  1. Well I was going quite a bit on Monday and tuesday but I guess i will email my doc and see if there is something I should be concerned about. Its just the sensation of feeling like I have to go gets uncomfortable and then I feel a little gas build up. It makes me feel like I need to go...sometimes I do go and other times I dont. I took tylenol to help the intestinal cramping pain and it helped. I was able to sleep and not get up every 30-45 mins.

  2. Ok, I need some feedback. I have been having stomach cramping and diarrhea for a week straight. I have been eating 1/2 cup of creamy chicken Soup some evenings but it still happens when Im not eating any dairy. It is not much inside to come out if you know what i mean, but the intestinal cramping and feeling like I have to have a bowel movement is painful and uncomfortable. I went to get seen and I was given imodium to take to stop the episodes. I didnt take it the fist day, but i ended up taking two pills because i am at work and cant keep going to the bathroom! It helped slow down the bowels but I was still having intestinal cramps and some stomach aches. I even tried the tums and gas x but nothing. I finally took some tylenol and it seems to help the pain. I guess I will be doing tylenol until the pain stops all together. Is this normal?? Has anyon else had the same issue??

  3. My Doc didnt have his patients startig Protein Drinks until day 10 unless you are hungry. I work in the hospital so im always on the go...that is y i do broth and Jello as well as drink my gatorades. I have to get something other than liquids or I'll get light headed. Good thing I am not actually hungry. Its nice to eat for nutrients than for pleasure. I still cant finish all soups...tomato Soups are harder than creamy chicken Soup so I can only handle sips of that one. I also do feel some restriction from thicker liquids like milk for a little it scares me a bit so I stop when that happens and give it a rest for a while. For me full liquids doesnt add much to my diet unlike some other paients. Ha ha, I was looking forward to it and then I saw that it didnt add anything other than milk HA!! lol...I wish I could be rid of the looe bowel movements. That I could do without!!!

  4. Thanks Inprogress! I was like you too...eating clear liquid broth and it was becoming a pain and a bore. I decided to get some creamy Soup and at least feel like I was eating something. I cant do Water or liquids and work a full day. If you like olive garden Soups go and get their creamy chicken soup...forgot the real name but they will know exactly which one...and ask them to strain out the other stuff. I ended up buying a large 6 serving bucket full. I will def try some other things like oatmeal since now I am able to do full liquids. I was just getting super bored..good thing its only for one week. I am also trying to drink but not forcing myself to drink loads of liquid. It still hurts to gulp so sips of liquid esp. gatorade is my best friend right about now.

Nancy- I did get diet instructions but it is very basic and im sure more people have figured out more ways to feel " normal " during the liquid process so I figured I would ask for some ideas.

    Thanks guys I appreciate it!

  5. Hi I am currently here in TJ and I just got sleeved by Dr. Kelly on Monday. I was in the hospital for three days with round the hour care. It is not a clinic and there is an icu and radiology as well as anything necessary. I am 28 and I wanted someone who was great and priced correct. I can only speak on my experience and I have posted about my journey so far. I came in on sunday and i was admitted into the hospital. I just checked into the hotel and i am here until friday morning. Dr. Kelly just came here to check on me and speak with me. I am happy so far with my decision.

  6. Hi sleeve sisters and brothers!

I am having a great recovery all glory to God! I have been so great and Im hoping that when i get back i can rock my sleeve like those of you on here that inspire me! I have eliminated most of all the gas and was able to eat my first meal today!!! the tortia broth was excellent and full of flavor. It felt like a reward for all the days of no food lol. I dont know if I was suppose to eat all of it but i did! It took me a few hours of spooning it and going back to my bed to complete it. Trish texted me if i was able to eat and she was surprised I was able to eat it all...i didnt think i over did it seeing that i took a few hours to do it. i feel content for now lol...well the sun is beaming and i am enjoying this part of the trip...feels like a real vacation...a much deserved one at that!

  7. Okay Im on the loser's bench finally! I cant believe this finally is done! Surgery went great but recovery isnt a cake walk. I didnt feel any shoulder pains but still having gas pain in my abdomin. I did have some nausea a few times in the evening and threw up once due to the blood and bile not sitting well in my stomach. The nurses were so wonderful and they are taking great care of me. I hope I can pass the rest of the gas asap. I am sipping and walking though lol. Thanks for all the support ladies!

