It's normal. You body takes short breaks to adjust. Just keep steady and stick to the diet guidelines and get in some exercise. You will get there. I haven't lost anything for months but I don't get enough exercise. That's my fault. Keep up the good work and stay positive!

Maybe you aren't ready for surgery. It's hard, but it's for the rest of your life. You can do it, and you will be so ready for the changes you will be going through after two weeks of following that diet.... Not to mention greatly reducing the dangers of a fatty liver during surgery. Focus on the goal and congratulations on getting sleeved soon!

My doc said it was a must. I'm sure it's got to be easier to remove if it's not tight on your stomach..

My surgeon gave me a 'I can't believe you just asked me that ridiculous question' look when I asked about it. He said he doesn't empty the band before surgery.

Oh my gosh girls! My daughter is 23 and wants the sleeve. I feel she's too young and might ruin the operation. How are you girls doing now...a year out or more? Was it still the right decision? Congrats!!

I got the band in 2007 and just hated it. I only lost about 50 lbs then gained back 15 over the course of a couple of years. The same surgeon did the revision to the sleeve and I couldn't be happier. If you are in So. Cal see Dr. Paya in West Hills and best of luck to you.

I think they just love you and are concerned. It's not very often that someone actually loses all their weight. They will get used to the new you! Way to go!!

Just saw this and only 5 weeks and 2 days left so I'm going with 6.5 lbs. My weight loss has all but stopped so I need this challenge!
Lap band starting weight 265
VSG starting weight 230
Current weight 179.5
Memorial Day goal 173

I thought the no caffeine thing was more of a suggestion than a command. I drink more coffee now than ever. About 3 cups a day with sugar free creamer only. Even with zero sugar it satisfies my sweet tooth and helps me get through my day. Before surgery I drank a ton of sweet tea but I don't drink any now.

I was cleared for "anything" after 3 weeks but I still didn't lift much until about 6 months....like my saddle. Have hubby toss the saddle up for you the next couple of months maybe and have fun!

Oh yes, call your doctor!!! I've heard that is blood.

I'm 9 months out and haven't lost anything for a couple of months. Just have 35 to go and I'm so stuck. I would like to know what that means too! Eat to lose? Work your sleeve? Sounds interesting!

I have absolutely fried with it. When we have sausage which isn't often, we put a little in the pan and it gives it a great taste. You can put it in almost anything that calls for butter or oil. I wouldn't substitute it completely....like if something calls for 1 stick of butter I would probably use 1/3 to 1/2 coconut oil and the rest butter...but who knows? Maybe you CAN substitute 100%...anyone know? I love it though. I put it in rice along with finely diced onion, red peppers, and pineapple for kick-ass hawaiian rice! You can sautee the rice in it first, remove from heat and add warm Water SLOWLY then bring to a boil and cook like normal then add the veges and fruit when it's done. So yummy. I even add in more coconut oil to taste after the rice is done sometimes. I've never used it on my skin though....but I will starting tonight!

Love love love edemame! I buy from costco, put in a zip loc baggie, leave the baggie open a little bit and micro for maybe 30 seconds? Soooo yummy and seasoned perfectly.

I was really fatigued in the beginning. I literally had to start going to bed an hour earlier than before and I still do. I come home from work, make dinner, eat, and I'm done for the day...so tired. I'm feeling better as the weight comes off. So hang in there and see your doc and nutritionist.
And heed what everyone is saying about dehydration. It's a very real problem!

I'm almost 7 months out and still have the heartburn if I don't take my prevacid solutabs. I can go a day or two without them but then it comes back. My doc says this is normal, but I've read lots of posts that say it should be gone in 3-6 months.
Anyway, be sure to take your medicine because the acid is bad for your sleeve.

giggling right now and thinking I need to put my hubby on a diet! LOL
thanks for sharing and congrats on your loss and gain!!

That doesn't sound like enough carbs. Some people do keep it at 30 or less but carbs are very important to body function including BRAIN function. I do payroll for 1400 people and I need some carbs or I sit around and drool all day LOL. Anyway, refried Beans are good (complex) carbs! Don't limit yourself from complex carbs. Yes, stay away from sugary drinks, cakes, pies, candy, etc., but veges, beans, nuts, legumes, are all good sources of complex carbs that your body needs. Enjoy those refried beans, to me, they were a God send! Congrats on your decision too by the way....I love my sleeve!

You guys look fantastic!! What an inspiration you both are to all of us. Thank you for sharing!!

Hi there,
I measure out my food and if I eat it all great, and if I don't, also great. But I don't eat more than what I measured and if I don't feel full right away, I do in about 15 minutes. It took some time to figure out though and I was throwing up a lot in the beginning :-(

I lost a lot more hair after the revision than after the band. I also take the max dosage of Biotin daily. Good news is, about 9 months post op my hair started coming back. It sticks up all over the place now LOL And I keep trimming the bottom thin stuff off.
