I've seen considerable number of criticisms of him based on nothing other than the political differences between him & the critic....which of course isn't material to the LWS issues.
If he can do well given the obstacles he faces on a daily basis....it gives *me* more encouragement too.

He is no different than any of us! You MUST focus on the success not the failures! 100 pounds didn't come without sacrificies of foods we all love.... Attitude Attitude here! Positive please?

The fact is, he lost 100 pound in a year. How on earth could that be considered a failure? He may not be at a normal BMI yet but he is far from the BMI he started at.
Doesn't matter why he did it, he took that step and no matter what one thinks of his politics, I'm sure he feeling much better. He has greatly increased the odds that he will be there longer for his wife and children.
Time will tell if he loses more or just keeps it off.
That statement applies to all of us.

Sorry I didn't answer before now, but I didn't get on the computer yesterday. I loved Dr. McDowell. He is a wonderful caring doctor. I had my surgery on July 15 so I'm a week out from surgery. At the last minute I change my mind and had the more drastic RNY surgery. I think it was the right decision for me.
I have Medicare insurance so I had a six month waiting period but then I was able to schedule surgery once I had jumped through all their hoops.
Everyone I have dealt with at their office is great. You will be in good hands. I would suggest attending the support group their office sponsors and also go to the gatherings the people have put together on their own. The support of people who have gone before you will be invaluable.

Dr. McDowell did my band on July 10th. I can't say enough good things about the entire staff at the office, and the care at the hospital. If only all medical treatment was so caring. :smile2:

10 bags of sugar gone from me

So, I stepped on the scale this morning and boy was I surprised. I have lost a total of 26# since my first visit with Dr. McDowell (7/20/11). Can I just say this man is AMAZING. I am so happy I did this. I put on jeans today that I have not worn in more than 9 months. I am so happy with my band. I withstood both Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and Krispy Kreme donuts this week at work. And the scale rewarded me. As did my closet of Multiple sizes. Time to Celebrate. Think I'll have a Protein Shake.
