  1. My doctor has me on two weeks liquids, two weeks puree, and two weeks soft. I get to start puree this Thursday and I'm so glad.
  2. Hi Houston17,I'm a pickle juice drinker but I've found something even better than pickle juice. I order Bob's Pickle Pops; they crush whole dill pickles and then freeze the juice. I haven't asked my dietician about pickle juice yet, but I will ask her at my next appointment. Here is a link to Bob's http://www.bobspicklepops.com/
  3. Congratulations and good luck on your journey!
  4. I had my surgery on April 10th as well. I'm doing well and I'm able to get in 60 grams of protein and 54-64 ounces of water daily. My big incision on the left side is still really painful. I can't wait until I'm fully healed. Oh, I'm tired of protein shakes too, but they are necessary.
  5. I wish you good luck and a speedy recovery.
  6. Congratulations on your surgery date!
  7. I was sleeved on April 10th as well. I had a "slow" swallow test too. I'm able to get in more fluids now and it seems to be getting better everyday. My sleeve tends to be the slowest when I first wake up and then it loosens up. I hope your husband is able to get fluids in soon.
  8. If you have Medicare and Medicaid; you shouldn't have to pay anything. Medicaid pays for anything that Medicare won't pay for (the 20%). In my case, Medicare (classic) didn't require weight and nutrition classes but I took a lot of them waiting for the sleeve to be covered. Your best bet would be to call Medicare and ask about your specific coverage. I hope this helps.
  9. I didn't have a catheter either.
  10. I'm five days post-op as well. I have been getting in 53-64 ounces of fluid in including protein drinks. I get in 30-54 grams of protein in. I still haven't had a bm. I'm still taking pain meds at least once a day. I like your positive outlook. Good luck!
  11. I'm not too fond of protein shakes right now either. I had my surgery last Wednesday and my stomach can't hold much. I don't know of any other way to get 30g of protein in me with my new anatomy. Hold your breath and just drink; you'll be on soft foods before you know it. Good luck!
  12. I can only find Unjury products online.
  13. I'm 4 days out as well. I've been trying to get in one ounce of fluids every 15 minutes. I have been getting in 53-64 ounces (including protein drinks). I've been getting in 30-52 grams of protein in. It's a full-time job getting in my liquids and protein. I'm on a liquid diet for two weeks. I hope you start to feel better.
  14. I'm 3 days out from surgery as well. I bought some Pacific brand tomato soup and I add dry milk to increase the protein. I also have unjury chicken soup protein.
  15. Yesterday as in April 10th.
  16. I was sleeved on Wednesday and I'm finally home. Overall, it has been a good experience. My pain was well managed and I'm able to tolerate water and protein shakes well. I'm so happy to be on the Loser's Bench.
  17. Good for you! I can't wait until it's my turn.
  18. My surgery is tomorrow at 7:30a but I have to be at the hospital at 5:30a. I'm not going to get any sleep tonight. I hope all of our surgeries go well and we have a speedy recovery.
  19. Congratulations on your surgery date. I wish you safe travels and a speedy recovery.
  20. My surgery is on Wednesday and I am nervous too. Congratulations on your surgery date!
  21. I pureed my chicken with broth and a little garlic powder; it tastes okay but it's a little bland.
  22. I have already pureed chicken and portioned it out into an ice tray; I removed the frozen cubes and placed them in a Ziplock freezer bag. I just don't like how the pureed vegetables turned out, so I bought some stage 2 baby food squash, carrots, and sweet potatoes. Has anyone else tried baby food for the puree phase?
  23. I'm doing alright, my preop diet is low-carb and low-fat. I start my one day liquid diet tomorrow. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30am; I probably won't sleep a wink that night.
