  1. Ahh.. Thanks to you both. I think I know where it is now. Guess I'll find out for sure when I go in for my follow-up.

It should be under your breasts around where your sternum is. You should have an incision site there.

  2. I have a really stupid question, but where is the port? I am one day post-op and haven't felt like poking around on my belly too much. However, I am wondering where the port is. For some reason it didn't dawn on me to ask in the hospital.

  3. I laughed when I saw this because I had a similar though earlier....I am looking forward to being able to tie my shoes without getting out of breath. I got banded yesterday so I am going to get there soon!! Funny the things we can take for granted.

Today I was bending to move clothes from my washer to my dryer and my belly got in my way. THEN, it occurred to me that this is the LAST time that will happen!!! I start my 2 day fast tomorrow and banded on MONDAY!!!

  4. I totally understand that! I was so bloated yesterday from the gas, but I made myself up and walk the hallways at the hospital to move it through. Today, I think it's mostly gone because of it.

Congrats!!! I was done on Tuesday so I am 3 days out. Little less sore each day!!! Can't wait till the swelling goes down so I don't feel so pregnant.

  5. Hi Cat Lady! I was banded yesterday and there was a gentleman in the room next to mine who was over 60. He seemed to be doing great... was up and walking and in very good spirits. I think that you should go for it!

After fighting for this with my ins I finally got approved--now I'm having second thoughts about doing this. Do you think those of us over 60 are being unrealistic about being banded. I need to lose about 60 lbs to be comfortable with myself (165 lbs). Have high blood pressure, knee pain, back pain, urinary incontinence. I am wondering if it is worth the risk of being banded. I am not too worried about the surgery itself since I have full confidence in my surgeon......but the long term complications I have read about are really scaring me. Sorry for being negative ... need to make my decision soon. I know if I don't do this now I will never have this opportunity again.
