    August Sleeves!!

Blackberryjuice You stay strong, and don't worry about your dad. You need that energy to get better. I would take it you are an adult correct, so even if your dad shows up there you stick up for yourself, and do what you want, not what he wants. I know it is very hard for you I could not even imagine having to go through that. I'm so so sorry. It is stressful enough just to go through the surgery, but to have to deal with being sick, and then your dad too. You just remember this is for you not him, it is your body, and you need to make this decission for yourself, which you already have. Stay strong girl, we are all here for you. Work on getting rid of that virus, okay. Please keep us posted, and you are in my thoughts and prayers.
  2. Welcome MMK. I'm from Lawrenceburg, TN, and everyone i know that has had WLS all had the bypass went to Centennial (that is where Dr. Lynch is from I believe I heard someone mention his name at my support group), and had nothing but good things to say. I was suppose to go to Vanderbilt, but I ran into a road block, I'm trying to cross over now. Good luck on your surgery, and let me tell you this site is awesome, you will learn alot on here. I know I have. Keep us posted.
  3. Katt, That is great.:blushing: It make me so excited to get my sleeve. I have been buying size 20, 18, 16, and 14 when I see them a yard sales for $1.00 or less. It is hard for me to buy size 14 because I can not picture myself that small, but I can't help it pluse my mom gave a bunch of her size 14's as she has her weight has been a yo-yo for years also. Maybe I will get news today from the VA, matter fact I'm going to call her shortly when they open to see if the nurse has heard anything. Wish me or luck or better yet say a prayer for me.
  4. I know what you mean about the eating fast part. I have been eating fast as long as I can remember and when I went into the Navy it became worse. I have been out for 15 years now, and still I eat to fast. It is the one thing I'm worried about after the surgery is eating to fast, not chewing enough, gettin food stuck, and getting a leak. How do you use your VCR to time your eating? I'm trying to slow down now before the surgery, but it is not sinking in to slow down. HELP

    August Sleeves!!

Don't worry about your parents, I know it is hard not to. My dad finally came to the conclusion that I need the help of WLS to become healthy, but even if he did not I would do what I want to do. You are an adult, and you have the right to make these decissions for yourself. My dad also was very verbally abusive about my weight as a child the thing was I was not overweight at all. He called me LB (Lard butt), my whole childhood, and made other comments all the time that he actually gave me a complex as a child, so I understand. You go have your surgery don't you worry about anyone, but yourself. You are doing the right thing, sure there are risks, but there are risks when you walk down the street, drive, or if you are like me I'm a walking time bomb for a heart attack everyday. By now you are probably on the plane, so good luck, and I hope you start to feel better. Let us know how everything goes. Keep your spirits up, you are going to need it for your surgery.

    I <3 the Thrift Store

You are lucky. I visited New Orleans last Christmas, I really enjoyed it there. I live in a small town in Tennessee, and I think there are just alot of plus size women, that when something comes in to our thrift stores all (2 of them) it is gone fast. When I have garage sales I usually sell all of my plus size clothes. I love thrift store shopping, and will love it even more when I can wear normal womens clothes. :w00t:

    I <3 the Thrift Store

I went garage sale shopping, and thrift store shopping, I bought two brand new skirts, and a pair of capris for $1.00 each. I tried going to Goodwill because here the first Saturday of the month everything is half off, and today was tax free days, but it was to much of a zoo for me so I turned around and walked out. I have not had my sleeve yet, but every other week I go garage sale shopping and pick up items that I like in smaller sizes that are $1.00 and under. I know what you mean about never finding anything a thrift stores in plus sizes, and when you do they are usually very worn out, or just look like (no offense) granny clothes.

    Just a rant- John Goodman-

Wow, I don't think I have seen any other post that has gotten people fired up. So how do you all really feel about Jillian anyway. lol jk I actually agree with you. My doctor would not even allow me to do those excercises they do on there. I would permanently injure my knee. Shoot I tried playing tennis about a month ago, and because of my weight I strained my knee. My parents watch that stupid show, and think if I watch it by some miracle everything will click and I will start losing weight like they do. lol All it does for me is make me feel sorry for those people who actually wanted to go through that. The only part I like about the show is Allison Sweeney,(I think that is her name), and that is only because she plays on Days of our Lives. Well thank you all this was a entertaining post to read. It put a smile on my face, and made me even laugh a little. Thanks Who can we rant about next week? lol

    Sleep apnea after weight loss

I am so with you I hate the Cpap machine. I have mild sleep apnea but my surgeon insisted that I had to be on a cpap machine for 4 weeks before we would schedule my surgery. Before I gained all this weight I did not have sleep apnea. My doctor explained it to me that over weight people have sleep apnea because the excess skin under the chin fall back when you sleep which causes your air way to be constructed while you are sleeping, causing sleep apnea, and has told me after my surgery I will most likely not have it anymore. That darn machine keeps me awake more then my sleep apnea does. It is always leaking Water on me in the middle of the night, and then makes a slirping noise. I'm ready to throw it out the window.:thumbup1:
  10. That is great, I know you are excited. My story is a long one. I am having my surgery through the VA, they sent me to a civilian surgeon last October. Well I had to do a few things that the Surgeon required, once I finally had everything done it was July before I had a date for my surgery which was August 25th. Well the VA decided that I should not have my surgery done by a civilian doctor, and so now I have to go through a VA in West Virginia. I don't mind it that much anymore, it is just the waiting that is really getting to me. But as long as I get my Sleeve soon I will be okay, plus I don't have to pay a dime for it, so I can not complain. Well keep me posted, and let me know how everything goes in Mexico.

