What's your big reward?
jeeptrk03 replied to JinTx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told myself once I lost 50 pounds, I would buy a new pair of cowgirl boots (still trying to find the exact pair that I want). Once I reach my goal (or within 20 pounds of it), we are going to start trying to have a baby. I want a baby so bad, but we haven't really tried, because I always worried that my pregnancy would be risky with all of this weight. Congrats to all!!!! Such an exciting journey -
OMG. I was having a bad night yesterday. I over ate and made bad choices. I was banded on Aug. 1, 2011. Up to this point, I had done really good. It seems I have been eating a little more than I feel I should, but I just assumed I need more restriction ( I have only had 1 fill of 3cc). Well, it was over the top last night, and the restriction was there! About a half hour after I finished eating, I started to get a HORRIFIC pain and severe discomfort in my stomach. I never did throw up, thank God, but I was absolutely MISSERABLE for 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Needless to say, I got about an hour of sleep. I was up and I was down. I couldn't get comfortable no matter how I sat or stood and laying down was out of the question. Boy, was this a wake up call!!!! I have learned my lesson the hard way. Has anyone else experienced this?

That is great!!! I am scheduled for my 2nd fill on Oct. 20, 11. I currently have 3ccs. I really feel like my 2nd fill is going to make a big difference. I am totally ready for some serious restriction.

August Bandsters Did you get your 2nd Fill Yet?
jeeptrk03 replied to Sharon1222's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded 8/1/11. I got my first fill of 3cc on 9/15/11. I could tell a difference, but I am totally ready for my 2nd fill. It is set for 10/20/11. I feel like I can eat more than I should. I do get full and definitely can't eat like I used to, but I would feel comfortable with more restriction. -
Will this nightmare ever end?

It sounds like you need a new surgeon. I don't think I would trust that one. -

What do you want to do when your skinny (or thinner)
jeeptrk03 replied to helen098's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG, there are so many things I look forward to. Here are just few that come to mind: Sit in any kind of chair and not worry if I will fit in it and/or break it (breaking a chair is one of the worst feelings and super embarrasing). Go to a theme park and ride all of the rides; not worrrying if I will fit or not. Go shopping in the misses section!!!! Feel sexy when nude in front of my husband. Be comfortable wearing a swimsuit. Fit into a regular innertube when floating down the river (I usually lay across it on my stomach so that it isn't so obvious that I don't fit). Be able to wear a skirt or cute dress if I want to and not worry about my inner thighs being rubbed raw and misserable (I have even had them bleed before from being so raw). Something that I have already accomplished is....... I can see my collar bones slightly and my ankles!!!! I hated how swollen my ankles got every day, and now I can see my bones in them. My knees and my ankles would always hurt when I would get up, especially when I had sat for a long time. I am already starting to feel amazing. Everyday is a new day, and I always look forward to the next. Congrats to everyone on this amazing journey -

Week 3 after surgery and nervous
jeeptrk03 replied to num1diva1026's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My weightloss did slow down slightly when I started soft foods, but I am still losing. I eat alot of tuna and fish. I like to add a little light mayo and a hardboiled egg to my tuna to up the protein. I get try to only eat a little at a time. Good Luck! I am sure you will do great Just keep thinking about the end result. -
It will get better I slept in the recliner for 2 weeks for the same reason. After that, I had no problem. Just give it some time and I promise it will get better

No Symptons Normal or not?
jeeptrk03 replied to Mewizza's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am the same way. I was banded on Aug. 1, 2011. I have been very cautious b/c I don't want to experience any of the bad symptoms. I stick to what my doctor tells me and follow the diet guidelines. I have not had any problems. I sometimes feel I could eat more or chug water, but I don't do it. I still sip my drinks and stop eating as soon as I no longer feel hungry. I am glad to know that I am not the only one. I sometimes think, is there really a band in there...lol. I look at my scars and the weight that I have lost and realize, it is real Good luck to you!! Sounds like you are doing great as well. -
Newly banded 1st day post op
jeeptrk03 replied to peanut27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My goodness, your doctor doesn't sound very patient friendly. Mine has been wonderful. They gave me a prescription for codine for pain. It helped alot. I took that for a couple days. I did stay in the hospital over night as well. Be careful what you add to your protein drinks. Keep to liquids only. You def need time to heal. They pain will get better. After about a week, I felt really good. Congrats on getting banded. -
My biggest incision is where my port is. I have a little spot on the incision that is kind of draining. It is like a brownish blood color. It isn't red at all around the incision or swollen. It is still a little sore, but that seems normal. I have a band aid on it so that it doesn't get on my shirt. There isn't a whole lot coming out, Has anyone else had this problem? I will probably run it by my doctor today, I was just curious if anyone else experienced this.

How long should I expect to be off??
jeeptrk03 replied to jsea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would sugest taking a full week. I had surgery on a Monday and went back on Friday. After a few hours at work, I was wishing I had taken that day off. I sit at a desk all day as well. It was pretty uncomfortable for me to sit in my chair. It feels kind of like everything is being crunched together. By the following Monday, I was feeling much better -
I was just curious if anyone else has discomfort sitting in a regular chair? I am sure this is normal, but I just like to make sure. I sit comforatably in a recliner where I can lean back, but sitting in an office chair is a bit uncomfortable. I guess everything is just kind of pushed together. I was banded on August 1st. So far, everything has gone smoothly.

Yeah!!! Congrats. Hope everything goes well

I have begun my 10 liquid diet before surgery, and I am curious what are good protein drinks. I have tried Atkins. They are ok. I have never really drank protein drinks/shakes, so I am not sure what all is out there. I do know that it has to be low sugar. Thank you in advance

I am only 26 years old. I get banded on Aug. 1st and I am so super excited. I was just wondering if ya'll who are close to my age, had any trouble with excess skin. My doctor seems to think that since I am young, along with exercise, I shouldn't have too much of a problem. Just curious.

..It 'twas the nght before lap band surgery and all through the house.....
jeeptrk03 replied to 14isabella's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know exactly how ya'll are feeling. I have to do the liquid diet for 10 days (I get banded on Aug. 1). It has been really rough. I had to go to 2 bridal showers over the weekend and there was some yummy looking and smelling food at both. I did pass it all up though. When I get in a really tough spot ( and trust me, it is tough), I think about how amazing it will be once I am banded. My body is already starting to feel better from the liquid diet as well. I don't know about you guys, but I used to swell up really bad, especially my feet. After about 5 days on this diet, I can now see the bones in my feet Its the small things. Good luck to everyone -
August Bandsters????
