  1. Wow how ingenious! Thanks for posting this. Sounds great.
  2. You might have hit the nail in the head. I read "a million" old and new threads on this website for 5 months before surgery and to this day (week 11) there is nothing I wish someone had told me. That can change any minute of course. (knocking on wood)
  3. I didn't exercise on my first 8 weeks. I simply strolled for a block or two every other day, for 10 minutes or so. More for relaxation & to get some sun. I have always had low energy and that is all I wanted to do. On my 9th week I finally started feeling "lighter" and I took one of the bikes in my garage to get a tune up. I have been riding it leisurely for about 15 minutes on most days. I am on my 10th week now. I had not ridden a bike in 30 years and I am 44. In April, after I come back from a trip, I plan to join a gym. That will be on my 4th month. I think it is great to start exercising early on, but I don't do guilt. It doesn't help at all. I do what feels right to ME. I am progressing at a pace I feel comfortable with. I hope this helps.
  4. No bungee jumping for me! Thank you. I want to run a 5K someday. That is as daring as I will get. LOL (The next person should answer SKCunninghams question and then 100 Sleeveds question) What is the most important thing you ever learned on this website?
  5. I always enjoy your posts about the calories you consume, your exercise routine and the exciting non diet protein foods you eat. It has worked wonderfully! Congratulations!!!!!!!!
  6. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :Banane57:
  7. I was given my 3 prescriptions to swallow whole at the hospital (with a tiny sip of liquid) and I had no problem with them. I was told to wait 10 minutes between them. My pills are small though. They are size of Zyrtec pills. Perhaps you can look those up and compare to yours.
  8. M2G answered what I was hoping to hear. Seems we will be able to continue to use them as we lose weight. Also, to my surprise, I want to look good everyday now. I don't want to wait to get to goal to start dressing nicer, so that is why I decided to go for it. Perhaps consider a basic color so you can use it often. I would have only bought one, but I have a 10 day trip coming up and I think I want to wear them daily. :-)
  9. By reading tons of tickers I came to the conclusion that an AVERAGE of 10 pounds a month is a reasonable expectation. I could be wrong, but that expectation has kept me sane and super happy with my loss.
  10. Aww shucks!!!!!! Have you considered trying Divas 5 day boot camp? http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/28139-the-basics-boot-camp/
  11. Went shopping with my lace Fat Free Dressing Flexees all day long today and I loved it! I wore it under my jeans and it stayed put. It was comfortable enough that for most of the day I forgot I had it on. I really liked my smoother torso. (I have never been able to tolerate my Spanx for more than 5 minutes). Just ordered two more on Amazon (one with lace and the other without). As everyone said, they are true to size. I will never go shopping for clothes without one on! Thanks everyone!!!!!!!
  12. I'm so sorry jasleeve! This is no way to live. I hope your doctors find the solution soon! Big hug to ya. Stay strong.
  13. I love your honesty! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!
  14. This made me smile. You sound like my sister. Perhaps a combination of the advice you have received here will work for you. Consider logging your foods on a website like myfitnesspal.com, so you have an idea of your calories, Protein & carbs you are consuming. They have tons of foods eaten at restaurants there. You can make this work! Best wishes!
  15. The nurse and surgeon believe all of my symptoms are related to gas. It makes sense, but I will keep paying attention on how I feel. Thanks everyone for your advice!
  16. I eat chicken Tikka Masala, veggies and or lentil Soup when eating Indian food (tandoori would be better but its too dry still). Ground beef when eating Cuban. Iskender when eating mediterranean. Baked chicken wings, Wendys Chili (I have to take a Beano type product for that one) and Starbucks latte are the other things I have tried. However, I don't think I could eat out almost everyday and still meet all my goals and lose weight. I might be wrong (some do it on Weight Watchers and were succesful), but I don't want to try it. I feel I already "push it" by eating out and experimenting as much as I do. With the "help" of a recipe book (or website), and small appliances such as a small crockpot and/or a george foreman $20.00 grill, you won't burn your foods. For flavoring, google marinades or pick recipes that ask for it. . See it as a fun hobby. :tongue2: Start with the easy stuff. Good luck!
  17. Am I still at a risk of complication? I am on week 10 and feeling great except for a few exceptions that might be related. Not sure if I am being hypochondriac or if I should call my surgeon. 1- For the last week or two (not every day) I have had mild pain on my left side, between my breast and waist area. Closer to the waist area. In a scale of 0 to 10, that is level 2. More of an annoyance than anything else. 2-Last night I was sitting drinking a Protein shake (Peanut Butter, Lactaid Milk &
  18. I don't really watch my consumption of sugar too much (maybe I should), but since we consume so little at a time, I like more Protein per ounce. At least 2 ounces of protein per ounce plus more for the milk. Having said that, if it's the only thing you can tolerate at the moment, and Lissas surgeon approves, I say go for it until you find something better. Have you tried the "Oh Yeah" ready to drink shakes? They are sold individually at GNC and they have different flavors. I hated the strawberry, but liked the chocolate and vanilla (room temperature). I now drink Unflavored
  19. I was allowed to pick between a 6 month and a 3 month. Call your insurance. Aetna has its requirements online, yours might too.
