  1. Have no been on here for a long time but I have been smoking everyday since about 6-7 weeks out. I am 3 months out now and have not had any side effects or anything that I know of. I do not get the munchies at all. I hardly eat. that is my problem I am not getting enought liquid, Protein or anything, I do not feel hunger

I was 485 pre op 451 day of surgery and I am 376 today. so been going good and now trying to get some workouts in! Later ya.

  2. Congrats on your loss thus far ! ! !

I'm not a guy, but have 2 guy friends that had VSG about the same time I did. They both bought the Under Armor type short sleeved or tank/razor back shirts to wear for compression. You can find compression garments on Amazon.com, but they both reported that the ones they tried were way to constrictive.

Thank you but underarmour does not carry my size!

  3. Hello there,

I am about 5 weeks out now, and my wife just got sleeved 6 days ago,

She wants me to find a man girdle to help with the hanging skin and to tighten up the muscles in the stomach. I looked on Amazon and did a quick google search but figured I would ask the PRO's..

So any men in here have girdles? C'mon now dont be shy send me a link in a private message if you have to LOL

Thank you guys also I am down to 405 i was 451 day of surgery and 485 before pre-op diet...

  4. Thanks guys! There is no way I will weight myself once a week, I will be weighting my self daily. I like to see the drop even if an oz or 2. Even on a day where it does not change or I only gained 5oz I am happy just seing the number 420 and below. I was just 485 less than 2 months ago.

As I have read on other threads as well even if the weight may not be falling off rapidly, I can see my waist line and body changing shape and it is a good sign. I cannot wait to hit that 400LB mark, my wife is already talking about 350 I am like damn babe dont rush it! lol

She is having her sleeve done in 12 days,, OMG I am nervous for her,,

  5. LOL I think it is funny that this came up [again]. Someone else started a thread like this and wow did people go crazy.

First, there are a lot of misconceptions about weed. People assume you will munch like crazy. If you smoked, you know how your body will react - no two people are the same. Some cancer patients try smoking weed to help them eat more but find it doesn't work for them. Some people just don't get that baked or munchy feeling as portrayed in the movies.

If you are a muncher when you smoke, why not stock up on healthy goodies that will be ok for your sleeve!?!? (Think meat and cheese roll up, SF Jell-o and pudding etc)

OK OK back to what you originally asked... when? when? when? IDK. Who would have that answer? No one I would guess. But there are people on this board that went right back to smoking cigs post op (I won't mention names LOL...). You are still pretty much newly sleeved. My humble opinion, I would wait 2 or 3 months. Smoking earlier the smoke may agitate the site of the surgery and slow healing but not stop it or cause infection.

You must be a strong person to ask this question knowing you would get beat up for asking.

Thank you for the great response. Thank you for the great information as well. I am different than most and always have rushed things along. I got out of the hospital the day after surgery, I was progressed to stage 2 in 8 days, I am eating the stage 2 foods but not purred. I cant do it, I just chew it and chew it,,,,,

QUESTION: Do any of you chew food up, then (SORRY IF I AM BEING NASTY) spit it out/dispose of it? I caught my self doing that yesterday and stopped myself like: Finish what your eating...." while my mind and taste buds where like "spit that out and take a fresh bite." LOL

back to my response... There is no way i am waiting 2 or 3 months, I have indulged and everything went fine, no munchies, no pains, felt guilty that was that, i may do it once in a while on the weekends.

I am a tremendously strong person and I call it how i see it, so I love the power of forums because people WILL tell you EXACTLY how it is. PLUS I am from New York City, born and raised in Brooklyn at that. So I know and respect truth in its rawest form...

  6. Smoking greatly increases the risks of ulcers and blood clots - especially right after surgery. Do it at you own peril. If you absolutely must....I would say wait at least until you reach goal weight.

This is a perfect example of transfer addiction. food is out of your life - so you are literally begging for permission to grab onto another old vice that is still around. Sorry to be so judgmental but you should have worked on these issues prior to getting cut open. It's not going to be any easier now.

You say you have incredible willpower? You're going to need it. Good luck.

Thank you for the information. And no need to apoligize about anything, You are right in what you say, and I (as dumb as it sounds) did not know I was not suposse to smoke after surgery. I didnt ask and I figured I would be fine,

I am going to google what exactly happens when you smoke(inhale) that causes ulcers. I dont get it ifs with the lungs or chemicals in the "smoke" .

I am doing good, have not had any issues with any food I am in purree stage but have been chewing food down to liquid, I cannot eat blended food,

"HarvestFarm" turkey burgers are BANGING, I ate about 35% of one it was great! no cheese, no ketchup nothing just the burger and it was nice and juicy...

