    January 2012 Sleevers!

It is definitely all about the baby steps, 4mykids. I went from barely being able to sit up without discomfort to walking the borders of my local superstore yesterday. I guess it all depends on how quickly your body wants to repair itself, too. I've always been a rather quick healer, so I'm very lucky there. Even if it takes you an extra week to get there, you will.
  2. I have liquid oxycodone for the majority of my pain, and they prescribed sugar free liquid Tylenol and I was told to layer them (i.e. take a dose of Tylenol a couple of hours after the narcotic) to really help with the pain. So far, that has worked well! I'm also on a PPI. Good luck with finding your solution.

    January 2012 Sleevers!

I'm three full days out from surgery and kind of starting to feel human again. Comparing how I feel today to how I felt yesterday is like night and day! If you're just coming out of your surgery, hang in there. You'll start coming around in no time.
  4. I'm in that "what have I done to myself??" stage of things, I think. I was sent home the day after my operation, released around 3 in the afternoon. My night last night was absolutely miserable! A couple of my incisions burn pretty badly, and the overall soreness is much more than I anticipated. I'm learning very quickly how big a spoonful is too big, how big a mouthful is too big, etc. :dizzy: I can't wait until everything settles into a dull ache that can be mostly ignored. This morning, it's taken the better part of an hour to get a half cup of applesauce in. Any day, now, I know that the euphoria of being on the losers' bench will settle in. Right? :behindsofa:
  5. I already feel a million times better than I did yesterday! I'm feeling much more optimistic about my ability to get calories and protein in today. Thanks for all the comments and support yesterday, everyone. I knew VST rocked.
  6. I don't start my Vitamins until after my follow-up appointment with my surgeon. I'm having half a scoop of unflavored Protein powder mixed into a bottle of G2 Gatorade... and I figure that will take me most of the day to finish. But with that, I'm not even breaching 200 calories. I'm not hungry, and I don't want more, even just in my head, the numbers just concern me a bit. You're right, PreciousCargo, we all react to this thing differently, and no matter how prepared I may have thought I was... there was no way I could know what my story would be!
  7. So... first week out, I need to worry more about fluid intake than anything else, right? I see people saying that they're eating 600 calories in a day and I know I won't be anywhere near that for quite some time.
  8. I check-in/register at 10:30 this morning and my surgery is scheduled for noon! I'm on my way! I want to thank everyone on here for helping me make it this far. Make room on the losers' bench!

    Here I Go!

My surgery took about three hours, and the nurses tell me I'm doing remarkably well! The pain isn't too bad, although I have a desperate thirst that one ounce of water per hour really isn't helping!
  10. My insurance had a 6-month requirement, but I wasn't given a date until almost 10 months after my initial consult, and my surgery is tomorrow, which is 11-months since my first appointment. I had a lot of stalls in the process, though.
  11. I have a bunch of the nectar fruit-flavored Protein powders that I got in a sample pack, and am starting Clear liquids as of this afternoon (procedure is tomorrow at noon!). Would these powders mixed in Water be considered clears? Or am I on sugar free popsicles, broth, Crystal Light, and water for the rest of the day? (I'm cool with that, I just know that the protein would help keep me fuller for the evening!)
  12. islandmom, the liquid diet is going well... I have had several moments where I've wondered what harm one last binge on some good ol' Pennsylvania Dutch food could do... but I am trying to keep my eyes on the prize and all that! I haven't had one single bite of anything since I started this thing on the 8th, and now the surgery is only five days away! I had my pre-op appointments yesterday, which kind of induced this HOLY $(*W$# this is happening!!! feeling.

    Sleeve Twins

Tenna, I'm the 23rd, too! Triplets!
  14. I'm on the downside of my 2-week liquid diet, now... I feel good and the excitement is trumping the nerves. Oh, and I've lost almost 16 pounds so far... :D

  15. islandmom, mine isn't a revision, but we are being sleeved on the same day. I know this is what will work for us!!
  16. I have only one friend who seems to be very against the idea of surgery. She's lost a lot of weight, gained a little back, and is paying for Weight Watchers again to try and lose more. Every time I mention the surgery, she goes off against it, saying that she's seen it fail so many times and blah blah blah... completely ignoring the fact that a) I am not doing RNY, and b ) I am ME, not any of those people she knows who regained all of their weight. It's insulting, and I'm not sure our relationship will survive my having the surgery. My procedure is on Monday, the 23rd.... so time will tell very soon.
  17. So far, I've really liked Unjury's chicken soup, strawberry sorbet, and unflavored. Chike Nutrition's Chocolate is excellent. (Both brands you can find online.) For ready-made... my absolute favorites have been Atkins Advantage shakes. I'm on day 8 of my 2-week pre-op diet, and I have cast my net far and wide to try a lot of the different ones out there in such a short time!

    January 2012 Sleevers!

I'm on day 2 of my liquid diet and have been tracking my intake.... It looks like I'm getting fewer than 1,000 calories/day and 80-100 grams of protein. I didn't really get any numerical guidelines from my surgeon, so I'm hoping that's.... ok. I've been using the Unjury products and Chike powders. Chike will send you a box of samples for just the cost of shipping if you go to their website. They're decent, but I do like the Unjury better. It seems to be the gold standard... and costs an appropriate amount for that. >.< Today has been much harder than day 1 was, but I'm feeling ok.

    January 2012 Sleevers!

I'm starting my liquid diet today... it's 1:30 and I have had 67 grams of Protein so far. This feels like a good start and it's definitely keeping me full (for now). I do, however, think I may take a nap. Good luck, everyone!

    60 Down 200+ To Go

Debi, I've got 200 (maybe more) to lose once I have my surgery (two weeks!). I don't really know how much I should/need to lose, because I've NEVER been a normal size in my life. I'd be happy to keep in touch with you. And best of luck in your journey! 60 pounds in two months is amazing.... I hope to do as well!
