Welcome Vicki! Most people have suggested asking your doctor the same question. I was grounded for achilles tendon repair so I can't say after band surgery. It's such a fast recovery though that I bet it won't be to long. I'm enjoying my Sporster but I imagine at some point I'll upgrade. Someone was just talking to me about a Heritage. If I keep taking long road trips I may upgrade sooner..lol I'm determined to ride the Sportie to Sturgis though this year.

We're still stuck in the rain down here in Texas. I'm sooooooooo tired of it. Hopefully we'll have consistent summer here like we're used to soon. :peace:

Beachgirl!! Best of luck! I know you can do it! It's just like riding a bike...hmm....wait...lol You'll be just fine! And as long as it has two wheels and you don't have to pedal it, it all counts!!!

Quick update since the sleepy's have worn off...it was 1297.9 not 1279..every mile counts..lol

Already looking forward to the next big ride! More than likely a short trip to Austin in June for ROT.

Tann, congrats on your excellent week! JusME...we've all been there sister...do not give up. I give you props for staying true and public. There've been so many times where I didn't want to admit the gain but if I can't tell my support group...who can I admit it to? My body's been stuck for the longest time. Just had a fill yesterday so I'm hopeful for some movement. That and the continued exercise should help. Long haul...just remember long haul and don't forget to Celebrate all that you've lost so far!!

Hi all! Home again and boy is my butt happy to be...lol First let's say it was a whole lot easier with 50 pounds gone! I thought I'd be achey and miserable but I really wasn't bad until the ride home today towards the end...hmm...in the end too...rear end....lol

1279.9 is what my tripometer says. Woohoo!! Longest trip for me and the bike is almost at 5000 miles. We rode up mostly in the rain and boy did I get wet. This trip was definately a lesson in how to pack for a trip. I ended up buying a rain suit in Big Springs (the oldest HD dealership in Texas) because I couldn't stand the thought of being wet any longer...lol Overall though a really great trip! Met new people, saw lots of pretty scenery and have many, many great memories to carry with me. The ride to Palo Duro Canyon on Saturday morning had over 2000 motorcycles. We rode in a long parade from the fair grounds to the canyon. Roads blocked off and lots of people in cars wishing they had left the house 5 minutes earlier...lol Luckily, I'm a little anal about getting places so we were early enough to be about 10th in the first line out. We were finished eating our cowboy Breakfast and people were still coming down the mountain and parking. Got some cool pictures. If I can get a lesson, I'll see if I can post some of them on here. After Breakfast we went riding other places and put around 200 miles on the bike. Great, great, great time. Hmm...did I mention I had a great time? I had a guy ask me what I rode. When I told him a Sportster he said "you rode all the way here on a Sporty? you are a real biker" :rockon: That made my day!

I'm out of energy for now. Hope everyone has a great week. Luckily I took Monday off. Need to wash my Babee...she's filthy from the trip and I'm loving every spec of dirt we gathered! :peace:

Hang in there Molly! We're all allowed our rough times. Just try and stay focused on the long run and your final destination and how you will feel. We have to retrain our brains,emotions and all. You can do it!!

Tomorrow's the big day. Getting up at the crack o dawn to head to Amarillo! Will be home on Sunday worn out and butt sore probably...but also very happy. Randy,the phillips headset I got works well with the helmet, both the half and 3/4. Everyone have a great weekend! :peace:

Only 3 more days until the big ride to Amarillo! I'm really excited to go. Friday I got all my chapter HOG Patches and I got a vest to put them on yesterday. Now just need to find a seamstress to sew them on for me. Hopefully the weather will hold out and we'll have a nice 500 mile cruise.

Randy, I'm getting that ROT itch so I may not be able to stay away. Would really love to see The Guess Who. I've been a fan for a long time. I even put them on my new IPOD for my cruising music. I got a new headset to try out on the bike. They wrap around the ears so I think they might work better. Going to take them out for a test run here in a bit. Now that I've done my chores, it's time for a Sunday Mother's day ride. Since my baby's in California with her Marine and her baby it's the best way I can think to Celebrate my day!

Woke up this morning. What did I see. The last week has been stressful and the scale is haunting me. I've got the blues....the lapband blues....the food right now is winning and scale is not my friend. But I will find the strength to shut my mouth and win at the end.

Yep, up three pounds.... No cookies..peanut butter is now my worst enemy...lol I have no control so it will not be coming back to my house again.

Hey Randy. Other than a slightly misty ride to work on Friday, we've been inundated with the rain as well. Had plans to ride to a friend's wedding yesterday up 281 but again with the rain. I'm tired of it and it can leave now...lol Actually had one of my neighbor's houses on the next street struck by lightening in Tuesday storms. Made the power in my house dip.

I did do something fun on Tuesday though. I joined the Caliente HOG chapter. I have my charter member patch too. Now I guess I'll have to get a vest to put them on. I was hoping to wait until I was smaller but I guess I'll shrink my way out of it...lol Oh yeah and Harley came out with a new helmet that matches my bike perfectly so of course....I had to get it.

Thanks for the hotel update. I'm not sure what I'm doing yet but I really can't see myself staying away from it all. May just come for Saturday so I guess I should make a hotel reservation now just in case. Only 11 more days until the first big ride to Amarillo. Hopefully the weather will be kind.

I took my first solo trip today. :shade: The guys from work I ride with don't take it as seriously as I do so today I decided I would just take off on my own. I headed off for the hill country, with my new ipod playing music to ride by. I had a great day! The weather was just perfect. Partly cloudy and a slight coolness to the air. By the time I got home it was 4 1/2 hours later and 197 miles. They have free engraving on ipods ordered from apple. My quote "Life is a highway. I'm gonna ride it" certainly fit me today. I consider this a warmup for Amarillo. That will be 500 miles in a day so I did almost half of that trip today. May go do it again tomorrow. :peace:

Randy, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I'm sure it will be a tough day but hopefully also full of great memories.

As for the gas thing....I was never so embarrassed. Made me feel like sucha a rookie, which technically, I still am. But I'm okay with that little lesson. At least I got it before a long ride. I got my registration card for the Amarillo trip. Should be a lot of fun!! Only 3 more weeks to go!

It would be nice to understand what the correct size is? For example, how many 'lines' does a ticker count as? I've tried taking out the fills and scrunching the other information but still can't get it past the error. Can anyone help with that? Also my 'session' doesn't stay logged in. I can go to a thread and I've been booted out. Anyone else having that issue or tips on what to do? The 'Remember Me' check box seems useless as it's never seemed to work. Where is the technical support for this site?

Finally seems to be moving again in the right direction. I've increased my exercise and trying to eat smaller portions. Will definately need another fill at my next appt in May.

New toys are fun! Will it be a purchase any time soon or just a 'want to' at this point?

I had a first on my bike this Saturday and I'm embarassed to even admit it. :rolleyes Ran out of gas on the bike....yep, sure did....lol And I had just said to myself, I should stop and get gas. That's when my bike backed me up, agreed and stopped. Had to push it off the main street and call the calvary to come and save me. I just couldn't believe I had been that careless. Oh well, guess I can check that off of my 'things to do or not do' list.

It's been awfully quiet here in biker land. I hope it's because everyone's out riding in the beautiful weather. I've been back on the bike to work everyday again. It's a great way to get there. I'm four weeks away from my longest trip yet. About 500 miles from San Antonio to Amarillo...and yes, for those of you who don't live in Texas, that doesn't even get me out of the state...lol I'm really excited though! Just need to make sure to stay hydrated during the ride.