  8. So far my journey has been good. My flight went smoothly and the layover didnt really seem long. I flew from Va to BWI airport...and then switched flights to San Diego. I got in a tad bit earlier than expected. I called my good friend to let her know when I had landed at each destination. I prayed with her before leaving to have a safe journey and uneventful surgery. After landing in Cali I texted Trish and Ricardo the driver. He called me and we were able to set a pick up location. Ricardo was very nice and he placed my bag in the honda for me. I wasnt really worried about what car it was because it was a short drive and as long as we got there safely that is all that mattered. Since we were going into Mexico late at night it was a breeze! I really didnt understand how come they make it seem so hard to do! I didnt have to take anything out going into the Mexican border. It honestly reminded me of the bridge toll road in New Jersey and New York lol. I spoke to my friend until we got into Mexico and cut my phone off. The charges are ridiculous....99 cents per min or 50 cents to text....0.05 cents to receive texts. Any way I was beat by this time because back at home the time was after midnight and my body was not adjusted to the new time zone. As we pulled up to FLorence/Oasis hospital I was not sure what to expect. To my surprise it was a beautiful building on the outside and it had a pretty garden courtyard in the front. I will take pics of the outside and lobby prior to leaving. Anyway, Trish was there to greet me and helped me fill out the paper work I needed to sign. I think the only thing I remembered saying to myself was please dont let me need blood. See, I am a clinical laboratory scientist and I was worried about how they screened their blood donors. So any way, back to the room we go...My room was a basic but clean and decent sized room. The nurse was making up the full bed and placing the finishing touches on my bed. I forgot my nurse's name but I will get it when she comes back tonight...she was very sweet and she spoke english very well. Her helper Edna only spoke little english but she only assisted and took vital signs. I was able to chat with her in spanish a little. I had to brush up though lol. I decided not to shower since it was so late and I was going to have to wake up at 6am to shower anyway. I turned the tv on and was surprised to know that they did have english stations. I settled on watching E since they had say yes to the dress on. Off to sleep I went. I may have to ask Trish to get a mattress topper for after surgery on a side note...Next morning comes and the nurse comes in and wakes me up. She said we were late getting started so she gave me the gown and off I went to shower and get ready. I actually like these gowns better than U.S. gowns because its out on the sides and they have velcro down both sides of the gown. Back to the story...the nurse got my iv started without a hitch. The only thing I saw they do that we dont do as lab techs is open the tube and get the blood from the iv canula. It was fine, they got all tubes except one which meant a needle stick for that last red top tube. Just as I was writing this guess who knocks and comes in??? Dr. Kelly! We had an indepth conversation about the surgery, post op, questions about the incisions which he gladly showed me on my stomach where they would be. He was so nice and caring and he just put my mind at ease. We even spoke about the differences in Doctors price wise. He is an awesome person! I am in good hands...Just came back from my visit with x-ray. It was quick and I got the thumbs up. I think the ekg and speaking with the cardiologist is next!

  9. Thank you Griselda! I went out yesterday and changed out my new loose fitting shorts and capris for even bigger sizes just for comfort. I picked up the liquid vitamins and meltable tablets of B12 and Biotin. I still need to get the gas x and the calcium citrate which is harder to find than anticipated. I need to compare the stregnth of the chewable gas x compared to the strips. I also hope my organic tea and cat claw holistic drops help with imflamation.

  10. WOW!

I have been here reading and supporting others who have gone before me and had the surgery. I can believe its almost my turn! I leave for San Diego on Sunday and should be going into surgery on Monday morning. I emailed Trish so I can find out more details about when I should go NPO for surgery. My plan was to do the liquid Protein diet up until Sunday and then stop everything around 8 or 9 pm for surgery. I hope that is going to work! I also went shopping for some things for post op...I got my post op outfits which consists of loose cotton knee legnth shorts and capris, loose tank shirts and a zip up cotton sweat shirt for the plane ride. I plan on bringing a small pillow for the post op moving around as well. I got my rob and slippers and two pajama two piece sets for the hotel. I purchased two thermals thanks to Heather T who suggested it for warm broths. I plan on using one for tea and one for broth. I am going to pick up tea for bloating and for healing to assist my body bouce back. Am I missing anything?? I probably am since Im writing this down from the top of my head. I would love any feed back from recent sleevers who can assist with this. Thanks!

  11. And Dr Kelly DID IN FACT have a death last month! You can call him or Trish and they will confirm it. The discrepency comes in with HOW she died. Dr Kelly and Trish say it was an Pulmonary Embolism and the family of the girl said the autopsy shows that her artery was knicked...But either way--THERE WAS A DEATH.

I agree how would anyone on here know how this woman died? Where did they have direct contact with family members who they dont know? Sounds like hearsay to me.

  12. I understand how scary it can be to be going there and not have anyone. I just wanted to let you know that you will be fine. Even if you don't end up finding another person going down there the same time as you the staff there will make sure you are taken care of just great. Don't let this be a worry in your mind of things that you should be worrying about. Take care and good luck your day is soon to be here!

Thanks for the support! It would be great if someone was available when I went but I am sure you are right. I will be there before I know it! Thanks again.
