  1. I had my surgery last Thursday (the 6th) at about noon. Surgery went well and I did have to have a hernia repaired. I slept on and off most of the day, but I made sure to get up and walk around every few hours. Pain was tolerable and I didn't have the aches in my shoulder or neck like some describe. Friday I was released and slept most of the way home. Come to think of it, I slept most of Friday. ;)

Saturday I felt better and only took 4 naps! :P But I had a hard time getting liquids in. I only drank about 16 ounces.

Yesterday I went on a walk around my neighborhood and felt pretty good. I managed to stay awake all day and got 32 ounces of liquid in (one was a Protein drink with 42g of protein!).

This morning I woke up feeling so much better! I'm feeling about 80% today! I'm able to concentrate, but now I'm bored!!! I'm off work all week and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself!!!

  2. I'm back home from being sleeved yesterday. As expected, they fixed the hernia I had. I'm still pretty sore and very sluggish. Having trouble getting my liquids down today as I'm experiencing the slime! No fun. Will try to figure it out tomorrow.

Good luck to those coming up behind me in the process.

  3. I wasn't nervous at all until I tried to go to sleep last night. That's when it hit me. I'm all set and ready to go now. Just waiting for 7:15 to roll around so I can hit the road! I'll still be early, but I'm excited!!! I'll post as soon as I can afterwards! Thanks for the well wishes!

  4. I had done months of research both online and speaking with others who had had WLS. I had decided to go with a local surgeon and signed up to attend his seminar. There were about 30 people in attendance. Within minutes I was doubting my choice due to a boastful attitude, rudeness and trashing of other surgeons by this man.

I think these seminars are a great way to really get a feel for who you will be dealing with. I walked away knowing my research wasn't over. I did a webinar with the surgeon I choose because his office is several hours away.

I believe most Centers for Excellence require a webinar/seminar attendance to keep their accreditation.

  5. I'm on day 8 of my pre-op diet now. It's a combination of medi-fast and liquids. I'm hanging in there, but I've had some VERY difficult days. I'm losing weight which helps make this easier to deal with, but the surgery can't come fast enough.

Looks like you are about two weeks behind me! Good luck on your surgery!!!

  6. I'm so sorry to hear that you are second guessing your decision to open up. I'm sure that it was just a shock and that they will support you 100% in the end! Keep your chin up!!!

I have been careful in who I have disclosed my upcoming surgery to due to my fear of the same response. I don't need anymore stress than what I currently have.

Sending positive, SKINNY thoughts your way!!:)
