    I Quit Smoking Today!

That is fantastic that you quit before. The sleeve seems to be a good motivator for quiting our vices!

    Cow's Milk or Almond Milk?

I hadn't heard this either but I have 5 boxes of almond milk waiting on me to get out of the clear stage!
  3. I have been sleeved for five days and there are some things that I have learned already. (in no particular order) - the "sharts" are very real and you shouldn't try to guess what is air and what is not. It can be messy. - most if not all medicines are ridiculously nasty when crushed and mixed with anything - however those same nasty crushed meds work super fast compared to before - coughing after surgery hurts - I have never been so afraid of sneezing in my life - I havent eaten anything in 5 days and I don't miss it. I have some head hunger but it is controllable unlike before. - it is surreal to go from never being full to only being able to eat a few small bites of Jello. Oh and healing incisions ITCH!

    Things I now know

Ohhh NO! I laughed so hard I had to hold my incision! I can just picture myself walking around the hospital smiling at everyone with huge sharted granny panties around my ankle! Poor little Hello Kitty on my drawers will never be the same.

How much should I be eating?

Hey! I am doing as well as can be expected. LOL! Every day I feel a little better in the soreness department and a little worse in the fatigue area. I started back to work yesterday (and boy did they miss me!). Thankfully I have a mostly desk job so it isn't so terrible. You are SO right about the talk on good food choices. He probably said that 5 times. "It is a tool and you have to make good choices. It will only get you halway there." I remembered him saying that one day you may be able to eat a quarter of a cup of something and the next day you can eat a half a cup of the same thing but the day after that you could only eat two bites. He said it happens so please don't let it freak you out. Listen to when you are full. LOL! They are all so amazing. I sent Gaby an email today asking for Ernesto's email address. He gave it to me, but I can't find where I put it. Everyone there was so sweet and I kinda miss it. I know it is crazy to miss a hospital, but it was really great to be pampered - even if it is after having your stomach cut out!

    Things I now know

I am in a constant state of butt pucker. I come home at lunch so I can sit back and relax on the terlet in peace! I'm 8 days out now and I only go 2-3 times a day, but when I go there's a lot of thunder and very little lightnin!
  7. Tonight marks the end of night 7. You guys were right...my "zest" for clears is greatly diminished. I've got 3 days and I get to go to glorious full liquids. I'm so excited I can't stand it. A couple of days ago I was getting cocky thinking that clears aren't that bad. Well, let me tell you...2 days later and I'd be happy if I never see another popsicle or Jello again. I've been reading Eggface's blog and it is so good! I've been splurging on buying Torani syrups and getting Protein shake samples. Come on Day 10!!!

How much should I be eating?

Hey Cathi! I remember him saying fingernail size pieces and put the fork down between bites. He told me "cut a piece, put it in your mouth, put your fork down, chew chew chew, swallow, talk to your friend, put another bite in your mouth. I thought it was funny that he assumed I would have someone to talk to outside of a two-year old! Hope this helps?

    Can we take vicodine?

You could also try Relpax which is in the triptan family. My heart rate went too high when I took Imitrex, but it does have a lot of options on dosage. I prefered the Imitrex injections because they are fast acting and I don't have to worry about my sleeve.

    I'm home!

I made it across the country on two planes and two cars to get back home. I will be honest, the travel was tougher than I expected. I sipped my Water and walked on the plane, but I was SO tired the whole time. Once I got home, I started feeling dizzy. I realize that I hadn't had anything to drink the whole last flight because there was no beverage service and I had to rush onto the plane. I was asleep before the wheels left the ground. So now I a home and getting down a little more liquid and going to bed. I will be picking up the baby tomorrow. I'm not hungry which is AMAZING but I am so tired I can barely function.

    NewLife2011

Has anyone heard from her? I think she was scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Aceves yesterday?

    Nexium Mups?

HA HA! I'm a dork! When I crushed them, I noticed that there were these little round balls inside. I kept thinking...well that's dumb if I have to crush it then why did they put these little balls in here? Well now I know I don't have to crush them! I'll just blame that on anesthesia.

    I'm home!

In hindsight, I don't think I could have made the trip home any easier. It was just a necessary evil. I got to the airport early so I was able to take an earlier flight. I got through it and crashed in the bed when I got home. It's day 6 and I feel a little more energized. I didn't need a nap today and I took both of my final exams. The hardest part has been keeping the baby off mommy's "boo boos". Onward and upward my Sexy Mexies!!!
  15. I know everyone has already told you this is normal. It may or may not help. I went by myself too and was scared. What helped calm me down was thinking through why I made this decision in the first place. It wasn't on a whim and it wasn't uninformed. Many of us have done more research on WLS than on anything else in our entire life! I was more prepared for WLS than I was my emergency gall bladder surgery (where I never even MET my surgeon nor did I have a choice who did it). I was more prepared for WLS than to buy my first house, get married, and having a baby. So take a deep breath and have faith in yourself that you are making the right choice because you couldn't have come this far otherwise.

