    Question about gas/swelling

Oh goodness.. I hadn't thought about that. Will I need bigger clothing post-op?? I've been getting rid of stuff that I thought was going to be too big.. Maybe I should buy some sundresses or stuff?? Did anyone out there need bigger clothing post op due to swelling??
  6. Msakire.. There is a bariatric center in Patchogue.. try http://www.peconicbaymedicalcenter.org/bariatric/barspecsearch.htm . They take the patient, and EVERYTHING from the psych to the upper gi scan is all covered by the center as one package... if they take GHI, they'll take it for all... I'm assuming you live in Nassau since you're having surgery in Syosset.. BUT you can try Stony Brook Hospital... they have psychologists that will treat most anyone, and take just about any insurance.. there's also Opti Healthcare in Riverhead, they have a counseling department that would cover it.... But I think your best bet is to contact GHI and see who they recommend... $375 is alot of money.... BUT if it means you're on your way to the healthy new you... it's worth every penny. Many people on this site are self pay.. and don't regret a buck they spent. Good luck, I hear Dr. Geiss is excellent.

    Petrified and Excited

Ivy... I think you are making the right choice, and you will find that most people on thise board (myself included) have many (if not all) of the feelings that you have. If I've learned anything from this group ... it's that the band is a tool.. and YOU have to be committed to do what it takes to lose weight. Good luck with everything!

Is it too much to ask?

I agree with Marimaru... and honestly, I would start looking for another surgeon anyhow... even if it means travelling a bit. You're going to have a lifetime relationship with these people.. they should be the kind of people you WANT to have around. Good luck with everything!

Two weeks of clears post op does seem a bit harsh.. I know each doc is different... Maybe you won't want anything other than clears... I initially thought my doc said 2 weeks clear pre op, 2 weeks clear post op, followed by 2 weeks fulls, then mushies.. BUT when I cleared it up.. This is what my diet is: 6 days pre-op full liquids (including yogurt, pudding, and ALL soups) 1 day pre-op clear liquids 2 days post op clear liquids 12 days post op full liquids then 1 week mushies, then real food (No wonder everyone loses soo much wait right after surgery :-)

PHMOM- Sorry to hear you are in so much pain... I think the fact that some people recover so phenomenolly quick, makes us (or at least me) forget that this IS major surgery. I know you will feel better in NO time. Thank you for keeping us posted. Patty- I'm glad they caught your blood pressure issue early. My pre-op testing (back in February) revealed a leaky heart valve that I would never have found if I didn't have to see a cardiologist as part of mandated pre-op testing... Whatever date they choose to reschedule your surgery for (if they do end up rescheduling it)... You'll still be a-MAY-zing. Did they make do a pre-op diet?? That would be soo frustrating.. like being on liquids indefinately ... hopefully, that's not the case.

Know what I just noticed... That girl.. the one on the top of the screen where it says 'lapbandtalk'... her reflection is bigger than she is.. I guess that's why she's up there... Now it makes a little sense, because I was like.. Um, who is this girl (she kind of looks like the girl on scrubs) and why is she up there?? But if you look super dooper close.. you can see a reflection behind her of an arm or something that looks bigger than hers. Maybe I have too much time on my hands?

    Anyone downstate? L.I.?

I have BCBS.. they too required 6 month supervised diet... (Which, by the way FLEW by)... As long as you check in with the doc (your primary physician is fine) once a month... they consider that a supervised diet.... Maybe Cigna is different though. BCBS let me do weightwatchers, and check in with my surgeon once a month. Good Luck!!

A-MAY-ZING!! LOVE IT!!! LOVE IT!!!! Today is my first day of liquid pre-op diet.. DH ordered Cheesecake Factory take out last night as a 'mother's day' dinner.. It was sooo yummy... but this morning I woke up with a tummy ache, which is good because I'm not the least bit hungry.... so I'm onto a good start.
