  1. My husband is almost 3 weeks post opp and is experiencing the same thing, sever pain in his lower back and around into his lower abdomen. He isn't one to complain about pain, he didn't even complain in the first few days after his band was put in, so when he came home from work 2 nights ago in tears I took him to the ER. After 6 hours in the ER, a urine test, blood tests, and a cat scan, they told him his band looked fine and sent him home saying he has a stomach bug! "What the heck?!" I thought. Since when does a "stomach bug" make you hurt like that?! We came home and called his surgeon and the surgeon said to "wait a few days and see if it goes away". OK so now I am pissed! My husband is in extreme pain and no one seems to think anything is wrong! We have him an appt with our family Dr. 2 days from now (thats the soonest they could work him in), he is drinking liquid Tylenol as often as he can take it and it isn't even touching the pain. I hate that you are going threw the same thing, but I would love to know whats causing it!!

    I'M READY TO SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello All!! Just wanted to touch base with those of you who have been following this thread. Thank you all for the support and kind words!! Right now I am just working hard and following my diet to try to get these lbs off by the 8th when I see the surgeon again. What he tells me on the 8th will determine if I will find another surgeon or not. If he says I've lost enough to get my band well then he can give it to me and if he says I haven't lost enough well then I will seek a second opinion. Trying to stay positive and focused!!
  3. Life is crazy, but I am working hard to get these lbs off and get my band!!

LOL we totally need to set the date on our camera hubby!! The date for that pic was more like May 14, 2011!
  5. I've learned in our lapband journey and reading in the forums that every group of doctors has a different pre-op and post-op diet, some of which very a GREAT deal.

  6. Doing great! Doing my liquid diet and getting in all the excercise I can manage. I go back to the surgeon on Aug 8th to see if I have lost enough for him to give me my band!

    Vinegar

Whew! Glad to hear I'm not the only one craving vinegar!! Thought something was wrong with me LOL. I've been on a liquid diet and soon after starting all liquid I started craving vinegar. I researched and found that as long as it is distiled it wont hurt anything and it has actually curbed my cravings for solid food!! When I crave solid food I pour an ounce or two of vinegar in a little cup and drink it (I know it sounds totally crazy). The craving for vinegar subsides for a while and I forget all about wanting solid food! It has really been a blessing cause as most of us know doing a liquid diet is FAR from easy!!
  8. Hello there! I was reading your post and was just curious how you went about losing that 16lbs in one month. I am pre op and need to lose about to 20 more lbs before my dr will do surgery and was wondering if you would mind sharing what you did last month.

    I'M READY TO SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank y'all for the kind words and support. My hubby had his surgery yesterday and is doing wonderful. I am a little envious that I'm not recovering right along side him tho LOL. I did go weigh yesterday while we were at the hospital and I have to say that I am quite disappointed in myself. After a week of one small Small meal a day ( 4oz poultry & a hand full of raw spinach), 2 Atkins shakes a day (1 for breakfast & another for dinner), going to the gym twice a day, and drinking water like I am part fish, I have lost half a pound!!! Seriously?! Half a pound?! I don't get it! I want my band more than anything and I am giving it my all but obviously my all isn't good enough. At this rate I will never lose that 25 lbs and get my band.
  10. Headed to the hospital with my hubby! He is getting his band today!! Woohoo!!!

  11. Hello there :) I noticed you are from Dothan, I live in Ozark, just wanted to say hello. I haven't found many people on the site from our area.

  12. My husband and are are both being banded and our surgeon requires that we drink 1 bottle of Magnesium Citrate at 5pm the day before surgery, but I as well have heard of very few people having to do this.
  13. My husband is being banded Wednesday and myself sometime next month and our surgeon reguires 10 days of the Lovenox injections as well. 1 injection the night before surgery and one a night for 9 nights following. I believe the like the element of surprise because no one mentioned this in the first 9 months of our pre surgery process, not that it would have mattered much, but it still would have been nice to know. I'm fine with giving my hubby the injection but no so much with injecting myself (LOL) thinking he may have to give me mine.
  14. Just got my approval letter from my insurance company. Working my butt off to get this last 20 lbs off before the first of the month.

  15. Feeling great today!! Hit the gym twice yesterday and once so far today. I'm determined to shed this 25lbs and get my band! :)

  16. Hey hubby! Welcome to the site!! You're gonna love it! :)

    I'M READY TO SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you ladies! I'm trying very hard to stay focused and stay on track. Where there is a will there is a way. The surgeon will see me again in a month to see if he thinks I am "fit for surgery" so till then I will continue with the liquids only and kick it up a notch on the excercise and pray for the best.

    I'M READY TO SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you both for the well wishes and advice. I've been doing the 2 shakes and 1 small meal a day for quite a while, then 3 weeks ago i started the clear liquids. I plan on sticking with the clear liquids and living on the treadmill till I shed the next 25, but if you have any better ideas I would sure be glad to listen.

15 Days from being "banded" :)

Thanks for the support! Glad to hear you are doing well post op . I had a set back today and well I'm pretty upset to say the least. My husband and I started our journey toward getting banded about a year ago, we have been threw the entire process together and it has made for a wonderful built in support system. Today we went to meet our surgeon for the first time, as we have been dealing with "his people" for an entire year. I've already lost 25(starting weight: 475 current weight:450) since we began our journey and my husband has lost 35 lbs. We went in the surgeons office together, he reviewed my file first and said I was a "wonderful canadate for the surgery" and he believed I "would do very well with the band" only to follow it with "I am not comfortable doing your surgery at this time, as your BMI is just too high" (BMI currently 60 Starting BMI was 65). As I sat there in tears he reviewed my husbands file and gave it the stamp of approval. After convincing my husband to go ahead with his surgery, despite me not having mine anytime soon, they set his surgery date for next week. I am so excited and happy for my husband, but at the same time I am simply devastated that my surgery is postponed indefinitely. I have always had problems losing weight, which is EXACTLY why I was pursuing the band in the first place. It has taken me almost a year to lose the 25 pounds I've lost so far and now I'm expected to lose 25 more before my surgeon "feels comfortable" doing my surgery? Will that take ANOTHER year? If just plain "dieting " worked well for me I wouldn't have sought you out--- THATS what I wanted to say to him....
