  1. Thanks to everyone for the short-term congrats! I am looking forward to even more and more! To everyone who has a surgery date coming up, may God be with you and just follow your doctors orders! I had a little depression for about the first three weeks mainly because my doctor suggested that I not drive for two weeks and I am an on the move type person! But this has been one of the greatest and easist things I've done in my life! Love you all!

  2. Sad to say, but prior to surgery I didn't take my blood pressure pills like I should. But I am 5 weeks post op and took them everyday after surgery and for the four weeks was very weak and thought it could only be my blood pressure being to low, so I ran out and this week I got my energy back. Now I have a six week post op visit next week and if its normal then i will just stay off but if its high I will go back on.

  3. Ok, here we go!

Post op 3 weeks and 3 days.

    1. I am freezing!!! Wearing sock, pjs, long johns!!!

    2. Dont like the puree stage!

    3. I get in 70-90-grams of protien, so I hopefully don't loose any hair.

    4. My weight was the same at week 2 and 3, which is a bummer!

    5. Excited about the future!

    6. Will not buy new clothes, until all mine fall off!

    7. Love Water but hard to get in 8 glasses, so I settle for 6 or 7 most days.

    8. Havent tried anything sweet, scared to!

    9. Sex, I wanna go hard again. LOL!

    10. Thanks God I am not hungry!!!

  4. Well I weigh the same at week 2 and 3 and thats a little frustrating for me. Because I walked 5 days a week during my week 2 and after my 2 week post op I started working out. My doctor told me I could do everything but abs so I have burned 400 plus calories 5 days a week and I was still the same weight at wk 3. But I asked a question as well are there weeks where you stall?

  5. Hey all my African American Sisters, I was sleeved on 1/26/11, down 24 pounds! Did anyone experience weight stall, like from 2 wks to 3 wks my weight is still the same. I even work out 5 days a week. I have locks and hope I don't experience any hair lose, but my doctor told me to get 70-90 mg of protien daily in which I do. Wonder if weight loss is slower for us? All i know is I am excited, haven't had any complications and in 7 days get to move to soft foods. All of a sudden all eyes are on me even though I have only shared this with a few close friends and family members. I noticed some doctors have different criteria after the sleeve, like I read where some are on liquids 2 weeks prior to surgery and 2 weeks after and my pre-op and post-op was never that. I am a Indiana girl, so if any sleevers in my area let me know. God Bless you all!

  6. I chose to tell close friends and family. If someone ask me directly, I will tell them. But my main focus is losing the weight. I am 3 weeks and 2 days post op and I have struggled already on how all eyes are on me now. For one I have never been small, skinny, thin or nothing in that range. I weighed 180 in middle school and so this is all new for me too. I am just trying to explore my own journey and thinking about what people have to say on why, what, and how, I just assume NOT! I just told my husband that the more and more weight I loose, I know people will be more and more suspicious on how I am doing it and I know that comes with it but for now I am going to focus!

  7. Hi all, I'm new here and I noticed that mostly everyone was a pretty new sleever. I thought since I'm three years out, I could answer some questions about long term results, etc. Also, I noticed a thread about African-American sleevers. I'm that too, so if you have any questions that are culturally specific I can answer those too. Here are my specifics:

Surgery Date Weight : 335 lbs

Current Weight : 185 lbs (which I've been maintaining for at least 1.5 years with absolutely no trouble).

    Height: 5'8"

Sizes : 10 on the bottom (sometimes 12 in jeans), 6 on the top.

    Measurements: 35 x 27x 45 (Yeah, I know).

    Ask me anything.

  8. Ok yes you did the right thing! I am 2 weeks post op and down 24 lbs! I do have a Constipation problem but I just take some mylanta which is a stool softner and it helps relieve the gas. My drain was removed on day 2 before I left the hospital but the doctor said as long as the right side is hurting that is good because known of the surgery took place on that side and that it would be sore for about six weeks. I have exercised everyday and this has helped me with being tired so try these! It will be OK!

  9. Hey I sent you a personal message as well and now I know that you have had the surgery about four days before me. Like I said its day 11 and the first day I haven't cried, but don't focus on the weight! Focus on the liquids at least 6-8 glasses with 70 grams of protien. I have heard about hair lose and fatigue and skin peeling from not getting it in. Maybe you need to look for another protien drink there are all kinds. Most of all do what your doctor says. Its gonna get better!
