  1. Well Im right behind you with the cowarding out 1000 times. Im scheduled for next friday so I know EXACTLY how you feel, just take a breath and take it one step at a time you will be ok. I am avid dog lover myself but with enough food and Water he/she will be ok . They will lock up your bag so all will be fine there.......good luck and post as soon as you feel up to it so we know you are doing ok...............and lmao on the bacon flavored Protein drinks, if you find some please ship some to me :P

After this semi-tortuous 4 week pre-op diet, the last 2 of which was liquid...

I feel like the dog in this video:

I actually leave tonight about midnight to be in San Diego in time to catch the shuttle into TJ.

(not looking forward to the drive back home after.)

    I must confess, I have though about cowarding out... oh... I don't know ... maybe 2, 3 ... or 106 times.

But then what? No better option than to go through with it.

Two things are still weighing on my mind:

    1. I feel like a jerk leaving my dog home alone. Plenty of food and Water, but no one to look in on her.

    2. How am I going to keep track of my bag during testing and surgery? (silly but I can't stop obsessing about it)

    FM

PS do they make maple bacon flavored Protein Drinks?

  2. Good Morning,

Yes everyone is intubated when they are having this surgery because they want to make sure your always able to breathe.Second Im not sure who told you blood clots are something you shouldnt worry about but you definetely should. I work in the vascular lab and know this too well. Unfortunately if you are smoking you are at risk now for blood clots and with surgery it will double. They do put compressions on us during surgery to keep the blood circulating and thats why they make us walk immedietely and especially the days proceded. But when you smoke you are robbing your arteries of oxygen and also causes them to scar which can pool blot and there is where the blood clots can form. Most surgeons wont operate on patients unless they have quit smoking so not sure why they havent made you quit unless they just want the money and arent concerned for patients health....Dont mean to scare you just think you should know the truth....Good luck on your journey.

Hey everyone! I know this is the sleeve board but I don't really know where to post, there are no boards for the surgery I'm having. SO, if there are any POSE procedure people hanging out here, I'd love to talk with you! Or if anyone knows where there is a forum for U.S. POSE patients, I'd love the link!

I'm scheduled for the 21st of this month along with a friend of mine. I'm excited but a little nervous since I can't seem to find anywhere to talk to anyone who has had it in the US so far. Dr. Lavin of Surgical Specialists of Louisiana is doing it and is a pioneer with this surgery. I do have a question for all of you here, were you intubated with your surgery? Is that something that happens no matter what surgery is being done? And also, when were you told you could quit worrying about blood clots after surgery? I'm only going to be out for an hour and up and walking within 2 so not alot of down time. Hoping that helps alleviate the blood clot risk??? But, I'm a smoker so that's something I am concerned with.

    Thanks in advance everyone!!!

    Krystal

  3. If you put it in the search bar of the forum , you will find loads of information that people have already posted regarding Mexico surgeries, good luck on your journey

I am interested in going to Tijuana to have Gastric Sleeve Surgery. Hopefully in August I am just more concerned about safety in the area more than the surgery. Does anyone have any input on this? Is it safe? I am looking at going to Bajanor Medical.

  4. You look great

I'm not sure if this will work as this is my first time posting pics ... and I have to admit, it feels a bit exciting to be at a point where I am ready to share the photographic evidence of what the last 10 weeks have done for me since surgery! I started at 255 and am now at 210. I feel like all the weight is lost from my face though :)

  5. Glad you made it out ok and are doing fine, keep us posted

my surgery was 11am this morning & I left recovery @ 2:30. Doc said I did really well very routine...

Have to admit I am concerned because i'm starving!.... This is upsetting me.....i haven't eaten since 8pm ystdy but I was hoping the hunger pain would not be present.....

did anyone else have this post-op?

my pain is ok (4 on the scale) but I got my period this morning so I have cramps to go along with my hurt belly but all is good. I am so excited for what is to come!!!! I truly am.

I have no nauseous but I do feel gas coming on.... We will see. My throat was very sore when I first got to my room & my voice is very hoarse....I am super tired so I guess I should be resting while I can.....

    will post again later!

hopefully I will wake up not hungry....is it normal & it is bothering me so much

    PrairieDawn :)

  6. Loved your post and thank you , I needed those words and I needed them today , my surgery for the sleeve is the 24th of this month and playing ping pong in my head .............so thank you ;)

