  1. prior to the ibuprofen incident i didnt have any difficulty with the band I had 0.4cc taken out when I was 6months and still had 2.8cc in throughout the rest of the pregnancy.
  2. Hi Ladies, I havent posted in a while I had my baby and just a quick tip do not take the IBUPROFEN. My dr had me take ibuprofen after labor and I had taken it for 6 days which caused my stomache to swell then I was unable to keep anything down, even water it was pretty scary because Im breastfeeding and I definately needed to stay hydrated, but once they defilled some of the fluid I was able to eat later on that day:)
  3. I was able to wear my bigger jean till about 6 months and alot of my bigger shirts were kind of maternity looking. However I did have to buy some maternity pants after the 6th month and I've bought some maternity shirts, but not too much. Yes they were very helpful:) So is anyones port really sticking out now and has it moved away from the port incision scar? My port is more prominant now and some people think its the baby, I feel so bad not telling them its a port but I didnt want anyone to know:( Also my port is no longer directly under the old incision.
  4. Welcome!! I was banded in february 07 lost about 50lbs then became pregnant in june 07 my total fill at that time was 3.2cc I gained about 5 lbs the first 16 weeks then I got defilled 0.4cc total restriction is now 2.8cc .Im now 26 weeks and I've gained an extra 15lbs which my OB doc says is expected. I probably could've done without the defill but I wanted to cut back on my protein shakes and eat more real food:) Now my diet consist of about 4 meals a day and a protein shake. Hope this helped, and congratulations!
  5. Hi Ladies!! Just as an update I had a defill 0.4cc so my current restriction is 2.8cc and man what a difference it makes, I've been eating like theres no tomorrow I've gained 5 lbs since November 3rd total weight gain so far is 12 lbs, yikes! Its otae though as long as I know my bundle of joy is growing up to speed nothing else matter, right gals! Where is everyone at gaining wise? Wow Raynie, Batman theme, you'll have to take pics when its done I cant wait to see it!
  6. Oh no not the flu, I'll definately be praying for you. Try your best to get down fluids you dont want to dehydrate yourself did you doc say you could take anything for the symtoms?
  7. Welcome:) I was 178lbs when I got pregnant.
  8. Great, its good to hear everything went just as planned!
  9. Nope, in fact, as soon as I found out I found an OB doc who I now see all the time. I still havent gotten a defill and Im alreadys 17weeks, I currently have 3.1cc in my band and have only gained 4lbs and baby is fine:) I'm still able to eat also I supplement with my protein shakes, mvi, and iron. I think you mentioned that you were having the lapband done in Mexico, you might want to start looking around the area for a doc that will do your fills/defills. I have monthly appointments with both my surgeon and ob docs, so lots of appointments and close monitoring, but worth the time:) Hope this helps, how did you surgery go?
  10. Its amazing how fast people become fertile after losing weight. Not even clomid worked for me. I too was diagnosed with PCOS, I had my surgery in 02/21/07 and dropped 50lbs four months later became pregnant. I've heard lots of stories like that. If you have any questions let me know. Goodluck to you!
  11. Thanks all for the reply and the support, I feel 100% better as long as I know my baby is safe, moving about actively and has a normal heart rate my mind is at ease. Ive scheduled for a level II Ultrasound next friday, that'll give us a closer look, I'll keep you all posted:)
  12. Im telling you sugar does the trick, I have at least 1 pop tart a day. Still gotta keep an eye one taking in too much sugar b/c I fear that I'll develop gestational diabetes.
  13. Today I had an amniocentesis done, b/c last week my dr informed me that the down syndrome test from the quad screening came back positive. Unfortunately, he poked me twice and was still unable to retrieve a sample:think. He wanted to repeat it next week but I've opted not to, instead I scheduled an appointment with a perinatologist to have a more detailed ultrasound done, I did get to see the baby again which is always a joy, and they thought it might be a girl, but it could always change. Anyone had or have heard of someone having a false-positive?
