Scott 72511 replied to Janiece's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I agree, I love the Mio! Fruit Punch is my favorite, and I just got the Peach Tea yeterday and love that too! Havn't had any of the other yet, but I am going to try them eventually. -

Is this pain normal
Scott 72511 replied to Pittbull29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today those pains were justy about non existant. Felt really good today, best day yet since surgery. Even went out and did a little fishing! lol I just hope I didn't over do it and be real sore for tomorrow. No I didn't have a hernia and never have. I am just wondering if it's just the band settleing into place, because like I said I barely had those pains today. Everyday that passes I feel better and better, I hope that streak continues. Thank you for taking the time to give me some advice! Scott -
Finally Banded and Excited for the Future!
Scott 72511 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery was yesterday and everything went great! I had to stay over night because of sleep apniea. Needless to say I got hardly no sleep. Just not easy to sleep in a hospital. I am quite sore but it's nothing that hasn't been kept in check with pain meds. I am glad to be home to get some sleep, relax and start the healing process. Thanks everyone for their support! Scott -
Just Banded-July 25!

Yes to my knowledge the Plication is all about keeping it in place and to help lose weight faster. Questions for me was. Can I see what the band looks like? How long before your first fill? What exact procedure are you doing? Is your doc doing the plication precedure? What kind of diet will you be on pre op and post op. Because I see alot of people on here that have ALOT of different diets. I had to stay over night because of sleep apniea, will you have to stay over night? Just those types of questions...What I did was write down all questions I had on paper so I wouldnt for get what they were and took them with me to the doctors and just went down the list one by one. weather I thought it was a dumb question or not. I am still on a liquid diet right now and will be for another week. Yes I do get hungery but Protein shakes help ALOT. I make it like a smoothie milk, any kind of light flavored yougert, some fruit, and Protein powder. Put it in a blender and blend it all real well and drink. Delish! LOL in between I have suger free popsicles, broth, Water, coffee, tea, pudding, Jello is a huge help for me, basically anything that is liquified and non carbinated. I have even been a bad boy and had some soft serve ice cream. Your first few days after surgery being hungery is the last thing your body is concerned with. When I do get hungry and it aint time for a Protein shake, I just eat a fudge pop or one of the things I listed above. Hot things make my belly feel better if I am having a spell of pain. My doctor has told me and gaurnteed me that if I follow the "rules" I will not have problems. I cant speak for food issues as i have not had any yet. But i do know I have to SIP slowly on liquids and I do just fine. I hope this has helped you. anything else i can help you with feel free to ask. Scott -

Is this pain normal
Scott 72511 replied to Pittbull29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have occasional pain at the base of my sternum, like right before you get a hick up followed by a burp. Only thing is I never get the hickup or the burp. Or like yu gotta burp and it just dont come up. That and port site tenderness is the only issues I got. Not feeling sick or anything, I actually feel great and I was just banded july 25th. Has anyone else expirenced those quick pains near your sternum? Thanks Scott -

The only advice I can think of right now is, don't let ANY question go unanswered between you and your doctor. There is no stupid questions when it come to surgery and more importantly, your future. If there is any questions you have for me, fire away... I will answer any question to the best of my knowledge. I wish you luck on your journey and keep us all posted! scott -

I am doin alright I guess...Still a bit sore arund the port area, but healing up very well. Dr. Adam Goldstein was my surgeon at voorhees. And I recommend him to anyone! Great doctor, he is great at what he does, period! I am in cumberland county new jersey do I am not far at all from exit 1...lol Matter of fact I migh head that way this weekend to walk the boards. I was lucky to have lost about 55 lbs by seeing a nutritionist 6 months prior to surgery. Since surgery on monday I think I have lost a couple lbs. Good luck to everyone and stay in touch! Scott -
July 2011 Bandsters-weight lost so far
Scott 72511 replied to CurlyDiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on this past Monday the 25th. I lost about 55 lbs pre-op with the help of a nutritionist for about 6 months. I was on a liquid diet one day prior to surgery and am still on the liquids now and should be aloud mushies on the 2nd of august. I may have lost a pound or 2 so far since surgery but not really concerned with losing weight right now as much as I am worried about healing. Although losing is a bonus right now. I wish everyone luck with their journey! Scott -

Just Banded-July 25!
Scott 72511 replied to PittsburghPatient's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was also banded on the 25th. My doctor took my stomach and lapped it over the band and sewed it in place so it doesn't slip, not sure of the name of that procedure or if there is a name for it. I too have alot of gas and diareahha. Gas-x seems to help alittle bit with the gas. Pain is well controlled with oxycodine (percocet) makes me really tired and I sleep quite a bit. Getting tired and bored of sitting around already. LOL Can't wait to have some real food agin but that is a long ways off yet. It's pretty cool how we all were banded on the same day. Keep in touch and let me know how you guys are going! Scott -

Well...It's been a long time coming but I have to be at the hospital tomorrow morning at 8:30 am for surgery. Quite nervous about it, but at the same time I am excited for a new begining! This will probably be my last post until sometime tuesday because I have to stay over night per doctors orders because of sleep apneia. Sleep apneia being one of the problems I hope goes away with weight loss! So wish me luck everyone. And I will post agin when I am home. Scott

Hello Stan! Thanks for replying. Actually no my Doctor does not have me on a 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I see alot of people do and alot of people don't have to do the 2 week pre-op marathon. However I had to lose 35 pounds before he would do the surgery, so maybe thats why. I do have to do a liquid diet the day before surgery, and a 2 week liquid diet post surgery, but I think that is standard for everyone? I am excited as I can be, but nervous as I have ever been at the same time. How has your recovery been post op? And how do you feel now at almost a month later? Thanks Scott
