Amy... you were banded only one week ago, and are CONSIDERING walking a MILE?!?!?!?!?!? That is SO encouraging.. because I have my daughter's birthday party next weekend (10 days post op), and I was so afraid that I'd have to be practicaly wheeled out to the yard and wouldn't be able to participate.. (And then have to explain to all my family and friends.. most of which have no idea about the surgery why I'm such an invalid)... Now, it seems like I might be able to at the very least participate with my daughter.. if not even help out a tiny bit (Don't want to OVERDO it with the clean up *wink wink*).. Thank you for the update, and the italian wedding soup broth seems yummy. Enjoy!! We had a mother's day bbq, and since I was on the pre-op diet (full liquids) I had to get creative.. I took a few slices of london broil, 1/4 hot dog and diced them, I sauteed them with onion, garlic, and some diced yellow and red peppers.. when everything was sauteed, I tossed in some corn, and beef broth and let simmer for an hour or so.. Then I threw it in the blender... YUMMY YUMMY.. I made a big batch and had it for breakfast lunch and dinner yesterday. Slurp :-)

Ragdoll... I honestly felt that the full liquids was EASIER than any diet I've ever done before.... once you get past the first day or so... I guess because it's like going 'cold turkey'.... I can see how hard it would be to smell other foods that are off limits... Maybe wear a nose plug??? :-) Crabcake.. I think you get the award for toughest presurgical diet. 6 WEEKA?!?! Are you kidding me??? I feel for you.

Sue.... I found the diet surprisingly easy... and after the fourth day, you don't even WANT food... I felt guilty even chewing on the noodles in my turkey soup (my doc ok's ALL soups preop).. You're going to do fine.

Sooo.... I copied an idea from the shrinkin' violets, and with some inspiration from our very dedicated Nimble Bean... I decided that I wanted to contribute something to the a-MAY-zing bandsters.... If you click on the link in this post.. it will bring you to a spreadsheet.. just for those of us banded in May for us to track all the pounds we lose along the way... You can use it, or not use it.. I *think* I included everyone on the sheet... BUT if your name is missing.. you can just add it. ENJOY!!! http://http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pXD3TIEikC0nz7SraZvYEJQ

Ok.. this might be a very naive question... BUT... If they are inflating your tummy with air to see the area they are working with... cant they just DEFLATE your tummy when your are done?? Do they do that??

I haven't been banded yet... BUT I've read on the boards 5 things to help the gas 1) Gas-x strips, 2)Avoid crystal Lite (Which is known to cause gas 3) walk, walk, walk 4)use a heating pad 5) Crouch down on the floor with a pillow beneath your tummy and stick your butt up in the air (Like the downward dog position in yoga)... Good Luck!
  19. Anyone got any creative clear liquid...er..'recipes'??? Or something other than juice, broth or italian ice???

Hi everyone!! Great thread... I'm a former 'hag' from New York.. all my 'boys' found partners and moved away... so now I'm just a straight minivan drivin' mommy. Ahh.. I miss the glamour of the hag-days. Anyway... goodluck to ALL of you!!! I'm on the pre-op diet right now.. 4 days to go!

Thank you guys for the clothing advise.. I'm going to head to Target tommarrow and get a few pairs of yoga capris (I'm normally a jeans girl)... they'll double as 'work out' clothes.. so I'm ok with investing money in them.. (Even though I was planning on not buying anything else in my current size)... Maybe I'll get a sundress or two as well.

What are you guys WEARING post op?? I read a few threads were people said they were very swollen for up to 5 weeks post-op.... Are you able to fit in your old (or even better... SMALLER) clothing?? How bad is the swelling?? Does it look like you've actually GAINED weight?? Thanks