  14. I use to get headaches all the time, I increased my sugar/protein intake then they went away, I still get them every once in awhile, but not so often. I've heard that the baby takes away alot of our sugar in our body, so your sugar might be low.
  15. Hello, Im 17 weeks now and have gained 4lbs. I didnt really start gaining until I was about 13 weeks. Keep in mind though I also didnt lose as much weight as you did, I was banded february 21, 07 and had only lost 50lbs before I became pregnant. So Im probably still carrying more weight than you are, which means I could afford to avoid the drastic weight gain. My doctor says that the baby is fine growth wise, and that I'd probably not need to gain any weight as long as im taking my vitamins. We're taking it month by month though. I'm going to schedule an appointment with my surgeon for a defill of at least 0.5cc, Ive never had one and Im currently at 3.1cc, but im still able to eat lots of goodies:)
  16. My doc reccomends that I have at least 3 protein shakes a day luckily ive found a really good one that i enjoy drinking. but im really thinking about getting it defilled at least by 0.5cc the whole sliming thing just really scares me i dont want to ruin my band. at first i use to have a hard time sleeping at night but since ive been pregnant ive just been to tired to linger up at night so i just pee and go right back to sleep it also helps if i lay on my left side:)
  17. Have any of you guys experienced "sliming" (When you spit up food you just swallowed, not the same as puking)? I dont really have "morning sickness" Im just more susceptable to "sliming" which was never an issue prior to pregnancy. So I just have to make sure I chew my food extra good, but even when I do sometimes it'll still come up, could it possibly be a different form of getting nauseous from pregnancy hormones, and being more sensitive to other foods? If this continues Im going to ask my doctor to defill at least 0.5cc, that should make a difference.
  18. okay, okay, so i didnt mention the amount of Cereal i contain in a day, its mostly the unhealthy stuff like fruity pebbles which i absolutely love. Im not usually a "sweet" person but since ive been pregnant thats pretty much all i crave for, Cookies, ice cream, popsicles, you know all the high fat, high cal, and high suger foods. Stuff us lappys are suppose to avoid, but it goes down sooo much smoother! i know bad me:( Now im trying to eat healthy since im able to tolerate the other foods, ive even considered V8 juices, wish me luck! Do you guys use Protein shakes, if so how often?
  19. That is sooo nerve wrecking when they cant find anything in the sac. My doc expected that i was 6wk at the time of my 1st us so he was nervous because at 6 wks you should be able to see something, but i was only ~4wks so they wouldnt be able to see anything anyways so that left me nervously waiting. So I feel your frustrations, Im glad your other doc was able to find your lil rice grain he/he!
  20. Hello, my due date is March 31st 2008 so we're very close in time:) So what does your diet consist of these days? Mine consist of a Protein shake & Cereal for brkfst, sometimes tuna for lunch or something thats at least 200 cal, and a shake & about 300cal for dinner. I also take 3 MVI and 2 Iron tabs. I havent had an unfill yet, my current restriction is 2.9cc. I've gained 1 lb so far but that can fluctuate. so hows your lil plum doing?
  21. THanks for your words of encouragement. Since you never got unfilled how much Fluid did you have in your band and did you use the Protein shakes, if so how often?
  22. DooneyJC

    PCOS and lap band

What does your diet consist of? Are you still taking you Protein shakes and superduper Multivitamins? How much are you filled?
  23. For those who are pregnant or were pregnant how often were you unfilled? Did you continue protein shakes (any info on side effects on baby)? and was or is it successful for you?
  24. Hi all, Im about 4 weeks now had lapband 2/20/7 and lost about 45lbs. I was going to get it totally unfilled and was actually looking forward to eating more (i know bad me) but my doc suggest to "wait and see", he also feels that this will help better control my sugar levels which in return will help out in the hormone department. So, no unfill yet, and thankfully no nausea. Im not extremely tight Im able to manage about 1200-1500 cal/day. I take 4 chewable mvi along with 2 Protein shakes. I was very nervous about taking too much supplements, something I'll have to clarify, any suggestions? I never really thought about the port getting damage so that info was reassuring!
