I was banded 7/26/2011 and was told I got a small fill at that time. I received my first, after surgery, fill on 8/24. Here I am 5 days later and I don't notice a difference. I've read through the thread where it says it can take a few days to up to 4 weeks to 'feel the fill'. Really? I'm due to go back in 4 weeks for another fill. *confused*

If you are having these 'issues' now' you're not going to be any happier after your lap band surgery when you might need it the most. I say find somewhere else! What area do you live in? You might look into True Results. I'm in Texas and had good luck with them.

The REAL truth about recovery....
justmermp replied to onmyway11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there. I will tell you my experience. I had gallbladder surgery when I was 25 and lap band surgery when I was 48. In addition to my lap band, I had hiatial hernia repair. For me, this was alot more painful than gallbladder surgery BUT well worth it as in 29 days I am down 33 pounds. Also, I'm 23 years older so age I'm sure had something to do with that. My surgery was on a Tuesday and I had planned on going back to work on Monday. I ended up going back 2 weeks after surgery and it was still probably a bit early only because I was still extremly weak. It took another week to get back into the groove of things but all things are good now. Take care and good luck to you. -
I was a coke aholic but I knew if I was going to have WLS I would not be able to go back to drinking those. Do I still crave one? Yes, but I don't want anthing to interfere with my band and losing weight so I think of something else

Did your doctor put fluid in the band at the time of your procedure?

I was banded 7/26 and was told I got a 'fill' also. I have no idea how much yet. I'm due to go back next week for another fill and I'm wondering right now if I even need it. I don't get hungry and it doesn't take much to fill me up. We'll see. I had to have hiatial hernia repair so I'm not sure if the pain I suffered with was from that or from the band and I agree with another person who replied 'each case is different'. Good luck to you -
Hi there. I didn't read your entire post. Just the bit about your UHC insuarance and their requirements. I have UHC and I did not have to go through a supervised diet for 6 months or do an excercise program. I went through True Results and within 2 weeks of starting everything I was approved to have the lap band surgery and did so 7/26/11. Call your insurance company yourself and ask questions. Good luck to you!

I would discuss it more with your doctor but I took mine every day.

Hi there! I believe all the pre testing (besides blood work) will depend on your current health. I have sleep apnea but because I see my doctor regularly I didn't have to go. I had to have an EKG, blood work, breathing test, Psych and a chest x-ray. Once I got all that done they submitted it to the insurance and within a week I was approved. Good luck to you!!

He's in Hurst, Texas. He's in the Surgery Center on Precint Line Road just a few blocks from 183. He just banded me on 7/26 and I couldn't agree more! He's an excellent personable doctor. -

Can someone tell me WHEN i will be able to drink a reasonable amount of liquid
justmermp replied to ButterflyM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it sure is. I was banded a week ago today and found right after being banded that I could no longer even take the smell of those shakes. My doctor suggested liquid Protien. It's sort of a kool-aid looking Fluid, very sweet but only 3 oz. and you can get up to 52 grams of protien. Beats 3 to 4 shakes a day imo. I have found everything is now excessively sweet to me so I take the protien like shots. Takes me about 4 shots. Take a shot, have some Water, have a shot, take some water. -
Hi there. I've never been great at introductions but wanted to reach out and say hello. I live in the DFW area of Texas and was banded 5 days ago. I look forward to getting to know you, reading your stories and sharing mine with you. PS - Is my ticker showing up?

Just saying 'hi!' New girl here, looking for some support :)
justmermp replied to Sabrina140's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Sabrina, I'm sorry you don't have the support of loved ones but I'd be more than happy to lend support where I can. I'm new here myself and was banded 5 days ago. -
I'm 5 days post op. I had to have hiatal hernia repair also and the gas is what was just horrible afterward. Luckily my husband did some research for me and found Gas X strips. Lay them on your tongue and the gas escapes. Omg, that helped me so much. I've only had to use 1 and since then it's been coming up on it's own. Here's my problem. Everything I can have is what I could have 5 days prior to be being banded. Liquids and Protien shakes. It's like my taste buds have all changed because everything now tastes nasty to me me with the exception of Water. My shakes tastes so nasty I want to gag so I haven't been taking them and have basically been living on water. Even sugar free popcicles are so sweet I can hardly stand them. Anyone go through this or have any suggestions? I do have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow morning.

Anyone here been banded with a bmi over 50
justmermp replied to ash marie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi! I was banded on 7/26 and I had a BMI of 60.5 I initially wanted gastric bypass because I didn't think banding would be enough but I chose to take, what I consider, the safer route. I plan on putting my all into losing weight and my band is going to help me in that. I'm going on faith that I can get to a healthy and pleasing place. I would ask yourself why you never considered bypass to begin with and it never hurts to look into it, just don't make a quick decision. Good luck to you.
