  4. thank you for responding & thats great! i have been over weight my entire life so i plan on gathering history for the last 5yrs. ive been on weight loss meds thru doctors & will be getting my personal trainer to vouch for me. hopefully, all this will help! my bmi is 49.1 which is extremely high. im only 5'1 & 22 yrs old. :-/
  5. wow! thats great. i pray i get the same results as you!
  6. thats great to know! what were your requirements and have you been sleeved already?
  7. i wanted to start a thread about insurance. it would be greatly appreciated to all pre-op patients if we all had an idea of what insurance you have and if they denied you or approved you. also, what were the requirements made by your insurance company because some are different. i have 1199SEIU affiliated with aetna. ive read stories about aetna approving so im assuming mine would too but i wont know until i talk to my surgeon. i called my insurance company & the lady gave me the run around & couldnt say, "YES, WE COVER VSG!" or "NO, WE DONT COVER VSG!" so its a dreadful waiting game. thank you to all the people who respond. us pre-op'ers definitely appreciate it. <3
  8. CONGRATS!!!! keep us posted. i cant wait to get this call. if you dont mind me asking, what insurance do you have? or are you self pay?
  9. yayy! im so excited for you! i cant wait to make my post like this!!! i pray all goes well & come back & tell us eveerything!!! lol
  10. im attending my seminar on july 5th as well. maybe we will be sleeve twins & have surgery on the same day! lol
  11. AWESOME!!! only word that could come to mind. stay blessed<3
  12. nicely put. im not sure of your age but i know at my age (22), people tend to be a lot more cruel. i think the part that made me decide to keep it a secret from most ppl is the fact that i dont so much care for ppl saying, "wow, she lost a lot of weight. the WLS really helped her." but i can see people snickering and making fun that i had to go as far as WLS to lose weight & keeep it off. its unfortunate that people in my family are so cruel but i guess its something i cant change.
  13. thank you very much! i meet with a nurse practioner, nutritionist & go to a seminar all on july 5th. im very anxious & excited. i know this is the surgery for me & with Gods help, ill get approved thru my insurance. i know for a fact i qualify for it. its more of a matter if they cover vsg. im praying! i was completely agaist weight loss surgery until about 2-3 weeks ago when i went to babysit for my employer (im a nanny & cake designer) & i saw her. i knew she had been dieting (which turned out to be the pre-op diet) and she had went from a size 22 to a 14 in 6 weeks. after that, i was maybe 10-15% on board with the sleeve. after doing HOURS and spending days researching, i became 95% on board. now, im 1billion% on board & cant wait for my lucky day!
  14. very well put! ive had both my tonsils & gall bladder removed & im getting my wisdom teeth removed next week! haha. i guess im so used to being over weight and people OPENLY commenting on it. the one comment that SERIOUSLY gets under my skin is, "omg!!! i didnt know you were pregnant!! congrats." its a double slap in the face for me since im not & i have pcos (irregular periods, very difficult to get preggo) due to weight gain. it makes me so depressed & 10 times more embarrassed than any other comment. then they used to do it in front of my bodybuilder boyfriend who wanted kids! i felt embarrassed and like a complete FAILURE!!!!!
  15. i think id tell strangers to help but never distant family members. ive made that decision
  16. just today, i was anxious to open up to my aunt who is by far the most negative person in the world but as quick as i was about to tell her is as quick as i changed my mind. i may as well go on my local news channel & broadcast it myself.
  17. see, that right there is why i wouldnt want to tell many people! i can hear my distant family members saying, "oh my god, jasmin lost so much weight!" and then another person saying, "dont be fooled, she had WLS! thats the only reason!" negative things like that make me want to keep it to myself.
  18. thats VERY... •deep •scary •true food has always been my best friend and enemy. i can be so depressed & food & a good movie will lift my spirits. whenever i am dieting & i get stressed or depressed, i jump right off my diet head first! its going to take a lot of self digging to pull thru it all.
  19. i once lost weight thru just dieting. i went from an 18 to a 6 in 4months... after losing the weight, i was still insecure but my insecurities werent as bad. you tend to worry about less but you still worry. thats where acceptance comes into play. you have to accept where you were, where you are, how far youve come & where you are going. no body says it will be easy but it will be worth it. its like being in a relationship with a man that cheats on you. he may change & you will be happier cuz he seems to be doing right by you but if he ever comes home a hr late from work, you will always hear that little voice in your head saying hes up to his old ways. thats when you need to trust him that hes not cheating. same for weight, you need to trust yourself that youre changing and trust that youre not how you were. i hope this made some sense lol
  20. i have an aunt who im close with but we have a love/hate relationship. shes the most negative person you could ever ever EVER meet. im definitely not going to tell her. my mom & her are sisters and are very close & my mom agreed that keeping it from her is the best move until maybe further down the line.
  21. i pray all went well! <3
  22. congrats on completing most of the process to getting sleeved. i am JUST starting now. ive read that in can take a few hours up to a few weeks. you can call your insurance company and ask for a status update. i will keep my fingers crossed for you. tons of good luck dust your way.
