hey Cyndie...
Congrats on ur date n welcome on board
I too paid cash btw
I've been banded for 3 weeks... everyone has somehow a different experience, but for me it was fairly good thank God...
Right after surgery u shd be on a lot of pain meds so it wont be too bad... for me the 1st 2 days were the hardest, I had pain in my port side and I had terrible nausea ... I spent the night in the hospital and asked the doctor for sth for it so I can get back home... by the end of the 2nd day it was totally gone... however a lot of ppl dont experience that at all...
Some ppl have terrible gas pain but mine was very tolerable... U'll need to try to walk as much as ur body can as this helps a lot wth the gas...
U'll feel better by the day and by the end of the 1st week U'll be feeling much much better
I had fluids diet for 1 week (it differs from 1 dr to another) u ll be dying to chew... and would appreciate mashed food more than ever
1 great advice I read here b4 surgery is having a pillow to hold to my stomach on the way bk from the hospital...
Hope tht helps and plz let me know if u have any questions

I've had problems with Water retention for a while long b4 having my band, when I was on the liquid diet it was going on well... as soon as I started eating again it started happening, I drink around 8 cups of fluids a day, and yet its too bad...
Anyone have tips that would help?

hey wonderful ppl
so I went to my doctor's appointment today and turns out that I wont get a fill until early September so I wont have any fill during Ramadan, so far I dont have any restrictions, so I will be able to eat properly at night
however Im worried about the weight loss... since I started eating mushies I didnt lose any weight, so I dont know how it would be like after I more month of eating solid food n everything... I know Im not supposed to worry about that till I get a fill, but u know its a bit demotivating...
I'll start fasting tomorrow, and will keep u guys updated on how it goes...

Hello All, I was banded yesterday July 29!!!! I'm very pleased so far. I keep thinking this is the quiet b4 the storm!! Haven't had much pain, just a little (expected) soreness. I am waiting for the "horrible gas" I keep hearing about! lol I try to walk around the house for 5 mins every hour. Today I can have broth, flavored water, and tea. Broth never tasted so good! lol Got it form the chinese restaurant- plain. Yummy! Good luck to you all!!
Congrats on ur band hope tht u dont go thru any tough pain... enjoy ur broth n keep us updated on how ur doing

Im newly banded (10 days), today and yesterday, my stomach really hurt when I had cold Water b4 lunch! I've read here tht ppl say tht having Hot Drinks makes them feel good and eat better... so is cold water or drinks a bad choice in general? or it has nothing to do wth wt Im feeling? Its too hot when Im outside I really need a cold drink...

You guys are great! Thank u all for the support...
Well Im newly banded, I didnt even get a fill yet, but will have my 1st during the month... from what I read here the 1st fill is usually not that tight... so am hoping everything wd be alright
Congrats Heather on ur baby yeah I know ur not supposed to fast, not good for u or the baby.... Im so excited too... everything around here has the Ramadan mood already, we r all getting ready...
The 1 thing Im worried about that we r invited A LOT by family and friends for Iftar, which is amazing, but Im worried about what I will be able to eat at their tables I dnt like to make a big fuss about not eating this and that, just thinking I can sit down have the soup(which is always part of the meal) and then have smthing else a few hours later when I get home or sth
Need to do a lot of work to stay hydrated ... specially tht the weather now is around 100
Will keep u wonderful guys updated... just wish me luck

All the best to you on your journey.

I was able to sleep on my port side by the end of the 1st week... so keep trying till u feel its fine but take it easy on urself
