Well it makes me not feel so bad to see others sturggling with the scale. It just is driving me nuts as I'm eating so cleanly and even really picking up the exercise. I'm not sure how the body holds on but it's got to give up sometime!

I kind of wish for the uncomfortable as I seem to eat whatever and it's ok. Just dry chicken has caused a little uncomfortable. I even can not chew to well but trying to remember but catching myself . I get the hiccups to sometimes. It's like one not constant when you get normal hiccups at least for me. I'm trying to stick to the high Protein and feel much better when on high protein diet. Glad you are doing well.

I felt better as like you said some lose allot but seems like more (and I'm one) stop losing quickly even though taking in so low calories. I sure hope scale moves eventually ! I think like folks said combination of shock to body and healing first and a bit of being in starvation mode so your body tries to hold on. Seems like every says don't worry about the first month so I'm trying not to.

Wouldn't worry so much about eggs as you probably won't have for a week post op (if you Dr. is like most) as you will be on liquid diet first week. I overstocked broth! I still have about 8 boxes of it. Jello, shakes, popcycles..week two at least puree'd foods which was fun to have tuna, Soups, egg salad thin, etc.

Hi, Surgery was 4/20 and I'm with you in bandster hell. I've lost 16 (9 two weeks pre op, 7 first week, and .6 third ). I will only weigh myself on Friday's (I will be shocked if that scale is ever a friend) and hoping the scale gives me a little love tomorrow.. Feeling great other wise and can eat now which is awesome and not too many intolerable foods since band is open. First fill isn't until 5/30. I am hungry which is tough but trying to eat a protein snack between meals to ward off the beast. 20 more days and hoping to get some help from the band as you know at this point it's just another diet. Keeping a positive attitude as this site has helped so much and hearing the success from people even after they have struggled. Hope everyone is doing well!

Intro & A Couple Of Questions
c945105 replied to bringiton's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You are so lucky you have BCBS. They seem like the best insurance. From all I read you will be fine especially with apnea which is considered serious. I have UHC and they said only "serious " co-morbidities would work which they get to determine what is serious. Basically it was diabetes, hypertension, or apnea is all they would accept under 40 and for 5 years and you had to have two of then!! I have insulin resistance taking metformin for, high cholesterol , triglycerides , and reactive airway. Not good enough after 3 appeals. Anyhow good you have BCBS and sure you will get through approved. Good luck -
Self-pay costs of different surgeons.....
c945105 replied to amlus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
$17,000 Kane Center in west Chicago suburbs. Includes 1 night stay at hospital and 3 months office visits and fill. After $300 under flora and $150 w/o. Also offer optional insurance (which I bought) for complications (slips, erosion). I bought 2 years for about $1,300. -
Hi, I'm feeling good. No pain and digestively good. I'm pretty low carb and mostly tuna, chicken. Well it's way low carb for me anyhow and body feels better for it. I only weigh on Fridays as don't want to be depressed . Getting more walking in and feeling like I can increase but they didn't tell me I could. My only problem is I am hungry. No fill in my and can pretty much eat anything but working hard not to. Fill will be 5/30 and hope it helps! The planning and still being hungry shortly after will get old in 3 more weeks. If you are on fitnesspal I'm cyndi_w if you want to friend me. Kind of cool hearing from people that had surgery same day .

Hi , I was banded 4/20 too. I'm doing and recovering I think as well as could be expected. First few days sore at incisions but quickly subsided each day. I was lucky as didn't have the dreaded gas issue most talk about. The recovery nurse said my dr tries to push as much gas out of body before closing so maybe there is a secret to that . I worked from home the first week which was nice but could have gone in. I have a computer/phone job. After 5 days hunger started coming back. I have been pretty diligent to stick to the diet but able to eat more. Now on regular food I can eat most anything . Dry chicken hard though . I'm somewhat in bandster hell though as only lost .6 pounds second week after losing 7lb the first week. Thinking lack of calories is shocking body but not freaking out yet since I've read about this. Feel great now and hoping can stay strong until fill 5/30. Cyndi

Day 5 Pre Op ...question
c945105 replied to singingmom2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 15 day post op and it does go down but I still think mine is not fully normal (some swelling or fluids still there) but close. At 5 days for sure not. Maybe at 8,9,10 days seem to be less distended. I had allot of gurgling/gas when I ate unil around 7 days. I was surprised it didn't last longer. Give it a few more days. Good luck Cyndi -
5'4 Whats Your Goal Weight?
c945105 replied to JanellesMommy8210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5' 1" and when I was 130 I was a size 6. It was tough to maintain (I'm pretty muscular) and was still an 8 at 140. I would be beyond the world if I could hit 130 but my dr is fine with 140. I have no desire really to be lower then a 6. Not going to starve myself and the muscles don't think will let me:) -
Thanks for post. It really helps us new people. I'm shocked at how some Dr take our health and life so casually. Glad you found a better one.

Can Not Getting Enough Protein In Diet, Lead To No Weight Loss??
c945105 replied to newme0617's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm getting the protein in 11 days out but they told me just 10-15g per meal. I'm worried as goes up as they said add the protein powder but not really sure how to add that doesn't taste bad. I got beneprotein and the packets for just 6g are big. I put a little in applesauce and was lumpy not great. Put some in potatoe and was on. Not really sure what I'm going to be able to throw it in. -
First day painful, second day better but still painful, third day much better and each day then got better. Hang in there. Agree I wasn't using the strips enough. When the gurgling starts really helped. Hang in there!

I hadn't seen these but will look for! Trying to get protein in but hard on week 2. Bought those benne protein powder but it is so much for like a little soup it made it so thick I couldn't use. I can't see putting in applesauce. How do others use the powder best? Thanks

HAd surgery one week from today. One more shot to give myself tonight . Surgery went well but had hiatel hernia they didn't see on X-ray so no fill. I was lucky with none of the gas pains people talk about. Pain subsided after a day but i was glad to be in the hospital a day. I went back to work on Tuesday (could have been Monday) and lucky that i have flexibility to work at home if I want and did this week which really helped. On liquid bariatric diet (shakes, very thin soups) and suppose to eat 1/4 cup or till satisfied. First 4 days this was fine and worked through lots of gas and gurgling (gas x does help immensely as all have said). Last three was trying to keep to 1/4 but it's more like 1/2 as my digesting feels better and I am hungry. I think the hungry part this week is harder then the 2 weeks pre op diet as you could drink allot of the shakes. Bowel movements not an issue since about day 2 but very loose and watery (not worried about that). I am now dying for something solid. Tomorrow will be on blended and can't wait for egg salad and tuna salad. I am worried without a fill I will be starving soon. Trying to take it one day at a time..I hope I can stay focused as my stomach starts to feel normal. The up side is 7lb down post surgery for a total of 16lb in three weeks (for sure a record for me by a long shot for that much in that time frame).. Feel pretty good but little weaker and tired but on so few calories I would expect it.
