  1. Thank you for your replies. I will increase my water intake and cut out less fat. You people are great! Trish
  2. Hi I have a new problem in the last two months. I was banded in August and have lost 45 lbs and things are going pretty well. HOWEVER... At first I noticed that I had skin flaking from my stomack skin...now I noticed that my boobs are also having flaking skin. To be clear, there is no itchiness or red skin.. just the flakey skin. It disappears when I rub moisturerizer on the area. I always moisurize after showers and baths and have never had this problem before. No other part of my body is affected; I don't have dander problems either. Anyone have any ideas or have had this problem before. I think I am drinking enough fluids...maybe not? I'd really appreciate some help.
  3. Hi Foxy Gramma and all you other "60ites", I am here and just had my third adjustment today. I am losing weight slowly but surely. I have lost 35 lbs since I gained my new "band friend" in August. I have been able to eat just about everything as long as I eat slowly and wait a bit between bites. I hope this continues because it makes life easy and causes no problems for me. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Trish
  4. :biggrin1: I pledge to walk on treadmill 6 times a week for thirty minutes in the month of October. Trish Crazy Ates October Exercise Challenge1/24 Days of Exercise
  5. I found a great 60 plus thread and now I can't find it again. How do I get there:help:
  6. HI I was banded 6 weeks ago and I have been hungry this past week. I try to eat very few carbs so I won't crave...ie Head Hunger...foods that are not low carb and high in protein. On solid foods, I eat chicken thighs, cottage cheese and fillet of fish and beef. Very small amounts of veggies so far. When I was on mushies, I ate lots of chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, No fATcottage cheese, and a mixture of skim ricotta cheese, tomato sauce and low fat muzzerella cheese baked for 30s in the microwave. I do eat 4 SF popscicles everyday. Only 15 cal. each and they satisfy my sweet tooth. Now I have no restriction and can eat any food I have tried. My first fill will be next week. I have lost 30 lbs in the past 6 weeks and I am thrilled with that. I hope things get easier after a fill or two.
  7. I have learned from my doc that the body can use only 20g of protein at a time so you need 20g 3times a day. I found Unjury chocolate with skim milk and 1t of low sugar Peanut Butter and 1/2 banana in a blender made a delicious shake. I always added 8-10 ice cubes to the heavy duty blender and had a frosty. ...about 380 calories or less. Unjury also has a chicken soup protein mix. 100 calories ...no carbs...no sugar. ...tastes great. You can order online.
  8. Hi It's great to read about how others banded in August are doing. I learn so much from reading these boards. I was banded August 1st and I have been on solid foods for a week. It's like rediscovering how WONDERFUL food really tastes. I have not had any big problems and I am much happier banded than I was unbanded. Liquids and mushies were tough to get through but all that is forgotten now. I have an APS band. Can anyone give me any information about it? I have not had a fill yet...next Tuesday will be my first fill. I am hungry now with no restriction so I am hoping the fill will help. Some say it will take 3 or 4 fills to find the sweet spot with the APS band. I have lost 30 lbs and have another 100 to go. Good Luck to all of you and Congratulations on being "Over the Band" Trish:)
  9. Count me in although I am starting late. I can commit to walking for 21 days. Trish
  10. Hi I found a protein mix shake I love. It's Unjury chocolate. I mix it with skim milk and add a teaspoon of natural peanut butter and a 1/4 of a banana blend well and add ice cubes to make a frosty. Plenty of protein and smooth. Trish
  11. Hi I am almost 65 and I was banded Aug.1, 2007. I wanted to lose 132 lbs. when I investigated lap band surgery. I hope that is not wishful thinking. I have lost 23 lbs since the preop diet which started July 22. I am afraid to go on the scale again and find that I have gained it back. I am now on "mushies" and the doctor said most people don't lose during those 3 weeks and maybe even gain some because there is no restriction yet. The important thing is to heal and more losing will start after my first fill on Sept. 18. I am okay with losing slower than the young ones, and I am delighted to find a site for my age group. I have gained and lost many pounds during my adult life; the harsh part is gaining it back plus a few more. Hopefully the band will put an end to that. Unfortunately I have not been able to exercise much. I have knee problems and may need surgery soon. I'd love to keep in touch with others in this thread. Trish
  12. HI Marilyn, Thanks for updating the list. How can I access it? I am interested in finding others who had an Aug. 1 Banding date? Trish
  13. Judi, Stick to it, girl. You can do it. Only 3 more days. Try to imagine what you were doing 3 days ago. Three days in the future doesn't seem so long that way. You go, Girl.
  14. :clap2:Hi Everyone, I was banded Aug.1 and I'm now 5 days post op. I feel for those of you on preop. That was really, really hard. I did find that 5 days into my ten days of it, I was able to adjust. The surgery went well and I have not yet felt the dreaded gas pains. I am not yet hungry for food and I still have liquids for the first week to 10 days. I am trying to fit in my 60 g of protein and 64 oz. of liquids plus the new vitamins. Good Luck to all of you about to be banded. YOU CAN stick to the preop. Trish
  15. HI I had a pizza party with my favorites planned on the 6th day of my 10 day preop. I would not have scheduled it but it was of a house guest's wish, It was at my house and was by far the hardest day of the preop. I just chatted alot with the guests and moved from group to group. I didn't eat pizza although I did eat a bagel. My surgery was on Aug. 1 and the surgeon said my liver looked great. I am now 4days post op and feeling fine. Not I have only liquids but don't crave anything yet. Stick to it as much as you can.
  16. Hi Alexandra, I started my preop diet today; it will last 10 days. I can have only 2-3 protein shakes (Unjury) , water, crystal light, 3 SF pops, low fat cottage cheese. This is going to be a tough 10 days.
  17. Hi I have found a protein drink that's delicious. I mix 1 scoop of unjury protein Mix (20 g protein, 4 carbs, no sugar, 100 cal) with skim milk in blender and add a tablespoon of SF peanut butter and blend well. I also add ice cubes and have a smoothies when it's all blended. I ordered unjury from the net. Hope this helps. Trish
  18. Hi Judi, You certainly have lots of energy and a way with words. I guess I'll be the first of the "Crazy Ates" to be banded. I'll have the deed done on Aug.1 in CT. I haven't told anyone yet except my DH; he's not crazy about my having "surgery", but will support me in every way. Thinking of not telling any other family/friends until the surgery is over. Trish
  19. I love the name "crazy ates". Someone is pretty creative.
  20. Sally Jo, I am 64 and I am getting banded on Aug.1st. Please tell me what you have done to be so successful. I need lots of encouragement. Thanks
  21. Christine... We might be going on the same day 8/1. I start my preop diet on the 22nd...just protein shakes and cottage cheese. I found I really like unjury chocolate shake with peanut butter and skim milk mixed in a blender with ice. Guess that's what I'll drink most days.
  22. Hi all you Augusteers, I am joining you with a date for banding of August 1st. I am 64 yrs old and would love to hear from someone else getting banded in August who is about my age. I think I am about the oldest one on this site. Wishing all of you luck and happiness.. Trish2U
  23. Hi, Count me in. I just got a date of July 31st. I am going to read through this whole thread to get aquainted with all of you "Lucky 7's".
