    Protein powder help!

I don't have any ideas on the unflavored Protein Powder but I would caution anyone from spending too much money on getting "alot" of protein anything. I wanted to be prepared and went out and got 4 different kinds of protein. Spent about $50 and after my surgery I couldn't eat any of it. My taste buds totally changed and I couldn't even stand the smell of it. The smell alone made me gag!! Good luck on your search

3rd fill for band to begin working

I can't say as I have ever heard this. I have had 3 fills (tomorrow I am getting #4) and I've lost 66 pounds since being banded 3 months ago (july 26, 2011). I don't think anyone can say at what point (or which fill) you will lose weight. We all get filled different amounts. I'm at 4 cc's and my friend who got her surgery from the same doctor but a week later is at 5.9 cc's and I've lost alot more weight than her. That could be for several reasons, my diet is different from hers. I stick with fish, chicken and seafood and stay away from red meats and eat mostly veggies with everything and some fruit. She eats what she wants but in smaller quantities. I excersise and she doesn't. Being banded still means you have to work at weight loss. It's just there to help you along the way. You make of it what you put into it. Good luck to you.
  7. I'm curious how many fills it took you to feel restriction? AND Over what period of time this took? Here's my info: Surgery Date: July 26, 2011 (received a small fill) 1st fill - 4 weeks later - no restriction 2nd fill - 3 weeks later - no restriction 3rd fill - 2 weeks later - still no restriction (I think I'm at 5 cc's) Next Fill 10/26 (4 weeks later)

    Calling all cooks

I have purchased talipia, cod and flounder filets and I don't know what to do with them. I've never been a real 'fish' eater. I've always loved shelled seafood and indulge in that but I'm trying to stay away from red meat and want to try to incorporate more fish into my diet. Anything you'd like to share with me on how to cook fish please share . I don't know how long to bake them or fry them as mentioned above so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    APPROVED yay!

Ya! <insert fireworks> Super news!! Good luck to you!
  15. And this is what I am afraid of. I have no learning curve. I can eat anything....everything goes down just fine, nothing has gotten stuck. So when I do get restriction I'm afraid of what might happen.
  16. I attribute that to eating better. I got to the point where I was eating out (junk food) at least twice a day. So now, it's fish, chicken or seafood and veggies. I do treat myself once a week but I don't let it get out of hand.

    introduction

Hi Joyce. Sorry to hear what you are going through. As long as you are getting your required protien I don't think it matters if you get them from a Protein drink or chicken. If you don't feel you are ready to eat meat then don't eat it. I'm not a doctor but I don't feel it's right to push you too fast. My doctor didn't allow me to eat meat until 6 weeks out. The Gas X really helps with the gas pains. I think I used them on and off for a month, If it's real bad and one doesn't do it, you can use up to 3 at one time. I know how you are feeling with your energy level. I couldn't believe how much it took just to walk from my bed to the bathroom. What really helped me were Vitamins. All my life I have heard "take vitamins" and I am not a good pill taker and they when I could get them down they always seemed to bother my stomach. I found liquid vitamins and I can't tell you how much they helped me gain my energy back!! Every day things will get better and you'll be able to do a bit more. Don't push yourself too hard don't do more than you feel you can do...you're still healing. Take care!

IS THIS HOW IT FEELS TO BE IN THE GREEN ZONE?

How often do you have your tiny fills?

Do any of you eat like this?

My doctor told me to eat my protein first and then veggies and anything else. The only thing he told me about starches was a conversation of mashed potatoes during my mushie stage. He asked me to stay away from it because 'it's too high in starch'. I have become friends with another of his patients and she told him she ate potatoes and he didn't say anything to her. Maybe because I need to lose a hundred pounds more than her? I just figured that was it but I have no idea. I read a book several years ago called Fit for Life. It explains how your stomach and intestines work and since then if I eat meat I don't eat a starch with it (or vice versa).

    Marijuana use with Lap Band

Hey Nix. No judgement here my friend. I hope all turns out well with your job. Maybe they can send you to 'drug counseling', not that you need it but to make them feel better about it.

    Brand New With Questions!

I have heard the same thing about Gastric Bypass. The lap band teaches you to slow down, it helps with the hunger and thoughts of food and not each so much. At least for me it has. It's a personal decision. You just need to weigh the risks and decided what YOU want. Good luck.
