  1. I think I have hit a stall (just started my period so I'm sure there's a correlation) - I'm not freaking out about it, I know it will be temporary. What I'm curious about is what happens after the stall? I mean, will I just resume slow & steady losing (which is OK) or will I see another big drop like I did week one? I'm selfishly hoping it's the latter, but I'll take it any way I can get it. :)

Hi there. I hit a six week stall 3 weeks out from surgery. Also had a period that loong too, on and off. Things finally became adjusted and I dropped 17 pounds in two days. Since then it has been a pound a day or so. It's all good. I 'll take it. The stalls are temporary and will pass. Stick to what you are doing, and when the first pound goes again, up your Water and Protein to stop with any body shock again. Best advice I can give. Good luck and keep up the good work.

  2. Yay, I am rooting for ya! I am about 3 weeks shy of where you are at, and I am down 78 lbs. with my pre-surgery loss. I never thought this could happen! Isn't ti wonderful? All the best to you! Keep up the good work!

Just wanted to check in and say that I am getting ready to hit my 4 mth post surgery mark and I am down 95 pounds. If I can do it anyone can!!! Good luck!

  3. Yes my weight fluctuates a lot based on where I am in my cycle. The week of my Pd I'll stall, gain a few and stay there for a week. It really depends I guess that I have super cravings during this time and I tend to give in. It's super difficult!!

However, a week or so later I'll drop those extra pounds I've gained which puts me back to my original weight. Then the few weeks before my Pd. I'll drop massive weight - even up to 15 Lbs. It all works out - I guess since I'm going on my 8th one since surgery I'm pretty used to it. It doesn't bother me as much as in the beginning.

As far as how my stomach works, yes I've noticed I can eat more during my Pd and less when I'm not. Very interesting!

    :)

You are isnpirational! I too have wierd stalls and that when I get my period. My question is, have you ever had a period on and off? I stalled for 6 weeks, and just dropped 10 lbs. overnight, all the while having a period that is on and off. Any ideas?

  4. Hello all,

This question is for my sleeve sisters out there who are in their forties, possibly pre-menopausal , and just had sleeve surgery. Has anyone experienced REALLY HEAVY menstrual cycles that just won't quit? Just when I think it's gone, there it is, back and heavier than the last time. I was having regular, 28 day cycles like clockwork, just had all my pap/exam stuff done. I am also swelling like crazy in my feet and lower legs. That has let up a bit by INCREASING my Water from 64 oz. to 80 oz. I tell ya, with the bleeding and Water bloat, I don't know how I am getting by. The doc said it is because fat has loads of hormones in it, so my fat is disappearing, and the hormones are havin' a going away party!

By the way, I hit an 6 WEEK STALL!!! Got on the scale today, and down 9 more pounds! Thank God. I was losing hope!

    SURGERY DATE:May 31st, 2011

2 WEEKS OUT: 30 Lb loss-then stall, stall, stall

8 weeks out:39 Lb loss Finally nine more pounds

(Total pre surgery and now :59lbs.)

If anyone can help with the period thing, please let me know. I am desperate. The docs don't seem concerned. I am not in pain, but it is not fun, as you can imagine.

    HAVE A GREAT DAY, EVERYBODY!!!!!!!

  5. That

    dont mind me biggrin.gif

That is great! Celebrate that . I can't wait to see mine. I have a loooong way to go, but it has been years!

  6. Hello All. I am 8 weeks out from my surgery and down 30 pounds. I hit a stall my third week. I am doing everything by the book, food, Water, Iron, protien....Problem is, I started to bloat at week 4, and they said the surgeon said this is normal, especially with the higher temps. I increased the water from 64 oz. to 80-100 oz., and did see abit of difference in water retention, but the swelling is still there. Mostly in my calves and top of my feet.

Here's the other thing, and pardon me for being graphic and giving TMI, but I have had my period since June 17th. My surgery was on May 31st. I am 47 years old, (PRE-SURGERY WEIGHT:379)and my periods were like clockwork before the surgery. Maybe Menopause? I can't seem to get an answer. I went to my regular doctor for the swelloing and she is afraid to give me anything for it (Lasix) because she does not want to knock my system out of whack. This last week, my period has been so heavy, it's a wonder I am not passing out. But I feel fine.Already had the pap and all that pre-surgery, so I am not worried there.

Has anyone, my age or any age, had this problem post surgery? I just read that fat has lots of hormones, and when I dropped 30lbs., my estrogen went nuts. Help!!!!!!!

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Also, has anyone else hit a 5 week stall? I am about to go crazy. Eaing like a bird and not losing weight.

    Thanks all.

  7. I am pre-op so I am not sure. I don't know about where you are but where I am there a pretty widespread heat wave. I learned with 3 pregnancies that heat will swell you up pretty quick. I would just try to stay as cool as possible and keep moving as much as possible (because of the surgery, but put your feet up some too) and check in with your PCP. HTH.

Thanks so muchfor the advice. The heat had never occured to me, and it is really hot . Best wishes on your surgery. Hang in there girl. Your help is coming!

  8. You should probably see your regular doctor about it.

For me, my legs swell when I'm sitting in my chair for too long. What helps is making sure I'm laying down (in bed, recliners don't count) at least 8 hours per night. Then I don't have the problems.

Also, drink lots of Water, it helps flushes everything out of your body (no idea if it helps with edema, but hey, always a good idea!)

    Thanks

  9. Can someone please tell me if this has happened to them? I am 7 weeks out from my surgery, and have lost 30 lbs. Problem is, this last week, I am really swelling up in my feet, ankles ad legs. Has this happened to anyone else? I keep my sodium low, and take potassium once a day. I can not find anything on this. Please help. I feel like a balloon again! I am at a stand still opn the weight loss too. I bet if I could lose some Water, I could be doing better. I drink 64 oz. a day. It is not helping. I feel like I am losing my mind!
