    BMI Standards

As of yesterday I slipped into the obese, instead of morbidly obese- so I'm in the same boat. Cant wait to be overweight!

4th of July - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

Checking in Challenge Start weight- 229 current weight- 221 Goal- 204 lbs to goal- 17 Woooo! I'm getting there.
  4. I still have trouble getting my water in, and I'm 5 1/2 weeks post op- I hit about 500 calories daily though. It's just hard for me to be sipping constantly. I have to really focus.
  5. I am having the SAME issue. I'm a month out from surgery- and by the time my period came around I literally had like 8 pimples on my face- and I usually don't break out at all. It's gotta be the hormones. I'm going to go on some form of birth control when I see my lady dr next week- so I'm hoping that helps. Have you considered that?
  6. As much as I know I shouldn't, I weigh every day. However, I'm coming to the place where I'm not so concerned about the numbers if I dont have a loss. But, when I do, I celebrate. (yay!)
  7. Ah, yes, I know how this goes. I lost 7 lbs the first week and then stalled for 2 weeks. Finally, in the last couple of days, I lost 6 more pounds. Whoopie!

    I did one thing right

Ah, I know. I live in central Cali, where summers get to 110 degrees on occasion, and people are already complaining about the heat here- and today I wore a sweater. I've been freezing constantly. This makes me excited. However I have feelings that this summer when I visit canada I wont feel the same. LOL

4th of July - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

I'm super excited about this challenge. I put that my goal is 25, but I'm secretly hoping for closer to 30, so I could be in ONEderland. I'm 3 weeks post op, and hit a stall one week out, so I'm hoping that stall breaks soon! Been trying to get tons of fluids but having difficulty. Got cleared for the gym and stuff though, so I've been doing that.... I'm excited mainly to reach this goal because, I live in california and am visiting a friend in Vancouver, Canada on July 8th. She hasn't seen me in years, and hasn't ever seen me that small- heres to high expectations and hard work!
  10. I hate that so many people like to spread negativity as if it was a disease and if they, the carrier, didn't spread it, it would overwhelm them! People become threatened by others when they become a little less predictable. Since they do not know you at a smaller weight, this threatens them. I hate also, hearing the whole "why cant you just exercise" comment. Uhm, Obviously I can (since i've lost 50+ lbs in the past doing so, but it comes back!) But, I need a tool to help me maintain and lose weight for GOOD. Many people were less than supportive when I originally told them about the surgery. Some of them have come around- complimenting, encouraging- and some have even considered getting the surgery! However, there are still those people that just love to try and put some negativity into my life. Hold your heads high, sleevers! If we allow people to affect our happiness, then everything we went through in working for it is kind of a waste!

I'm a week from being 19 and I had surgery on April 6th! I wish this board was more active...

4th of July - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

I want to join! SW- 272 CW-229 GW-204 Lbs to goal- 25! Woooo, my first challenge.
  13. So, I am 2 weeks and 1 day post op- and I visited with my surgeon yesterday. He said that for this week to do puree food, and then next wednesday I can start introducing real food (Such as shredded chicken, string cheese, etc.) I also have some kaiser papers that give information on when/how to introduce veggies and how to cook them for a while. I was just wondering if anyone else was given similar information about re-introducing food? He said I'd be eating pretty normally by the second week of May.
  14. It seems my surgeon differs on everything I read! He told me nothing heavier than 25 lbs for 3 weeks and then ENCOURAGED me to go to the gym and get some weight training and heavier cardio in. He said that the staples heal as fast as the incisions do.

    Suddenly SOOOO hungry!

I was the SAME way. Stay strong! My hunger cravings have been slowly fading away. Also make sure that you're not just mentally hungry! Lots of liquids!
  16. I was sleeved two weeks ago as well. They did an Upper GI the day after surgery in the hospital. Did you have one of those? After that, I wouldn't think so, unless a leak was suspected. But, if your surgeon told you to, I recommend following whatever directions you were given.

    Day 20. Almost Human.

I agree. It's comical to me how often I have to explain exactly what the VSG is any time someone asks me what surgery I've had. I mean, one of the girls I know had news crews asking if they could film everything about her surgery before and after- how crazy is that! It's like we've discovered a new life form or something. I can't wait until a few years down the road when people start really accepting the surgery... I still can't even believe that I did it two weeks ago! What a crazy notion.. My stomach is forever smaller and I love it!
  18. I'm in the same boat. I lost about 9 pounds in the first week, and haven't lost since. I was talking to my surgeon today and he said that this weight loss isn't going to be a steady decline, it's going to be more like stairs. We're going to lose, stall, lose, stall... which is frustrating but he said as long as it's coming off, we have to be proud of that! I'm right there with ya.
  19. Ugh, I absolutely hate when people refer to WLS as the easy way out. I had quite a bit of family say to me, "Why can't you just eat well and exercise?" And they knew darn well that I had been up and down on the scales for as long as I can possibly remember! Obviously something wasn't working for me. WLS is certainly helpful in the process but it is not a 'fix all cure'. Unfortunately, people who haven't been through it won't ever understand it... and that's just something we all have to grit our teeth and accept.. Trust me, I wish I could change the way they perceive it. Rawr!
