  1. I drank alcohol on Saturday and it seems every since then, I have been having really bad heartburn. I seem to get it even when I have not eaten or drank anything in a while. I have not tried any medication yet. I keep thinking it will go away. Has anyone else ever had this problem.

  2. OMG, I completely know what you are talking about and unfortunatley I have found that most sweets go down really well :( Once I start, it is hard to stop. I did really good until the Christmas Cookies came along. I have great restriction, I just need to cut the sweets for a while. Once I get back into a routine, I will be good. I refuse to journal and count as well. My doctor doesn't want me to. It didn't work for me before and it truthfully stresses me out.

  3. I also had a hematoma. It caused old blood to come out of the corner of my port incision. The doctor kept an eye on it and had me on antibiotics for several days until it was no longer draining. I was freaked out. Due to this, I had excessive bruising in the port area that lasted a long time. My doctor could still feel quite a bit of Fluid around the port when I got my first fill (about 6 weeks post-op), but was still able to do it right in the office. Needless to say, it has gotten better, and I havn't had any other issues. Just keep an eye on it and give it time. I'm sure it will be fine. I hope this helps :)

  6. I am so excited to be getting my 3rd fill today. I can't wait to get closer to my green zone. I stayed the same weight over the last month, and I am ready to get back to losing. I'm feeling really good about this one :) I have started getting up extra early to exercise before work, and with this fill, I am going to rock the holidays :) Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  7. Very well said B-52. I couldn't agree more. Although I am only 3 1/2 months into my journey, I already LOVE my band. I can't wait to reach my Green Zone. It gets better and better every day. I get my 3rd fill on Nov. 22 and I should be very close to green. I agree with LB4me! Some people have thought I was crazy for getting a fill right before Thanksgiving, but I don't think so. I am not the same person I was before. I will be the one who doesn't feel miserable after dinner :) I will not put on 5 lbs. I will be loosing weight over the holidays and feeling great! I think that we do need more positive posts. Enough with the negativity.

Happy Early Thanksgiving Everyone- I am very THANKFUL for my band.

  8. I also had the same thing, Hematoma. The blood was pouring out for a full day and then it lasted about 3-4 days. I was super scared and even cried just out of worry. I called the Dr. and they had me go to the ER to check it out (as soon as it started), and then I saw my Dr. the next day. They had me keep gauze on it and put me on Keflex to avoid any infection since they considered it an open wound. My Dr. didn't want to open the incision to release the rest b/c it was my port and if that got infected, it would be really bad. He said my body would eventually absorb the rest of the old blood. It was kind of a brownish red blood. He told me that if it had been bright red blood, he would have been concerned. All is good now. I still have some bruising around my port area, but my Dr. said that will go away. It is from the Hematoma. Good luck and I am sure everything will work out well :)

  9. I started out at 320 lbs. My doctor told me he doesn't want me counting calories, carbs, etc. It obviously didn't work for me in the past, and it used to stress me out trying to calculate everything. He just told me to make sure I am aware of what I am eating and to try to make sure I am adding good Protein into my meals. This seems to be working for me. I haven't restricted myself from eating anything (accept the foods that we should avoid such as bread, rice, etc., b/c we don't want complications). In the past, when I would say no sweets, I would then crave and binge on them. I don't eat alot of sweets anymore, and I do find that my taste buds have changed as well. I hope this has helped :) Good luck to you, and I hope you figure out what works best for you.

    Happy Losing :D

  11. A co-worker brought in delicious looking, creme filled cupcakes for Halloween. I caved in and ate one. It did taste extremely good, but now I feel sluggish, full, and have a yucky overly sweet taste in my mouth. I do not miss this feeling at all. No wonder why I always felt sluggish before. I would have polished off at least 2 of them before. Sugar is the devil....lol. All I have to do is remember this feeling, and I should be good for the next time I am tempted. Yuck :(
