    Is it bad?

Is it bad that I secretly hope I end up getting a BFP (positive pregnancy test) before my surgery?? :001_tt2:

    Physical Hunger

oh, I hope it stays away! So far I do not feel hungry and if I am not thinking about it, I miss my meals. Oops! For that matter... I do not really feel full when I eat either. At least not in the same way I used to feel full

    bloating

I am three days out of surgery and I am feeling pretty good except I have horrible bloating in my abdomen. I did not have a drain put in and I wonder if I should have... it is hard and pushed out... At what point do I get worried and/or email my Dr? Am I worrying for nothing, is it normal? Did anyone else have this issue? how long until it resolved?

    i want to cry....

i am only 2 days out of surgery. so I am not much help. I can say I am not really hungry at all. Kaiser does only IV fluids the day of surgery, Clear Liquids for breakfast and lunch the day after and full liquid after that for 2-3 weeks. so, today i had 1/4 cup yogert for breakfast, Protein shake in between meals, 1/4 cup cottage cheese and 1/4 cup applesauce at lunch (did not finish either of them), Protein Shake in between meals, and 1/4 cup yogert and popsicle at dinner. i like yogert, applesauce, pudding, cottage cheese, cream soups etc so I am hoping I will be fine. I am still dealing with bad gas and reflux issues after every time I eat and/or drink so that makes eating no so enjoyable at the moment
  7. i don't quite know what you mean by and 'options' class, but i will tell you the process... 1. get referral from your PCP 2. Attend a general bariatric surgery overview class (your PCP will sign you up for this class. 3. after you attend class you have to let your PCP know if you want to continue to pursue bariatric surgery. They will then refer you to the bariatric program. 4. the bariatric center will then call to set you up with their required class, which is a 3 hour class with one of the surgeons who tells you all about the different choices of surgeries, risks, benefits etc. There is also a dietitian who talks for about an hour about the pre-op and post-op diets. At this time you will learn all the pre-op requirements and so on 5. at that point you need to decide if you want to move forward in pursuing bariatric surgery and schedule a three hour appointment where you meet with the surgeon a dietitian and the coordinator. At this time they will tell you exactly how much they want you to lose before surgery. 6. when you get within 5 lbs of your goal you call to schedule your psych appointment with a social worker 7. meet with the bariatric social worker who screens for eating disorders (and in my case required some extra appointments with my psychiatrist and therapist bc of my psych history) 8. meet your goal weight, call in and wait for them to call you with a surgery date 9. once you get surgery date you will have a pre-op appointment with the surgeon. he will do a physical, talk with you again about the surgery and its risks. Sign all the paper work and get all the pre-op info (procedures, lab work, etc.) 10. come in for surgery on your surgery day. and YOU CANNOT BE ONE POUND OVER YOUR GOAL OR THEY WILL SEND YOU HOME. Does that help???

    Is it bad?

thanks guys. the chances of me getting PG are VERY slim since it is not only my issues but severe male factor as well. I guess there will always be this bit of hope in my heart.

    Is it bad?

oh, and of course i know i can get PG after surgery.... that is one of the biggest points in me having the surgery :001_tt2:

    Is it bad?

no, I Am not having second thoughts. It is just that I have been trying to have a baby with my husband for 3.5 years and a piece of me still wishes I could get that ever elusive BFP w/o having to go through surgery. ultimately I want to be healthy before being pregnant for a LOT of reasons. but would i be THRILLED if I ended up pregnant? yes. although I would also be disappointed about losing the chance to have the sleeve as well. it definitely is a conflict in my heart, if you can understand that.

    Is it bad?

sorry, i assumed people would know what it meant. BFP=big fat pisitive. meaning a positive pregnancy test
  12. Today is my pre-op appointment to fill out all the paper work and everything else. So exciting!
  13. this is awesome! yay! PS your home town is not far from my hometown (until I got married) in Selma
  14. oh yay! how exciting! I have my pre-op appointment tomorrow, so I will keep you updated on how it goes. I am not exactly sure what all will happen tomorrow. I know I Will meet with the dr and sign all the pre-op paper work. I will also have an EKG and I THINK meet with the dietitian again.

  15. well, it is very important to consider your DHs opinion. Keep communication open about this topic and as time passes I think you will come to the right decision for you and your DH. GL!

    June Surgery anyone?

Hey Kathy, can you start a list in the first post of who is having surgery on what days so we can keep track? I think that would be nice so we can encourage everyone along the way
  17. I totally understand this... It was honestly the hardest decision to make in the whole WLS deal. Look at it this way: you have already waited 8 years to get the baby you so desire, so what is a short 10-12 months more? You will be upping your chances of success with embryo transfer A LOT and majorly reducing the risks of pregnancy induced hypertension, gestational diabetes, and Pre-E. Overall you will be so much more healthy in pregnancy and in parenthood as well. I had to make this same decision myself and I KNOW I am headed in the right direction FOR ME. Good luck making this very hard decision Robin TTC 3.5 years. Severe PCOS. Four miscarriages. Dx with complex atypical endometrial hyperplasia in '08, now in remission. severe male factor IF.
  18. OMG- so exciting!! How are you feeling? excited? scared? Goodluck to you
  19. I take pics every week so I can visually see the change from one week to the next. It really helps me keep going when I can visually see the progress. I would suggest this to everyone
