  1. question for you! I am having some pain at my port site. Can feel it under my skin--feels like a small egg! lol! Was planning to start walking tonight' date=' but it causes pain when I move. Also hurts to laugh, sneeze, cough, or lie down with my legs out straight!! Anyone else experiencing this?[/quote']

I was banded on march 13th and my port pain was there until just this past Saturday whe I was finally able to walk. So sorry I'm not sure when you were banded but it will pass.

  2. Ok I had to share this Protein shake I created. It is marvelous!

Ingredients: 1cup skim milk (or whatever milk you use)

Gold Standard 100%whey vanilla ice cream flavor (omg is wonderful) 1 scoop

1TBLS sugar free French vanilla Torani Syrup (I bought mine at amazon.com)

1-2TBLS sugar free black cherry Torani syrup

    Ice

Put all in the blender in the order written and blend away. IT WAS SCRUMPTOUS!! You will love your Protein shakes after trying this.

  3. I have lots of different music and I've kinda broke my play list up into days of the week so I'm not always listening to the same thing every day. P!nk and Adel are top on my list right now my two power songs are Black Eyed Peas, I Gotta Feeling and Kelly Clarkson what doesn't kill you (stronger).

  4. I agree that everyone heals at a different rate and everyones pain tolerance is different. Today is day 6th post-op for me and I am feeling really good....I started my mushy food on Saturday, per my doctors rules, So far I have eaten the best EVER mashed tators. I mixed in Mrs Dash Garlic & Herb seasoning and to thin them out I added chicken broth to them. OMG you thought I had eaten a meal cooked by a proff chef  WoNdErFuL I tell you. I've also added sugar free pudding, refried Beans, creamy Soups, & fruit to my protien shakes. I have started to see the light at the end of the tunnel... :)

I am struggling with getting in enough Water every day I am short by about 16-32oz it depends on the day. So I have started to add my hot tea as part of my water intake. ;) I started walking yesterday I walked about half mile and was pretty tired after. Today I walked 25mins on the treadmill and managed to walk 1mile. woo hoo. I also feel pretty good. B)

I hope all of you struggling will find the strength that you need to get you through. Enjoy the day and smile. :D

  6. So I am reading your story and am very excited to see your surgery day experience. Now that I am getting closer, I am really interested to hear what people go through the day of and after you get home. Gas seems to be a common theme, so I'll be prepared for that. Can't wait to see more of your updates.

Yes, for me the most pain had been in my left shoulder I have been sitting with my heat pad on it and had to sleep with it on also. I also found that I slept better when I propped myself up in bed.

Can I just add that I have ordered a sample packet of shakes from jayrobb.com and although they are a little expensive they rock!! anyone reading this should at least try the sample pack.

  7. sunflower, how are you doing today?

Karla0306 Today is the day after surgery and I am feeling much better thank you. I started taking my gas medicine which SO helped with the shoulder pains I'm also using my heat pad on shoulder which helps lots. I am struggling to get all of a shake down. This morning my tummy was growling so I made a shake and was only able to get 4oz down. I saved the rest of it for later. Coughing I find to be a bit hurtful lol. I was very nervous yesterday and thought I was doing the wrong thing that I "could" lose the weight myself. (ha yea like I hadn't already tried that my entire life) But today despite all the pain I am very glad that I did this. Thanks for asking. :)

  8. Yes, I'm on shakes, broth, Popsicles, jello & Gatorade. I've only had one shake today lots of Gatorade and a few Popsicles. I've kinda had to force all that into me. I've now taken the gas-x and hope that helps me. Oh and I'm pushing the Water as much as I can. It is really great to follow another that was banded on the same day. I've also started posting vlogs on YouTube under the banded Stacy if your interested. I'm new to all of this was and everything else. I just tried to learn as much as I could from different resources before the surgery.

  9. I am now banded as of this morning. When I came out of the surgery I did have a lot of chest pain and shoulder pain which is referred to as gas pain the nurse did give me some meds for pain and it helped out a lot. Now I'm at home and I took some gas x and that really helped I have not had any stomach cramping which I'm I thought I would just some shoulder pain but not as bad as I thought. I do feel very sore from the incisions that bothers me the most especially when I have to get out of bed.I am walking every hour for 5-10mins to prevent any blood clots. My surgeron and everyone did an awesome job!

    Jackieu,

I was also banded this morning. Most of my pain is from the gas pain in shoulder guessing should takemy gas x :o/

Doctor told me I had a hernia that he repaired while he was in there. I was bit surprised about that causeivenever had any issues with heartburn or reflux oh we'll glad it's fix. Where did you have surgery? Mine was done in KS city New Hope Bariatric. Would be great to follow your progress since we were banded on the same day. If you have Facebook you can find me on there as banded Stacy. Good luck to you looking forward to hearing more about your journey.

  10. Hi March Bandsters! I am having my surgery on Thursday at 9am. I have done really well on the pre-op diet and I'm ready for this. It hasn't hit me just yet. I'm still very excited' date=' but the nervousness hasn't hit yet. I'm finishing up at work tomorrow and preparing to be out for a week. Got my support system in place? The love of my life and my best girlfriend will be there with me on Surgery day.

I've been reading all of your posts from those who have recently had surgery on yesterday. I'm trying to follow to see what your going through so I know what to possibly expect. I read someone had trouble sipping from a medicine cup and couldn't keep that down. I don't want anything like that to happen. I went to the store today to get some Colace for Constipation and some more Protein Shakes. I think I am going to the hospital in my PJ's and slippers. That's comfortable for me.

Well speedy recovery to those who are recuperating from surgery this week and all other March Bandsters best wishes on your journey!

I was so nervous this morning before my surgery I even told my husband wth am I doing here lets go home...he of course told me to come back to my sense & I stayed my surgery was only about hour long and to me felt like I was only gone for 10mins. The worst for me so far has been the pain from the gas and the pain is in my shoulder. If you don't already have one I suggest you buy a heat pad it is a wonderful thing. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

  11. ...wow.. so your day has come. all the best to you. i hope it goes quickly and painlessly for you. talk to you on the other side.

JudyCh1946, thank you and I've made it to the other side. So far feeling really pretty good. The worst of my pain is in the left shoulder from the gas. I'm having issues with my couch and recliner they both sit very deep and make it almost impossible for me to get on them....I have taken a nap not really eating much yet did have some broth when I got home it helped with the sore throat from the tube they put down my throat. My doctor told me that he found a hyatial hernia and he fixed it while he was in there...(I know I butchered that word) Here's to feeling better tomorrow. Peace and Love :)

  12. Here I sit waiting to leave the house to head to the hospital. That's right folks....this morning is my day! Have to be there at 6am they are suppose to take me back to surgery at 7:30. I've got the shakes right at the moment but that could be cause I've had nothing of substance to eat in like a day. Wish me luck see you all on the other side.... :D
