  1. Have a great Tuesday - July Bandsters ... good luck with the pre-op of you're an early July (Kevin M) !
  2. Kim, My doc had the surgery done and the idea of the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver so the surgeon can more easily get to the stomach - they have to move the liver to get to it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, My pre op will be: Day 1 and 2 - liquids only (water, shakes, sugar free popsickles, broth) Days 3-12 - protein shakes and 1 lean cuisine - do not exceed 1000 cals a day, The lean cuisine should be under 300 cals Day 13 - 14 - liquids only.

    Chicken poop

I started reading the boards as soon as I saw the surgeon. It was just over 4 months from then when I was approved. Honestly, I try to stay away from the negativity. I'm a 50% pay and with my age and family history - I MUST make this work. There are a lot of success stories out there ... I want to be one of them. I wish you well during your decision making ....stick with these boards - they are wonderful !

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

Great Job, Tammy ... I am so concerned about this pre-op stage ... we can do it !

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

LisaB - I so agree ! The amount of years I've been overweight (my entire life), time and money I have spent on weight loss is astronomical. Yes, I've lost weight but as my PCP says - never really learned good eating habits ... so this is it for me.
  6. yeah ! I'm right after you (7/21). Yes, I am also nervous (very) and excited ! When do you start your pre-op diet? Maybe we'll be doing that together too !
  7. Sorry, no advise on the hemeroids. <-- heck, I can't even spell it ! Short and chunky - I'm with you. I try to skip over anything negative. I'm not trying to avoid the known risks but I don't need anyone (cyber or otherwise) bringing me down ... Alygirl - good luck with those exams !

    Can't Wait

Sounds great ... glad you are back with your plan !

    here we go

Maybe you could go to another surgeon and see if they have a support group? Or a nutritionist who can help? This board is also a huge source of info (for me anyway). Good luck ...

Welcome MissShy - sounds like you're doing great to me - 15 lbs gone is great and sounds like you are on a good walking plan. Keep it up !

Vicky - I do want to create a blog and I want to follow too (yours especially) - do you know if I first have to have a blog to follow? Thanks !

    Treating myself

This isn't an 'along the way' goal - but I so want to be able to wear a pair of boots with casual skirt .... I just love that look My ankles have always been huge (soccer sprains when I was a kid so it's just fat ankles - they are simply out of whack) but if I can get healthy and thin - boots are on the goal list. Amjcal - I guess I am so fearful of the pre-op diet, the liquid and then mushies stages that I just want to surround myself with some indulgences (ie fresh flowers) during that time ...

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

How cute, Amy ! If it doesn't show here - I'll email you. I'm with you - love the July support !
  15. You might even want to work backwards. After your seminar - ask the surgeon' office for recommendations for a primary doctor that is familiar with them. I needed my doc to arrange tests, etc before I was approved.

    counseling for food addiction

Nikki - thanks for starting this thread. I, too, want to seek out some therapy. My surgeon's office has a once a month group but it has not been helpful at all. Aroundtown - thanks for the book recommendation.

New research on how the band works

DaveNW - you mention a dense protein. Can you please give me an example or two? Thanks !

New research on how the band works

Thanks, NJgirl. Breaking the grazing habit is just one more thing for me to work on so the 3 meals and 3 snacks is how I got this way inthe first place !

    Treating myself

Thanks everyone. It seems easier to think of the 'treats' for getting close to goal (clothes, etc) but I want to think about the journey as well. I like the idea of new perfume (something I don't usually splurge on).
  22. Coco's Mum

    Well hello feet!!!

Great news ! I would like to get to my feet too (i.e. toe polish) without doubling over in pain

    Popcorn Pain

I love it ... "I'm a little special" .... that sounds just like me. Hopefully (one day), I'll have your awesome stats and be able to eat popcorn too. Thanks for bringing a big to my face this morning !