Hello All!! I was sleeved Jan 24th 2011. It has been an interesting journey to say the least. My SW was 304 and I am now 212. Only 12 lbs til ONEDERLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant belive it. I recently changed my goal weight to 140 from 160 but Im not sure if that is very realistic but I am striving for it!!! My weight loss has slowed down some but that is due to my "falling of the wagon" and when I say that I mean not working out or eating as healthy. But the AMAZING part of the sleeve is that although I messed up I am still losing weight!!!! Its not 3-5 lbs/week anymore..more like 1-3 lbs a week. But the beauty of it is that I can start fresh and when I work out I drop ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know Im not gaining it back. If anyone is thinking about this DO IT!!!!!!!!!! Best decision I've ever made!!!!!!!!!! And I know it gets old but this is just a TOOL. But damn it is the best effing tool I've ever used and if you work the sleeve it will work for you!!!!!!!!! This week Im becoming more committed again and staying away from the crap. My problem is I forget to eat and Im a single mom and I work 2 jobs so I eat out. Well I have a wedding June 17th and I want to be UNDER 200!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope all is going well for eveyone!!!!!!!!!

  7. Victoria Secrets has the best bras ever and they will fit you and suggest the best one for your size :)

okay so before surgery I was a 38 DD and that was getting a bit small for me but now that I have lost weight ( most of which I think came from my boobs) all I have are empty bags hanging from my ribs!! I cant seem to find any stores or brands that fit right and make them look presentable and I cant afford implants. does any one have a good sugestions on where I can find something good?

  8. Southern California here and June 24th is the start of my new seat on the losers bench :D

We are looking for fellow, "Jewels of June" AKA: anyone getting sleeved in June '11. My surgery is scheduled for June 6th in Middletown, NY. I had my last consult with my surgeon this morning and set all of my pre-op appointments. I guess this is really going to happen. Wooo Hooo!!!!

Everyone who is on "The Losers' Bench", make room. THE JEWELS OF JUNE ARE COMING!!!!!

  9. You dont have to tell your boss anything, if she asks you just say its personal and leave it at that, In todays health care world to discuss personal health information is agaisnt the law and people can get fired from discussing other peoples medical issues. Just tell her you are fine and its personal I told all my co workers that I am going on vacation that way im not questioned until I come back if anyone should find out......Good luck on your weight loss jouney

Hi! For those of you who are not telling your co-workers or boss exactly what type of surgery you are having, what are you telling your boss? I told two of my friends from work beyond the fam that knows and I am pretty sure they aren't going to say anything. One of them told me today to tell our boss something different because she spilled the Beans on another co-worker having Lap-band. Now I hope to only be out of work for two weeks no longer than three weeks. I work with a bunch of people who are always trying to be in other people's business. Just curious to know what others told their boss without saying WLS.

  10. Congradulations and just take it one day at a time. I am right behind you ,my consult with Dr.Suh is May 26th and Im excited to join you on that bench :) How was the whole experience with the hospital and the Doctor been so far? Hope you are feeling better today and hope to hear from you soon....

Just thought I would post a quick update that all is good and am so glad to be home. I didn't get much rest at the hospital and am hoping to sleep (and walk and sip!) lots today and this weekend. I am having trouble, though, just getting the one ounce of liquid in at all. There sure doesn't feel like there is any room for this stuff to go. It feels very tight and restrictive. I guess that is a good thing, but it is hard getting the required liquids so I don't get dehydrated.

Anyways...so glad to be on the loser's bench!! Looking forward to this journey and keeping my eye on the prize and to be a better steward of the body God has blessed me with. It is all going to be in my attitude. If I choose to concentrate on what I can't have and how the foods/drinks I can have don't measure up then I will be miserable and will hyper-focus on reaching the stage where I can "eat again". This journey it all about learning to deny my overwhelming need to gain instant gratification through food. It is going to be difficult physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, but in the end if I do it God's way, I will never regret it :).

  11. Biotin is sold over the counter and you will have to ask your M.D on what dose he will let you use and there is no side effects noted, I use it and Im pre surgery and havent noticed a difference. I have thin hair and nails and have used it for over 2 months but it might work for others. I still continue to use it though.....hope this helps :)

I just heard about Biotin, Vitamin for hair/nails. I am starting to loose my hair, has anyone used this yet? If so, let me know how it is, is it over the counter? Side effects? Very curious, I had thinning hair even before surgery!!!

    thank you!!!

  12. You look amazing !!!!:D

Okay so I have been meaning to post a before and after pic once I hit onederland and my hubby keeps saying that he is going to do a picture that is a side by side comparison but he is procrastinating!!!

So I decided just to do it myself in 2 pics, one is just before surgery and the other was taken this past Friday in my work bathroom lol

    I have gone from a 22/24 to a 14/16 in 18 weeks :D and couldn't be happier!!!
