  2. You will be in good hands. I was just down there 2 weeks ago tomorrow. Every single positive thing past patients have said on these boards I found to be true. Dr. Aceves is very professional and caring. His entire team is awesome. I am so thankful I didn't give into other's fears and back-out. I have lost 18lbs already and feel really good. Cathi

Congrats on your weight loss!!! Thanks for the info--woke up this morning and went "oh crap--what did I do??" Trying to get over my fears--but have already bought plane ticket so I'm going!!!

    Keep up the good work!!tongue.gif

  3. Hi! I FINALLY have it all together and am going to Dr. Aceves!!!! Flying down on Thursday, Aug. 4th and having surgery the 5th! Anyone else out there going the same time? Close to it?

Yes, I am flying down tomorrow for surgery on Friday the 29th with Dr. Aceves. I may just miss you. I will try to see you and see how you are doing though if I can. I am staying in town until the next Thursday. Best of luck to the both of us!

Yes--luck to us both for sure!! Let me know how everything goes and hope to see ya there! biggrin.gif

  4. Hi! I FINALLY have it all together and am going to Dr. Aceves!!!! Flying down on Thursday, Aug. 4th and having surgery the 5th! Anyone else out there going the same time? Close to it? Would love to meet up and talk down there!!!!

SOOOOOOO excited even though the hubby isn't quite as on-board as I would have hoped--same ol' worries as every other loved one--what if you die? What if you have horrible complications? What if..? What if..? I have to admit that they are the same questions I pose, but I HOPE AND PRAY that they stay "What ifs" and don't turn into reality!!!

  5. So, I finally made it to Tj.

My initial flight out of my hometown was delayed due to storms... so I ended up missing my connecting flight to SD. I ended up having to stay in a hotel and flying in the next morning.

Right now I am just waiting on my turn to get sleeved! He has finished one patient, and is back with someone now. Trish came in and told me I should be expected back between 530 and 7... my nerves are going haywire

I think the hardest thing so far is being without my kids. I cried when they dropped me off at the airport, I cried once I was alone in my hotel room, amd then i cried again this morning. I am a stay at home mom... so this is the longest I have been without them

Well, i will attempt to update later. Please pray that all goes well for me!

Will be praying for a safe surgery and a speedy recovery!!!!

  6. Hi, well I will be watching for you to post the surgery date. I am here to support you 100% of the way. You are going to do great. Yes, I live in Eugene--how about you were do you live? You will love Dr. Aceves. He is the very best there is!!

    Hugs, Suzanne

I live in the Portland area.... I am hoping to hear from loan office soon!!!

  7. I haven't had VSG yet, but had the same problem just this last weekend. I over-did it on the salt (beef Jerky, french fries, diet coke,etc.. and it was hot) and my legs and feet went balloon crazy---started to hurt a little bit even! Talking with the doc is always the best route, but I have no insurance so I went to the local pharmacy and picked up a diuretic and started drinking LOTS of water--took a few days, but I can actually see my feet and ankle bones now! Good luck to you!

  8. I think that whatever Doctor feels right for you is who you should contact for your surgery. Suzanne feels very confident in her choice, and others feel very confident in their choice. Who wouldn't want to pay less for the same thing? Who doesn't love a bargain? But if you choose your surgeon ONLY because of the cost, then you are doing yourself an injustice. I think that is what Suzanne was trying to say...? Go with your gut and trust God to lead you to the right Doc for you!

  9. Hi, I get that you are scared about losing 85% of your stomach. But for many years people who have had stomach cancer have lost part of their stomach and survived the rest of their life with a big part of their stomach gone. All I ever got from have my entire stomach was FAT--it allowed me to overeat most of the time. I honestly do not notice anything different about me other than 105 pounds gone and it is easy to maintain. You eat healthy food just like other people eat. I never feel deprived and I know for a fact that I will always be able to maintain this weight loss.

This is your tool to allow you to become healthy and never have to deal with any more surgeries. I love having a sleeve and I only wished I would have done this years ago. I am so HAPPY that I didn't do the lapband and be where you are right now. Honestly you will NEVER have any regrets about doing this once you have done it. GO FOR IT, and for the first time in a long time never look back. You life is going to become so much simpler.

    Hugs,

    Suzanne

Suzanne--thanks so much for your "push"! I am still waiting for approval for loan--then I am outta here! I noticed you were a fellow Oregonian--don't see much of us on here--must be because we are supposed to be one of the "healthiest" states...ugh...not for me! But maybe soon--looking to have surgery first week of August--need to get it done before school starts! Thanks again for your encouraging words!!!

  10. I am apart of many surgical teams ( anesthetists) and I love to pray with my patients if they ask. I pray anyways to myself and KNOW our LORD has His hand on my shoulder throughout the case. We are so lucky to be Christians.

Thank you--makes me feel better about asking--it can't hurt and can only help! :-)

  11. Okay--cheating a little bit--am 39 currently, but will be 40 in Sept. Trying to get everything together to get sleeved by Dr. Aceves...Am married to a wonderful man (thin), and have the 3 most amazing children ever: 16, 10, and 9....am looking forward to spending my 40th birthday lighter and thinner than I am now!!! And looking forward to the next 40 years being better than the first 40 years!!!

  12. Hi! I am new here too--I have had the same concerns and have prayed and prayed to hear if this is what God will allow me to do. I have felt very apprehensive about the surgery and spending all that money, but I truly believe that God will be with me, and He knows that this is what I need to do to live a better life for Him. I am wanting to ask my surgeon and medical team to pray with me before the surgery, but I don't know if I will...I don't even know if he is a Christian...I don't want to make anyone feel awkward! Trying to get everything together to have my surgery on the 27th! Yeah! If it is God's will, it will be done!

Good luck to you all and God Bless!

  13. I was not a revision but I can say that my recovery was uneventful and I am really pleased with my weight loss. They really know their stuff there and the hospital was nice.

Thank you! Like I said--I went to Dr. Ortiz for the band and didn't have as many concerns as I am having now...I think it may just be the fact that they actually CUT my stomach off--which, yes, is a good thing---but is really scary too! sad.gif

  14. Hello. I am considering getting a VSG with Dr. Aceves in Mexico....am new here and have found some info on him, but nothing recent...I am trying to schedule a date around the end of July...anyone else going around that time? Have some tips/encouraging advice for me? I had the Lap-Band put in by Dr. Ortiz--was great--but the band slipped, so now I have wasted about $8,000, (because-of course-I gained all the weight back plus some!) so I am leery about this procedure. I think it is better because of no chance of slippage, but if anyone is willing, who has gone to Dr. Aceves, to give me a little "push" I would appreciate it!!!