  7. Bigg Mike - you're still healing, and will be for about six weeks. Now is the time to change your relationship with food. Life changes. Your doctor gave you a tool, he did not "fix" you. You're in the honeymoon phase, this first six - twelve months you can be the most sucessful. I didn't have pizza or anything fried until I reached goal. I am very picky about every single thing I put into my mouth, unlike before, where I mindlessly ate. Now it has to be "worth" it, it has to count. I savor each and every bite. I can eat one small piece of pizza, thin. Never, EVER the greasy pan pizza. It's up to you what you do with this. A bite or two is a bite or two. Kind of like falling off the wagon. It's a slippery slope. You know that or you wouldn't be on here asking us. I'm 11 months out, reached goal at just under 5 months. Even now, four or five fries off my husband's plate is rare. I do not want to be a statistic or someone on here whining because they are gaining back some of their weight. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.....I promise you that!!!! :)

Thank you for you great response. It really helped so I have not given in and I found the turkey pepp. but it is like really spicy for me. So I might try an eggface pizza with gilled chicken or something, Hope it takes the crave away.

  8. what are you eating/drinking?

It could be that you just need to use the bathroom too unsure.gif

Eating/Drinking Protein shakes, and all stuff on the list of what I should eat,,

I took a shower and used the bathroom and now it says 419.6! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was really scared for a minute(or upset) I can tell this is going to be so challenging, I am a scale hawk now... I remember when the scale I am using would always say error! I have to focus on those positives as opposed to freaking out over a pound, I know I know.

  9. I am on day 15 and today I was craving some pizza so BAD.. I am going to try eggface take on pizza, but I was just wondering when any of you had pizza? I know I cant/wont eat a whole slice but just a bite or 2 is all I want..

And I know this is bad but I also want to know how long did you guys wait before eating anything fried? I have been very good with my diet but I ust want to know these things cause mentally I am at WAR with my MIND.. lol

  10. I am on day 15 and supossed to be on purreed, I have just been chewing things till they get to that point, The last 3 days have been hard I have been really wanting some bad things, and I found out I have been eating 4oz servings when I am supossed to be eating 2oz.. OMG! lol

And today I actually felt hunger pains (first time) was very weird. I guess I am a baby to this and things will change in time,,,,

  11. Not sure about the MJ, but I drink normal coffee, have since four days post-op. No problems with it personally, and it's allowed on my program. Can you not ask your doctor about the MJ thing? I would ask my dr about it, without hesitation. Drs are meant to give non-judgmental advice from a medical perspective, not be the drug police, yes?

They told me to stay away from caffeine, for ever! I am going to call the Doctor now, but when I asked the doc's assistant she was like NEVER smoke again, and would not budge from there, I need to konw about coffee though.. LOL How many ounces do you drink per cup?

  12. Mike,

Making the choice to get healthy is a life changing thing. Yes your weight was out of control, which is what lead you to choose a Sleeve. You probably had some co-morbidities as well. When I read your justification for choosing to smoke MJ again (and yes that is what it was a justification) I was struck by the glaring evidence that you very likely have an addictive personality. People who are easily addicted to substances to stimulate their feel good responses in the brain and are heavy users of the substances weather that be alcohol, drugs, weed, cigs, or food. The good news is you can change what you are addicted to. You have already chosen to stop the addiction to food. You can choose to stop the addiction to substances that have a negative influence in your life (MJ is illegal, you risk being arrested, losing your job, not to mention you freely admit that life before the sleeve was spent completely baked on a daily basis) My suggestion is instead of focusing on things you want back from your old life, you focus on all of the awesome things that you have to look forward to in your new HEALTHY life.

With peaceful and hopeful thoughts for continued healing and good health

    Apple

All true, what you said is on point. But I LOVE MJ and have for almost 20 years I will not quit cause I do not want to., no excuses as to why needed. I do have an addictive personality but my will power is INCREDIBLE I quit drinking, smoking, eating crazy, all in one day cold turkey for pre-op . NOBODY could believe it, I will be drinking occasionally again but not how I used to, the smoking will always be a part of me.

I own my own business, so risk of job loss

I will never be arrested as I am never in a situation where that could happen.

When I said baked it was just terminology, Even the best MJ does not bake me or dumb me out...

So all I want to know is of the healing process really. The rest i can manage on my own, but REALLY do appreciate the love and concern, and again you are ON POINT!!

  13. Thank you for the responses. here is a little describ about me,

I have no nausea at all.

I have been a heavy smoker for YEARS,,, and I quit for the surgery yes but had and HAVE no plans on quitting permanently. I quit cigarettes over 6 years ago and that was a great decision. As for MJ I was smoking before surgery about 6-10 times a day. I work from home so basically was baked up. I had an extreme tolerance level, so it was a 10-30 min "feeling" at max. Now I know most people will not believe this but I do not suffer from Munchies at all. I actually would smoke all day without even eating and then eat a big unhealthy dinner, this is how i got so big, well plus no exercise .

I have given up coffee (3 cups a day), my Bacardi, and MJ cold turkey before the surgery, this mixed in with the new eating is a bit much for me. I need something back, Now I do not plan of going back to MJ as heavy as I was but would like a little here and there,

Thank you for the input again, I am most worried about the healing, not the munchies I have no appetite anymore and have to remember to eat during the day,, It is amazing actually.

so aside from munchies, and laziness. are there Medical risks to a pull or two lets say once a day or few times a week? Thanks guys. and girls.

Also when can I drink Decaf?
