  1. I am so happy I am not alone. I was waiting for all the negative comments about how I am not ready for the surgery and blah blah blah
  2. I know my surgery is not till September or October. I normally do not go overboard with food like this. But since I know I am having the surgery and before I start my pre-op diet. I am eating everything in sight, kinda like getting it all in before the last day. Did anyone else do this?
  3. What does the pre-surgery evaulation consist of? (psychologist)
  4. I would just say it b/c of female problems. Must men just walk away after that
  5. You can appeal it. You will have to have your dr on board to do the extra paperwork. It really has to be due to a medical reason why you can't have the bypass done. My surgeon was ready to go bat for me, but just last week my insurance started to pay for the sleeve. But I could not have the bypass done due to medical problems, it would have been very unsafe for me. Where as the sleeve would not been a problem.
  6. The point of the surgery is to have it as a tool to help us with weight loss. With the pre-diet it is hard b/c we still have those urges to eat more or excessived. I think many do cheat. That is why we have the surgery.
  7. I spoke to the Bariatric team yesterday with Humana Gold. Humana Gold is a MEDICARE PLAN. As of July 2nd 2012 they are now paying for the Sleeve. It is not on a case by case like Medicare announce on June 28th. I thought this was great news for ppl on Humana
  8. Yes I am on Methotraxate and Cimiza (injection) You will probably have to stop plaquenili too. I been on predisone for 10 years. He would like me to stop my predisone completly and terrifies me. I can't imagine not having any of that. And you have to be off of them for a month to 2 months afterwards. I would just make sure your Rheumatologist and Surgeron are on the same page
  9. The meds mess with your immune system. When you take the meds you are more likely to get infections and so forth. It takes awhile for it to get out of your system. I understand that part. I am scare to be out of commision for that long prior to the surgery. Knowing its going to take me awhile to bounce back, since I will get a flare from having surgery.
  10. Was just informed by my surgeron today that he would like me to be off my meds at least one month before surgery. He reallys recommends 2 months. I have rheumatoid arthritis and I knew I would go off my biologics. I didn't know he wanted me off the predisone too. I don't know how I will operate without my meds. I want this surgery so bad, but just this thought of going 2 months without meds stopping cold turkery will affect me.
  11. Medicare passed it on certain criteria and on case by case. What I understand it dosen't matter what state you are in.
  12. No I have not had my surgery yet. This is one of those appointments I have to do before they will schedule my surgery
  13. I have to see the Exercise Physiologists tomorrow. I do not know what this entails. I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I feel a major flare coming on. Not sure if I should cancel this appointment if I will not be able to move very well.
  14. I am very nervous about this. Seems brutal too me. But due to medical problems, she belives this will be the best outcome. I also feel like I should lead myself up to it. Maybe replacing a meal with a shake one time a day for a couple days before going all in like this.
  15. How many people like Unjury? I am going on a 3 month full liquid diet. I have not spoken with the NUT yet. But I was researching all of the protein prowders. Unjury seems to be the best in reviews with the unflavor. How is the hunger pains? I am supposed to have a shake every 3 hours, no food , except sf jello
  16. You can get magic mouthwash by a script, but you do have to swallow it. It will numb your throat
  17. Oh wow! Why is it so much cheaper there for? I was quoted $28,000.00 for self pay, here in NC.
  18. I am in NC. Medicare only covers RNY and Band. My surgeon believes we can appeal b/c most people can have the RNY or Band but rather have the sleeve. In my case, medically I can not have the RNY or Band. Fingers cross!
  19. How much does it cost for the sleeve in Mexico? Do you have follow up care with another surgeon in the states?
  20. My surgeon is going to appeal the denial for VSG. Since I will not be able to have the lap band or RNY. Medically I have to have the VSG. So pray this will work.
  21. Great news! I went in to speak to the surgeon about gastric bypass, b/c my insurance would not cover the sleeve. I have Humana Gold which is the supplement for medicare. The dr confirmed that I could not have the bypass due to medications I am on. But he mention that my insurance does pay for the sleeve. I still didn't believe him since I call the insurance company two weeks ago. I called them again today, and they do COVER the sleeve. I have too meet a lot of criteria, but I am so excited!!
  22. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus. I have not set up a surgery date yet. Excersise is going to be hard.
  23. If you best friend had bypass why would she not like you having WLS?
  24. HI KIM! I am from NC too near Charlotte. Where are you seeing your surgeon at?
