x8 but I doubt it matters much). Bake on 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

4 - After 25 minutes, sprinkle the bread crumbs over the top and bake for another 20 minutes or until brown. I had plain bread crumbs and seasoned them with onion and herb Mrs. Dash, parsley, and cracked black pepper. I spread them on the casserole and then sprayed them with ICBINB spray.

It was kinda ugly to look at but it was a great flavorful departure from cottage cheese, yogurt, pudding, and applesauce. Plus I used up my squash!

  7. I was sleeved less than a month ago. I am one pound shy of twenty-five pounds gone. I have six days until I move out of "food stages" and into my lifelong eating habits. It hasn't been the easiest ride, but it hasn't been the toughest either. Compared to all the trials and failures of the past 20 years, this is a sugar-free, low-carb cake walk.

Things I couldn't eat last week, I can eat this week. I couldn't tolerate scrambled eggs a few days ago and I had them last night for dinner and today for Breakfast. I made a squash casserole for dinner. My food choices are opening up like a whole new world.

I am so thankful to have this board to turn to when things get tough. I thrive on information and this is certainly the place for it. There are so many people who have walked this path before me and every last one of them is right about their thoughts/opinions/experiences.

This is one of the best things I have ever done for myself.

  8. I guess this is my first real interaction with the medical community not having a good grasp on how our sleeves work. The doc I saw this morning said it would be fine and didn't even offer me a liquid. It's weird because one of the nurses in his office had WLS in April. I got an email back from Dr. Aceves saying that I definitely needed to have something in my stomach when I take the medicine. The applesauce should be used as a way to get the medicine down but not enough to coat my sleeve.

I called the pharmacist and she confirmed that I could crush it because it wasn't a time release or some other big words she used that I can't even attempt to spell.

The pain passed after about 45 minutes and now I am having diarrhea (sorry TMI). I hope this bronchitis gets better for all this drama! Thanks for all the guidance folks. I am going to bed as early as I can tonight.

  9. I went to the urgent care this morning because I coughed all night long. They said I have bronchitis. They prescribed Flonase and a z-pack. I took the z-pack crushed with applesauce. Now an hour later my stomach is cramping HARD. It is painful and I break out in a cold sweat. Has anyone had this happen before?

I have a call in to my doctor but just waiting in agony here. I've closed my door and put my head on the desk waiting for the feeling to pass.

  10. I felt helpless and guilty for not being able to givemy daughter a high quality of life. I am the only person she has and we love eachother dearly. She loves to go for walks around the neighborhood and I had gotten so big that I couldn't even make it 10 minutes before my back was screaming and I was limping from the pain in my knees.

She is so full of life and deserves a mother who can be just as excited about everything as she is. I want to be able to run, play, ride bikes, go to the mall, and amusement parks or even just roll around on the floor. At 207 lbs I couldn't manage doing any of that.

    I had to change.

  11. I was getting ready for yet another crazy day. I went into the bathroom to do something with my hair and I swear I saw a glimpse of a collar bone!!! I didn't believe it so I went to another mirror in another room. It had to be a shadow or something, right?!

NOPE! It's faint and it is only on my right side, but I can see a collar bone.

Jumpity-jumpity-jump-jump-jump! I was so happy, the baby came in and danced with me!