    UHC has approved my VSG

I know about the roller coaster, I'm still on mine. I'm on the down ride now. I have been up and down, up and down a few times now. Now I feel like I'm just spinning in a circle around, and around and around. I will not go into my story as you have all probably read it a few times now. But just think you are almost there. Congrats on the approval, and let us know when you get your date, that will be another up the hill on that roller coaster. lol:laugh0:

    tennessee sleevers?????

Nicole I'm from Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. I am going to be sleeved one day, at this point I don't know when. I was suppose to have my surgery August 25 at Vanderbilt but it was cancelled. I'm going through the VA, and they now require me to go to a VA hospital for my surgery.
  13. Thank you so much. I lost 2.4 lbs last week. I was so happy, but I have many more to go. I'm hoping by the time I go for my consult I will have lost the required weight and they will just schedule my surgery.

    Prickly People

I'm a newbie, and if I ever come across as being rude, please know it was not on purpose, and please let me know. I do kid and joke around but I'm never rude. I really enjoy coming on here everynight and readng what everyone has to say. I have learned alot this past month, and I know when it is time for my surgery I will be ready because of all of you. I have been on forums before were I would never post anything because I was afraid of the replies I would get. Not on here, if I have something on my mind or have a question I know I can ask it without being embarassed or worried about someone making me feel stupid.

    Surgery Tomorrow!!

Good Luck, let us know how you are doing, when you are up to it.
  16. Thank you Jane, they are very supportive, and a group of great people to work with, most of the time. lol I pray every night for my sleeve, and I know it will come one day. I just hope it is one day soon. I'm just waiting for Huntington VA to schedule me a Consult, and working on losing that 10% excess weight. Tonight is my first weight in a Weight Watchers, wish me luck!!!! The thought of getting on a scale in front of a line of people I don't even know scares me half to death. :sad0:
  17. Congratulations. I know you are so excited, I'm so happy for you.

    We Did It!

I'm glad to hear everything went well. I think it would be comforting to have someone to share this experience with. Thumbs up to your weightloss
  19. Deb, I totally understand, but my surgery was cancelled until I don't know when. Just keep your spirits up, and start taking the potassium supplements, and it will all work out. :sad0:

    Bald Spot

That is the one thing I have been really scared about since I have decided to have my surgery. So I have been taking pre-natal Vitamins, and Biotin since last October which is when I started the process. I did slack off for a couple of months, but I am back taking them daily. My hair already grows very slow due to my medication. I wont even get my hair cut until after my surgery, which right now looks like it could still be a couple of months. I have been a little bit thankful as in the last month or so my hair has actually growing. :sad0:

    Slimed?

First, Thanks Sunshine for asking that question as I was wondering the same thing myself. Second "GROSS", I really am going to work on eating slower, and taking smaller bites. So maybe by the time I have my surgery I wont slime.

    hi, another newbie

Welcome, I have been on this site for a month now, and have learned so much. I feel more comfortable with the surgery after reading so many of the posts on here. If you have any questions you have come to the right place. I'm still at the I don't know when I'm going to have my surgery stage, but am reading the posts, and becoming more familiar with the surgery every day. Good luck with your surgery.
  23. I'm so glad you are doing well with your sleeve. You made me kind of jealous, and I can not remember the last time I slept all night long. I even take this prescribed medicine that is suppose to knock me out but it does not. They say the cpap machine will help, shoot that stupid thing wakes me up in the middle of the night. lol Keep up the good work, and good sleep.
  24. I agree there are no dumb questions, and I would amost guarantee there is someone else that would like to know the answers to your questions. I know if I was going to Mexico I would. I used to live in San Diego, and it scared me to death to go to Mexico. I lived there for 3 years and only went twice.
  25. Southernlawyer, I guess the size changes would be alot to take in. I can just picture you going to court in a suit, that is to big, like a little kid in a grown up suit. lol, Well I'm back on the don't know when I'm going to have surgery, so I just kind of put this thinking on hold for now. It is hard like today I took my daughter school clothes shopping, and there were alot of good sales, but I did not even want to look because I dont know when I'm going to have my surgery. It is hard for me to picture myself in regular sizes the thought of it just blows my mind. I do have one good thing I work in an office with 5 other females, they are all different sizes, and they have all offered to clean out their closets, and give me everything that don't fit or they dont wear anymore. I am very thankful to work with good friends that support my WLS surgery.
