  1. Hey all, I'm going to try to make this short (for full story, stalk my posts or something). I am scheduled for a panniculectomy Thursday and I am absolutely terrified. I was around 240 and my lowest was 160, now I'm back up to 185 (age 28, 5'1) and my panni gets rashes under it etc so insurance is paying to remove it. I'm scared. I've read countless blogs, posts etc on how much pain people have with this surgery. I have a very difficult time taking pain medication because it seems to make me sick. I also only get 1.5 weeks off from work (paralegal, desk job). Please please, if anyone has this done, please let me know how it went for you.
  2. My story is a long one, but if you want to read it on my blog chicken, eggs, repeat) I have lost 10 lbs of that. I have not been feeling myself lately. I hate the way I look and am terrified of gaining weight back. I seem to have gained it all right in my abdominal region, which makes it so many things do not fit correctly at all. My confidence is low, and I am so sick of dieting I could harpoon something. I know the end result will be worth it, and I need to go back in and get a fill, but I am struggling so hard right now. I would do anything to get down past 160 (my lowest) and hit 150 (my original pre-op goal) and I want to be 140 (over the moon, never going to happen goal). I feel hungry all the time. I eat good, healthy veggies, I cut out cheese, I make very good choices because the band taught me that, however, my willpower right now is struggling and I want to see lower numbers on that scale. Any tips or tricks you guys have to maximize your weight loss would be phenomenal right now. I need a pep talk

    Need a Pep Talk

My story is a long one, but if you want to read it on my blog liquid put into my band as of late. My doctor is super booked and its seems I can never get in and I am working constantly (paralegal). So without hardly any restriction, I packed on 25lbs. Now, through vigorous exercise and extreme dieting (minimal calories, veggies, chicken, eggs, repeat) I have lost 10 lbs of that. I have not been feeling myself lately. My story is a long one, but if you want to read it on my blog http://shutthebitchu...e.blogspot.com/ (bit has changed, I'm 28 now, divorced, and happily in a relationship that is healthy) TL;DR version - Lost 85 lbs, (245lbs down to 160lbs) but now have gained 25lbs (186lbs) Recently have reduced my weight down to 177. I have not had very much liquid put into my band as of late. My doctor is super booked and its seems I can never get in and I am working constantly (paralegal). 6. Hello all I was banded October 25th 2011 in Grand Forks North Dakota. Everything seemed to be going fine, I was eating much less and I had dropped 12 pounds right away. During November I started having slight pain in my port site and was told this was normal and it should go away. I was active doing Water aerobics 3x a week and walking. One night while I as at the gym the pain in my port site was stronger than normal. I bent over to pick up my gym bag and I felt excruciating pain in my port site. My friends had to dress me since I was unable to move hardly and I was rushed to the ER. After x-rays had told us that everything looked fine I was sent home with medication and followed up with my surgeon the next day. I was in so much pain I could not walk, bend, twist, or move by myself. He admitted me to the hospital for further testing. The conclusion was that I had developed a rectus sheaf hematoma underneath my port site (bleeding into the muscle). This is apparently extremely painful while healing and takes a long time. He had never heard of this happening before and he has done over 600 surgeries. I was put on bed rest for an ENTIRE MONTH. I was in the hospital December 7-9th and finally could walk without assistance by Christmas. During that time I had 0 activity. I am pleased to announce that since I had that complication I have not had any pain in my port site. I just want to let you guys know if you are having prolonged pain in your port site to please please contact your surgeon right away. I am only down 18 pounds since October which makes me very very sad. I was hoping to be down much more by now. I have a total of 4cc in my band after 2 fills at the moment but I am hungry between meals and am not sure why. I am very concerned about my hunger because I cannot seem to sedate it! If you have any tips about calming hunger in between meals it would be greatly appreciated!

    Very Rare Complication

UPDATE On march 5th I had to have emergency surgery to have my port moved to a different location. While my surgeon was inside he noticed that my hose to my port was bent and was causing the port itself to wedge itself into my abdomen. i am much better now! -40 pounds down and i have 4.5cc in my band

    Very Rare Complication

So last monday/tuesday I did my workouts and then Wednesday I started having port pain again... i thought maybe it would just go away. It has gotten worse every single day since then. I see my surgeon tomorrow for a CT scan and talk about doing surgery to move my port because it is causing LOADS of pain/problems

    Big Bite! Halp!

Sooo I took a bite of my food in a rush at work and didn't chew it very well! I have 4cc's in my band. It started to go down then i felt it get stuck but then i had HORRIBLE pressure like pain, almost chocking feeling at my port in my throat. My body kept trying to throw up (i dont throw up very well) but nothing would come up, and the little bit that did was just liquid. I returned to my meal 15 minutes later and slowed way down and eventually finished it but I still feel some pressure/tightness/pain from my "accident". Is this normal?
  11. I agree completly, it must have something to do with your size/liver. I was on the "low end" of the bmi scale to have this surgery so I didnt have to do any diet before hand.
  12. I felt the same way when I first got my band, "Why did i do this" type feeling. I was on liquids for 3 days, mushies for 3 days then mildly solid foods by beginning of week 2 and was just fine. I was so tired of eating jello/liquid crap that i had my husband puree a corn dog for me! IT WAS THE BEST CORN DOG I EVER HAD. lolol it will be alright
  13. Oh hunny? Why are they making you do such extreme pre-surgery diet? my lord. My doc told me I could eat whatever I wanted untill midnight before my surgery... i had a fricken steak. Is there a specific reason he wants you dieting pre-op? was it something to do with the size of your liver?

    Very Rare Complication

I just had a fill a week ago she put a full cc in. I have been doing lots of water/crystal light, munching on pumpkin seeds and trying to fill up on that instant breakfast stuff, it seems to be going much better than before.

    Very Rare Complication

Well i guess it has been a pound every other week or so? I have 4cc's in my band right now. I know i really really need to go to the gym and this week i have scheduled 4 Water aerobics classes that i must push my self to go to. I think my lack of weight loss has to do with my inactivity. Before i had my complication i was very active but now i have just kinda slid downhill. Tomorrow I am going to get my life back on track and shed those pounds! I have been trying to do Carnation instant Breakfast for 2 meals a day and have chicken breast for dinner to start dropping some pounds.

I'm thinking of doing a NO carb diet along with my band, to maybe speed things up a bit? since I am losing maybe 1 pound a week. I am a lot more active right now too!
