Dawn, When did your dr say it was ok to move onto pureed or mushy foods? Just curious cuz mine is not til week 3 & I'm SO tired of soups! What all are you eating on full liquids, maybe you can give me some ideas! Rhonda

Yes, I'm on Prilosec 2 x's a day & I'm just now feeling like I'm gonna live! Now if I could eat something besides soup! LOL

I'm right there with ya cuz my surgery was the 18th & I am supposed to go back to work on the 29th...I don't see how in the world I'm gonna do it! I dealt with trapped gas til just a few days ago & now I'm having this crazy burning type sensation in my chest & stomach,...kinda feels like real hard, sharp hunger pangs but when I eat it doesn't go away! I started out taking Prilosec once a day, then I bumped it up to 2 a day & yesterday I even took 3~ Today I switched to Prevacid & it is still not helping. I'm thinking maybe I need a prescription acid reducer...does this sound like what it is??? Acid??? I am not regretting my sleeve but I can sure say I'm very envious of others (KathyM) who've recovered a lot more smoothly & rapidly than me! Rhonda

Are you not having ANY problems with stomach burning or trapped gas? I wish I was that lucky! I can't seem to find anything that will make this stomach burning go away & I am just now over the trapped gas! I thought I was gonna die! Are you on full liquids or still on clears? Rhonda

LilMissDiva, Thanks 4 ur reply! I have left a message with the surgeon's office but they have yet to call me back. I am thinking they are not in the office this week. I read before the surgery about trapped gas but I NEVER in my wildest dreams would've figured it hurt this badly. I can't even swallow Clear Liquids (hot, warm or cold) without it feeling like someone's choking me & taking the life outta me. I don't know if I can take this for 2-3 weeks. Hopefully it'll give b4 long & I'll get some relief. I'll keep ya posted. Rhonda

I definitely feel your pain...I too had my surgery on the 18th & had to stay in the hospital for 4 days & am having a hard time! So are you having trouble with the trapped gas as well or just having trouble swallowing? Are you on full liquids or still on clear? I was told I could go to full liquids as of yesterday but I'm not even comfortable with clear ones so I'm not taking any chances. But I am getting very weak & my Fluid intake is only like 4 oz yesterday & not looking any better today! I know it will all be better in the long run...I'm just praying some relief comes soon so I don't wind back up in the hospital from being dehydrated. Thanks for your response. Rhonda

Has anyone had bad pressure in their throat & chest when they swallow? It feels like somethings closing my throat & breathing off! It's such a chore to swallow my liquids because of this awful pressure! I'm assuming its the trapped gas thats causing it but if anyone has any input, please reply! I don't know how much more of this I can take! Thanks 4 any info you can give me! Rhonda

I am 6 days post op & it's still horrible! I have trapped gas & it's hurting even when I try to swallow! My incisions are not bothering me at all, it's just this gas! I don't know how much more of this I can stand! I've tried walking, drinking hot liquids, using a heating pad, Gas X strips, Maalox and stretching...so far nothing has worked! Has anyone else had the problem of feeling like they can't swallow due to gas? I keep praying & hoping that the next day is better! Hang in there...we'll make it! Rhonda

Feel somewhat better today, but still have some air behind my chest, shoulder & now I'm having lower back pain. Is this from the trapped air as well? Someone please tell me this is normal! Hello. I was sleeved on Thursday, Nov. 18th & just came home today! I cannot drink hardly at all because it sits there & causes pain...therefore, it's very hard to make yourself drink when you know pain is going to follow it. Gas has been an extreme problem for me, but I keep thinking it will all go away soon, or at least I'm hoping it will. I have never regretted my decision for this surgery because I've battled weight issues my whole life & then was recently diagnosed with Diabetes in April 2010. I am so glad to have it over with & can't wait to sit on the loser's bench! Let's all encourage & pray for one another. We will be happy in the end...I just KNOW we will be! Rhonda

Dawn, Believe me when I say I FEEL YOUR PAIN! I have tried everything & still NO relief~! I cant even drink my water without the gas bubbles pushing it back up & hurting. Therefore, I haven't been drinking my fluids like I should all because of the excruciating pain! They gave me Maalox and Gas X in the hospital & I still have not belched or tooted! I can hear the gas in my tummy rumbling like crazy but it just won't come out or go up! I am miserable! I keep telling myself this will all get better in no time, but I'm really getting discouraged! I'll be praying 4 us & hopefully we'll get dome relief SOON! Rhonda

Hello, I had my surgery Thursday morning, Niov 18 @ 9:45 & just got home today! I am hoping someone out there can tell me what I can do to get rid of this trapped gas inside of me! I have tried Maalox, Gas X strips & walking, walking & more walking...it refuses to go out! I am miserable because of this, but everything else is healing fine. Pre Registering DONE!!! My surgery is good to go on the 18th @ 9:45! I am SOOOO excited! Can't wait to sit on the loser's bench! YIPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Well, THIS Friday is my day to pre-register at the hospital & talk to my surgeon. Any suggestions on the questions I should ask him? Have you tried the Unjury brand protein powder? I tried the chocolate the other day to see how it was going to be (surgery Nov. 18) & it was awesome! Tasted like chocolate milk. I've heard the vanilla is good also.

I will be having my surgery on the 18th...the Thursday b4 Thanksgiving! I can't wait. I wish everyone luck & hopefully we'll all have a speedy recovery & get on with our "new" lives.

I was NOT expecting a call this soon. I was under the impression that I still had 1 more nutrition class to attend, but I asked the lady several times if she was SURE it was right & she assured me it was APPROVED 4 ME! The only downside to my date is....no Thanksgiving turkey 4 me! Oh well...who cares?? Certainly NOT ME! Congrats brookc73, Flygirl, Vicki & TexasT...looks like we'll all be gettin' on the losers bench around the same time. Good luck & let's stay in touch.

OMG!! I got the call today that I was approved! My surgery date is set for Thursday, Nov. 18th! I can't even explain how excited I am...I can't wait to start my new "sleeve" life! I'll keep you all posted.

Can someone please tell me if it's really true that you don't need to drink while you're eating after you have the sleeve surgery? I have NEVER been able to eat without having something to drink, so this is really bothering me. I mean...if I have to then I'll just deal with it somehow, but I'm hoping it's NOT true! Carrie, I'm so sorry for your ordeal...but may I say that everytime I read your posts you say you're gonna stay away & not post anymore, but you always seem to come back & tell everyone how they don't understand. I, myself, have not been sleeved yet, but I find the people on this site very caring & full of information. I think they have gone above & beyond to try & sympathize with you. Instead of shooting them down, why don't you try to listen & maybe take some of their advice. I think you might really feel better about life if you would get some help! Praying you find the peace & comfort you need to get on with your life.