    Things I now know

I am drinking a SF warm apple cider with a teaspoon of SF caramel syrup. *clear heaven* I didn't think I would be this happy with my selection of clears at 6 days out. Four days until I get to almond milk and Protein shakes. I can't wait!!!! (I really hope sleeverella likes almond milk!)
  17. Hi y'all. I am on day 5 post-op. It is my first day at home with the baby. She has been really great with watching movies most of the day and laying in my lap. We went for a short walk. I took a nap this afternoon when she did, but I am absolutely exhausted. I am also a little dizzy. Has this happened to anyone else? I am eating SF popsicles, drinking decaf tea, sugar free apple cider, and propel zero Water. I took my B12 this morning, but it didn't seem to give me any energy at all. Is this normal? The only real pain I am having is the soreness below my ribcage and on my left side. My larger incision is itching so I assume that it is healing. It isn't red or hot - just weeping clear or yellow Fluid. Thanks! HDub

    Exhausted and Dizzy?

I am trying to get down an Isopure with some Crystal Light added in. I think I am going to switch over to the Powerade Zero. From what I have heard, they electrolytes are better for me now than the protein.

When did you feel good post op

I was sleeved 8/16 so I am on Day 6. I had much more pain from the drain than anything else. I really think my body just hates foreign objects so I can't imagine what I would have done if I chose the band! I have been able to get my fluids in. I sip, sip, sip. My biggest problem is the dizziness. I am slightly dizzy any time I move. That could be from a multitude of things, but my guess is the no carb, no sugar restriction. I guess my body has to adjust. I am not in a lot of pain. I have a nagging pain in my left side, but it isn't unbearable and when it gets too bad I take liquid tylenol. I go back to work tomorrow. That is going to be rough because I am tired and dizzy. It probably doesn't help that I am running around after a 2 year old. I did notice a significant change in my swelling from yesterday to today so maybe the Fluid and gas is finally making its way out. I have to keep remembering that everyone is different and that I had major surgery just 6 days ago.

    Things I now know

YES! Hiccups hurt! Breathing exercises are no fun either.

    Exhausted and Dizzy?

I'm not scheduled for a visit until 3 months out unless there are complications. I have had issues with Potassium before but those almost always present as muscle cramps with me. I'm betting on the change in carbs & sugar coupled with the travel and stress. (Oh and I had my first BM today...and 2nd and 3rd!)

    Exhausted and Dizzy?

i was a carb-a-holic so this could very easily be carb-withdrawal I think. I was ok in the hospital, but all I did was sleep, sip, and walk. I probably napped more than I realized. The trip coming home yesterday took a LOT out of me. I'm so excited that the baby and I will be going to bed early tonight. I need to be more gentle with myself and stop forgetting that I had major surgery. The good part is that I made the baby her dinner (Breakfast sausage and eggs - my FAVE!) and while it smells good I am not tempted at all to eat any of it. Before I wouldn't have been able to keep my composure at all.

    3 DAYS POST-OP

I have been drinking propel zero water and either chicken or beef broth. Popsicles and jello are helping a lot too. I hope you feel better.
  24. I got home last night. I took a shower and crashed in the bed. The travel was pretty rough, but I made it. I have only been up 90 minutes, but I feel pretty good so far. I will start taking my vitamins this afternoon and that should help a lot!

  25. I got my sleeve this morning at 10 AM. The surgery went well and recovery so far hasn't been bad. The only pain I am feeling is from the drain and even then it is more sore than painful. I have been having issues with nausea. I have a tendency to feel nauseas from anesthesia but I am allergic to zofran (which seems to be a great drug). Dr. aceves says he hasn't encountered someone with this allergy so he using other meds on me. Earlier today I had a hard time when I sat on the side of the bed and actually dry heaved when I walked. The doctors told me it was ok to take it slow so there hasn't been a lot of pressure on me to go visit my neighbors until tomorrow. I did wake up a few minutes ago and was able to sit up, walk myself to the bathroom, and walk around my room a bit. It is a sign I am doing better and I will take it! I have my dye test in the morning and then I will be allowed liquids. I have had a bottle of Water at my bedside to rinse my mouth and spit into a basin. Those first few hours it was invaluable because I was so dry my tongue was sticking to my cheeks! I am a little concerned I haven't peed yet. I felt like I had to go but nothing happened. I am on my third bag of saline. Maybe I was just dehydrated? To all today's sleevers - good luck!
