  1. Howdy...where are all the bikers gone? lol I bet you're all out riding!!! My name is Susan and I ride a Vulcan 900. I haven't done any riding this summer, though at 4 weeks post-op I feel like it wouldn't be an issue. Funny how the teenage sons don't think it's cool to ride with mom though...so everywhere we commute together, I have to take a car. WAAAHH Oh well, can't wait to feel "small" on my bike next Spring hahahaha Maybe it will even not feel like a spectacle riding behind hubby on his VN2000. Just checking in here...there have got to be more folks who ride!? See ya! Susan
  2. FABULOUS and inciteful post full of great tips. You truly do look amazing and I'm TOTALLY going to steal the trying on clothes just to take pictures!! HAHAHAHA LOVE it. Thanks for the post, you have done an incredible job. Woot WOOT
  3. Fantastic! Wow...you look amazing.
  4. lol...I almost missed the punch line!! So sorry that window closed, but that is AWESOME!!! Good for you. hahaha
  5. Yeah, I was also low with a 10.5 count...but after 3 weeks of increased Iron, I was 11.7 the day before surgery. lol I started taking my iron again at 3 weeks post-op... I had a textbook awesome recovery.
  6. I was so sick of sweets, I added some dill and onion powder...
  7. I feel ya!! I'm a floater too
  8. I'm sorry you feel this way. It's emotionally exhausting to feel like everyone has you under their emotional thumb... I use to try to please everyone and it burned me out. You are not a failure. You know you weren't given an instruction, right? So how can you carry the burden of someone elses mistake? How can you let THEM make YOU feel like a failure? I don't think your Dr. thought you were perfect and now, because of this he has suddenly discovered you are not. If it's a deal breaker issue...you've got nothing to lose and need to find your voice. If it's a wedge between you, again...you need to bring it up and tell him how you feel. If it's not that big of a deal as far as safety, surgery, and follow-up go...then I think you need to have the grace to be kind to yourself and let this one go. Scrape your shoe and move on; because it's not worth the effort you could be spending on getting ready for pre-op and recovery. Don't let the things out of your control, have control. Focus on what you need to do, should do, want to do... Best of luck
  9. Wow, yes...that's a dynamic lot of emotions! Good for you though...I say, check you out all you want! lol I love that you didn't spill the Beans and tell the PT. How fun of you. Wish I were a fly on the wall the day he figures it out. hahaha Congrats on such a lot of hard-work, I'm sure!
  10. Lindsey, It totally CAN Be a big deal if you are passing stones...Nasty nasty nasty side effects when a stone is going through your system, not to mention if you get a blockage. Glad you got it checked out!
  11. Popsicles and ice chips may help. I was also thirsty...but it gets better when you add food. Chapstick for the lips...
  12. Trish M. Patient coordinator phone 619 955-6771 or cel 619 395-5347 I'm not sure what problems Bikerchick is referring too, but Trish is the Patient coordinator that physically lives and visits you in Tj. Good luck. You can read my first blog for my "play-by-play" experience with Dr. Kelly. I'm returning the 17th of this month with a friend.
  13. Who knew? Welcome to the other side of that nightmare!! So glad you found the root cause and worked through it. WAY TO GO!
  14. That's GREAT. You look incredible...holy moly!! Good job...that's inspiring!
  15. Thanks Karen, Thanks Melissa. I'm trying to not let it bother me... I am not on speaking terms with my scale and it has been banished to a different bathroom. I have decided to weigh once a week (until THAT ticks me off...then maybe once a month! lol).
  16. Go mamma! Glad to hear things have gone so well...
  17. Yes to everything Jen said.. How will a gastric bypass help? Seems pretty radical. Maybe go back to liquids for a couple days. Are you drinking Protein shakes? Has your surgeon done any post-op tests??
  18. Hi Sara, Congrats on all accounts! Susan
  19. That's a good word Myrori! Thank you very much!! Intersting thought on the exercise...I've actually stopped the treadmill and just tried to move more in the day BECAUSE of the supposed calorie deficit. I was thinking along the same lines as you...that my poor body is in shock enough, be kind and give it a couple days off. We'll see, I haven't been on the treadmill in the same amount of days I haven't weighed. lol
  20. Love my Keurig!!! And you may not have to always "sip, sip, sip"... I'm 4 weeks post op and as long as I'm 45 minutes past a meal, I can drink like I use to. True that!! I know not everyone is like that, but there is hope!!
  21. I am the same way...no problems with any food or liquid that I've introduced yet at week 4. Of course, I'm also experiencing an 8 day stall... To be honest, I've read the same comments and had your exact thought! lol
  22. This is my fav. All of the others are AMAZING too, but I think this sums it up so eloquently. Tears of joy for you SunnyD. Uggh, I'm wrecked for now...*sniff* In a good way!!! Sooooo happy for you, Susan
  23. I've been a little reserved over the whole dreaded "3 week stall" and so I am trying to encourage myself. This is what occurred to me: 1) I haven't weighed in 3 days (YAY for me) Does that count as a NSV or is it an anti-NSV? lol 2) I have successfully gotten ALL my Protein in since the day I started Protein drinks and am now able to do it with only 1 Protein shake per day They aint fancy, but I'll take 'em!
  24. Fantastic!!! WOOOHOOO I can't wait to shop my closet! lol
