  1. this is basically the question i have! call your dr and ask him flat out. take drastic measures to lose it if you cant. theres a herbal fasting where you just drink tea and something else & its high in Fiber. thatll make u poop a lot. youll lose about 10-20lbs just on that. let me know what happens with the dr. im supposed to be on a 6month diet but my primary dr told me not to lose weight or my insurance wouldnt approve me so im confused!
  2. i have a 6 month monitored diet but im confused on whether i should actually lose weight. my primary dr told me not to. im so confused! & the bariatric unit had told me that the insurance will look at all 6 months :/
  3. congrats! how long was your preop diet? i have to be on a 6 month diet but im so confused. my primary dr told me not to lose weight because then insurance wouldnt approve me but will they deny me if i dont lose any weight?
  4. heyyy! welcome to the site. im jaz from ny. i cant answer most of your questions because im new to this myself but i can say im in the same boat as you. last tuesday, i met with a nurse practioner & a nutritionist. my NP answered all the questions i had. my nutritionist also gave me a "diet" to start but the following day, i met with my primary dr (who is a family friend) & he told me not to lose any weight. so now im confused! he said the insurance will feel like i can do it on my own and may say to wait another 6 months and see how i do. i asked a few ppl on here.. some ppl said that their insurances go by starting bmi. when i called the bariatric unit, they told me my insurance will look at all 6 months. so now im lost! do i lose the weight? do i try very little? or do i go HARD? i lose weight quickly but i put it on even faster! thats my issue. so now im lost! :/ well, anyways, i just wanted to share my experience with you. im 1/2 way thru the process of getting all my tests done & it hasnt even been a week. i have a 6 month process as well.
  5. is your insurance through your job? how willl surgery be covered if it is?
  6. oops! i didnt keep reading im sorrry!
  7. wow.. thats FAST! good luck to you.
  8. congrats!!! thats 2 days before my bday
  9. oooooooh ok!! thank god you dont. god bless you.
  10. your insurance didnt require you do a 3-6month diet? sheesh, u r lucky! im confused on whether im supposed to actually do it or not. my primary dr told me not to do it but act as if i am trying... but wouldnt my insurance deny me if i dont?
  11. its so nice meeting you! when will you be sleeved? did you have a 3-6month diet? im confused if im actually supposed to try & lose weight or not. my primary dr told me not to but wouldnt insurance deny me if i dont lose something in the 6 months?
  12. wow! congrats!!! you didnt have a 3-6month diet?
  13. i am very sorry to hear about your loss. just know that jennifer is dancing with angels and watching over you & your family. she gets to probably eat all she wants and not gain a pound! lol lucky her! i hope you enjoy your trip to ny! it has been so nice lately. i have yet to visit the beach & im hating myself for it. one thing im excited about is, im should be sleeved (if all goes well) by december meaning by summer 2012, ill be new & improved!
  14. please reply back... we r worried!
  15. hey wendy! well let me start off by saying congrats on your surgery and i pray all goes well for you! keep us posted. im a "new yawker" so i know EXACTLY what you mean. its hard to walk down the street and not just want to stop. it seems so natural, you dont even have to be hungry. its as simple as taking a sip of Water. lol. maybe thats why a lot of nyers are over weight. i also know all about the whole overweight since forever! i remember always being called fat. my cousins were all stick figures and wore tiny clothes but i was wearing bigger sizes and could never fit their clothes or shoes (because my feet were fat). i look at being over weight as normal now. but when my skinny friends or family are in the car with me, i see a huge difference. i feel like i take up so much room. its embarrassing. :'( im only 22. i hate it. i feel like in their heads, they are saying "wow.. shes fat" not a day goes by that i dont have to swallow my pride & keep my chin up & stay confident. so leaving the old me behind feels very good! i cant wait to abandon who i am right now.... what i feel somewhat sad about is abandoning the food. i know ill miss it but its killing me slowly. everything that glitters aint gold. so im looking fwd to being sleeved. hopefully in nov, if not in december (if im approved). good luck to u! <3
  16. wow!!! congrats! u definitely r blessed! lol. my primary dr told me not to lose any weight for that reason lol. but then im confused, a lot of ppl have said that their insurances will not approve if you cant stick to a diet. i figured ill drop 5lbs a month which i can really do in a week with no problem. i think even that is too much. maybe like 3lbs showing weight loss is slow but still happening. :/
  17. im a 22yr old female with a bmi of 46-50. ill be 23 when/if i have surgery. i think i will do decent on the diet. ive been on it before. i always fall off because im always hungry which i wouldnt be too much with the sleeve.
  18. i thought the same but i called today & they said it all counts, the whole 6 months. :-/
