Any July 2011 Bandsters?
MassMommyRebecca replied to LisaB68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep your eyes on the prize AlyGurl! You can do it, just make sure what you are burning in the gym isn't too different from what you are taking in, you don't want starvation mode or faintness...get that protein in somehow! -

I've tried the Crystal Light Pure and wasn't a fan. It is very tangy and I didn't think it dissolved all that well which made me gag. I hate the aspartame as well, it tears my throat up! I'm trying to drink plain water the first part of the day and resorting to CL when I'm sick of water. -

Day 1 complete. I met with the dietician today and mentioned my concerns about energy for exercising these two weeks. She told me that it would be no problem to take one of the protein shots I get at GNC 20 minutes before working out to make sure I can get through it, so good to know! The Dymatize Elite shots taste straight up nasty but deliver 25 grams of whey protein in 2 or 3 oz, no sugar, 99 calories. -

It is Day 1 of Pre-Op for me. My surgeon's office requires two weeks with three protein shakes ( Glucerna) and two fruits per day. And lots of non-caloric fluids. I don't see how I'll have any energy left over after doing my day for exercise....anyone else have any thoughts on that? -
Any July 2011 Bandsters?

YES. Especially since I have managed to adopt some changes in the last six weeks to prepare and have shed over 20 pounds. It makes me angry at myself, I am in my early thirties, able to move the scale downward when I focus, but I can never make it last or keep it off. Part of this journey for me has been reading books like The End of Overeating and understanding that there are so many factors to be considered. Your genes, metabolism are luck of the draw. The ways that restaurants and the marketing industries design, advertise, and prepare foods ensure that the dice are loaded against people with issues with overeating. I am not making excuses, I know I am ultimately responsible for where I am now, but sometimes it helps to know that the game isn't always fair to begin with. At least we are taking control and making the decision not be victims any longer. -

Well I got my PCP medical clearance today, one more hurdle cleared! EKG tomorrow, diet starts Wednesday! I managed to lose 21 pounds cutting carbs, sugar, and butter the last 6 weeks...if only I had the ability to maintain that motivation long term instead of short bursts, maybe I wouldn't be here now. Then again, maybe I would, my family's genes stink! -

Hello Everyone! I have been checking out the site for the last 6 or so months as I jumped through my insurance's hoops waiting for approval. I am happy to say that barring any unforeseen problems I will be banded July 14th!! HOORAY! I am 32, mother of 2 in Massachusetts, with a family history of obesity and a BMI of 43. I have lost 17 lbs since starting this process, and am slated to begin my preop diet on Wed. What I am most looking forward to is relief from Achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis. This is such a great way to make new connections with likeminded people, and am excited to join the group!
