  1. I am 1yr and half out from surgery and stopped at the 50% weight loss 256 to 197.... I have maintained this weight for the last 5 months...So some days I do question myself on not getting the bypass. My girlfriend had surgery a week after mine and had the bypass and she dropped all the weight off 236 to 129, so seeing her questions my decision... I am very happy that I have lost almost 60 pounds and feel great , just thought I would share my story with you as a con just so you know some people do stop at the at the minimum percentage as well :) good luck in your journey.

  2. I had surgery on June 24th 2011.....started at 5 '3 256 and now 194-196 depending on which scale I use...currently I wear a 16 pants and was in a 26/28 and shirt med-large and was in a 2x.....I really wanted to be at 150 , so still 46 pounds away from goal.....Not one of the fast losers that are mostly in this forum.......But I do feel tons better and my knees thank me :)

  3. I chose sleeve knowing weight loss is 50-75% and bypass is I think 70-85%... my coworker who had bypass one year ago went from 238 to 134 and I had sleeve a week later then her and went from 256 to 196....I think I hit the 50% mark and have stopped to a crawl, maybe a pound a month,,,,so looking at her defenitely makes me regret my choice sometimes......Everyone is different though...Alot of women and men on here have lost 85-90 percent.....so just gotta go with your gut....good luck on your journey :)

  4. I am 11 months out and it started falling/thining out alot around 3 months and at 10 months has come to a halt thank goodness....Biotin will help with regrowth of hair/nails not with stopping the loss... If you have too much thinning a short hair cut will definetely make it appear thicker.. its just something we all have to go through in order to be at a healthier weight :)

  5. Same here, hair starting coming out at 3 months and Im 10 months now and its just now starting to slow down, but its very thin now....Happens to all and if you dont have it is very rare..........Just keep taking your Vitamins and it will aid in regrowth when the loss has stopped but there is nothing on the market to stop it . Just think of it this way, better to be thin/fit with thin hair then fat/unhealthy with full hair........trade off is so worth it  Good luck on your journey.

  6. My girlfriend had the sleeve done too and unfortunately she didnt learn to eat better. Even though she eats less she eats the same food that put her weight on in the first place and unfortunately has begun to put weight back on after 1year & 2 months with the sleeve...I think its in our genetics as well and everyone is different in how we loose and keep it off....good luck to all on there journey :)

  7. I started losing hair at 3-4 months and have thin hair to begin with...I am now at 9 months out and slowly it still comes up and is baby fine now...My co worker had bypass and had thick long hair and now is thin and she had to get it cut short due to the loss.........Just keep taking all Protein and Vitamins to make it as bareable as you can.....I would still be small and healthy with less hair then fat and full with alot of hair

    :)

    Good luck on your journey

  8. I agree with meg,,,,have her take a blood test to be really accurate. Even though we didnt have the Bypass we still dont get enough Vitamins due to the limited food we can eat and entail the limited amount of vitamins/proteins that come in that little bit of food that we do consume... I take mulitvitamin and Calcium everyday and get blood work up regular and so far my levels have held. Every thing in our body will pay for lack of levels and then unfortunately its like a tumble weed effect through our system. If you arent getting your Protein like right after our surgery when we drank alot of Protein Shakes then for sure your hair and nails and skin will show on the outside, but inside its doing the same thing....We knew there would be little sacrifices that we would have to make in order to shed the fat coat........good luck to you and I hope your friend will take the time to take her vitamins :)
