  1. Hi, Became part of banded world 4/20. Doing quite well I think with only over the counter drugs and return to work today. I am having lots of gurgling and gas in stomach (no gas from surgery I know lucky ). Is this normal? Gas is even at night when not eating my 1/4 cup of shake. I'm thinking just body figuring out new system. I'm not sure if hungry as the gurgling is sort of the type when really hungry. Smelling food gets me but think so far not really physically hungry and trying to get my meager meals down (not hard as its two sips). Also lost about 9lb before surgery but only about 3.5 so far... Eating next to nothing think be fast. Not going to freak out yet.
  2. When I try to click on any in the social group forum it says I need a password. How do I get around this? Thanks Cyndi
  3. I know shouldn't complain. I'll be slow loser but 1-2 lb a week consistently I'll be thilled. My history is work my butt off and lose 1lb then next week think work as hard and gain .5... Just so unmotivating! Do have the gas x strips guess should use a little more!

    Omg! I Just Screwed Up!

I'm on same as you but only allowed 2 oz per meal. That makes for a two sip shake! Hang in there.

125 Members So Why Are We So Quiet???

Hi, I had to do 2 week liquid diet pre op. I got banded 4/20 and have to do another week on it so I think it's as much to just get you ready for life right after band as well as losing weight, shrinking liver. I just figured out also as really interested in this group that the apps on my iPhone and iPad will not access any groups it wants a password. If I access site directly not through app I can get in. Kind of frustrating . I'll let admin know as started thread on site support.

    Nervous Wreck

I was banded Friday and believe me had all the same fears and emotions. . I am doing really well. I took today off but could have worked i see now (only slight pain bending at port site). From the posts I read this is more the norm and certainly at a week people are fine. It's a big step and know won't be easy but we all have researched and know it's right decision for each of us personally. I'm sure all of you with surgery coming up will do well. I'm pulling for you!
  8. I'm sure all the docs are different. If he says ok to eat that much then sure it is ok. I slept as well as possible the first night as the deloclan (sp) for pain they gave just knocked me out. Keep doing well. Best wishes. Cyndi
  9. Mine was found during surgery and I had no symptoms go figure. He said he finds about 20% of his patients have one found in surgery. He also said that was his decision to use the realize band as wider and they found less chance of risk of slipping with hernia patients. I hadn't read that.

I was lucky and don't have the gas pains. Incisions are sore. Getting up is worst. Walking doesn't seem to hurt. I'm not hungry at all but trying to force a few swallows too and stay hydrated. Water and ice chips taste the best. I'm worried about nausea and they didn't give me medicine for which I'm pretty sure the night nurse said they would.. More of worry as don't really have it now.

Thanks and welcome too. How is day 2 post op for you?
  13. To me the main pro was not to have a foreign object in my body with the sleeve. I went with band as less risk , adjustable and removable and seemed like success was high (and I'm highly motivated),

I join the 4/20 band club too! All is very similar story. It was freaky wheeling into OR but then don't remember anything. I was thinking they should sort of make you go to sleep before wheeling in. It's like a bunch of waiting but when they are ready it's like zip bang boom wheeling you fast. Surgeon repaired an unexpected hernia so he said went with realize band as it's wider and less risk for slip due to hernia. The pain med after made me so tired I barely could keep my eyes open to talk to family and nurses. Was good for night though as slept well. Today much better and walking doesn't hurt. Getting up is the worst pain.. Waiting now to go home(been cleared) its been about 23 hours since surgery. Tired but happy to go home. Haven't eaten much and weighed myself and 5lb more then right before went in. Must be bloating and flluids. 219 was start, 210 going in...not counting what is now:). Looking forward to a healed journey. Feel free to add me to my fitness pal too .. User name cyndi_w. Good luck to all and here's to smooth journey.
  15. Getting ready for an early 9am surgery. So happy to get it done early but they just called and changed to 2:30. Not suppose to drink after midnight so called office and said is that right not even Water as would think dehydrated . After long discussion the office said well water is ok. Just wondering if others had nothing with later surgeries.? Cyndi
  16. Yea little worried its last surgery so that might mean even later if all doesn't go perfect during day with others.
  17. Good luck! You will do great. Let me know how goes. I'll let you know
  18. Best of luck. Let me know how goes. Sure all will go smoothly
  19. Thanks for the support .. Keep saying I know I can do it, I know I can do it! Such coincidences... I know some of what you went through as my husband had rectal cancer 2 years ago too and went through all the same.. Now that is a big surgery and this is nothing compared to that. You are a strong person! You got me thinking and will see if I can get a massage now that I have the time... Need one badly especially in the stiff neck area. Checking it out now! Cyndi

    April Bandsters!

Glad all done and hope gets better soon. Keep posting please. I'm close to you at 5'0" (was closer to 5'1" but not measuring me there anymore!). I was at 219 and think will go in at 210 tomorrow. Those were highs for me as I've hovered in the 190's for 8 years after kids.. Ready to get it going too:)

It looks like all for me have password. I was interested in the springster and Illinois ones. I think got into springster one time but can't navigate back. Maybe iPad restriction although think my iPhone is having same behavior.

    April Bandsters!

So glad everyone is doing well this week. Congrats! I'll start clear liquids tomorrow for surgery Friday! I wish I had the last super green light too! I like that Dr. Need to make the run to store tomorrow as thought prepared but had nutrition class today and learned about the extra protein powder etc. Kind of stressed about the puréed week and soft week as feel like I need to plan out to make sure to get protein and not a good planner. The liquid diet was easy as not much choice and just made 2 shakes in am to take to work.
