Over 60 and having the sleeve
hi all - kathy here i decided to re-introduce myself just celebrated 25th wedding anniversary wonderful hubby (usually ) 41 year old daughter and son-in-law 3 grandchildren (Morgan, 16 Andrew, 13 Ethan, 10) not heavy as a child - started gaining, gaining, gaining weight as a teen-ager been a member here these past 5 years at GOAL 4 years!!! DOS 12/15/11 sleeved 235 lbs 57 years OLD present 130 lbs 62 years YOUNG success is at your fingertips work hard!! -anything and everything is possible kathy

@@becky ulibarri Deal With It!! "it ain't easy......it ain't easy...........don't let the............... (name that tune)!! i've always considered Water situations are the hardest not drinking while you eat not drinking after you eat for 30-45 minutes (per NUT) drinking 64+ oz a day all of the above are imperative !! listen to others (especially me LOL) People are smart, and helpful here you can bring a horse to water but you can't make him drink!!! you'll be successful sooner than later good luck newbie kathy

@@becky ulibarri i can totalllllly relate 6 weeks PO i was having a lot of trouble trouble my 64 oz water/liquids i couldn't drink that much i ended about going to the hospital re- hydration by IV it was a bummer i'll never forget the date Valentines' Day!!! DH brought flowers to the hospital!! ahhhhh, he is so smart after all, he married me 25 years ago many (not WE) @ LipstickLady drink liquids at room temperature that's what i still do crystal lite is also a winner find that 64 or 32 oz Water bottle - it did help in my case still does i see the glass half full, rather than half empty!! i am 5+ years PO and i still use the bottle good luck bud kathy

LOL I understand being busy problems being dealt with - hard times next time your disappearance might happen please contact your "old" friend or 911 !! already have some gray hairs sob sob i'm sure your running and life will get back to normal sooner than later good for you that you didn't gain ie 20 lbs these past months always had faith in you!!! maintenance is hard under the best of circumstances now with additional problems??!! sounds like you have all your ducs in one row things are moving in the right direction Happy New Year 2017 may it bring health, happiness and joy kathy

@@Andell ahhhhh, at only 12 days PO your wisdom shines through my monitor!! many people here speak about their problems/questions/support but that's what this board is for the "bad" situations/problems sticks out in your mind people should be aware that everything isn't always isn't peaches and cream with WLS but newbies et al should be aware/remember all the good with the WLS too hopefully the good outweighs the bad (it did for me!!) glad things are going well for you keep up the good job kathy congrats

When it's safe to exercise and what type of exercise?
3 weeks post op - when it is safe to exercise? @@Iwillmakeit17 hey bud 3 weeks PO and still around to talk about WLS wow you must/ are doing great i had no problems/complications PO i was doing laps around the hall the next day!!! walking was my first exercise ask your doc about exercise - when and what you are allowed to do for anything else/skipping rope//jumping on one foot listen to your doc for the last/final word (or me!!) LOL you'll do great!! good luck kathy

@@sammysue5 chairs close together at WW is crazy!!! went to movie at 86 yr old moms' retirement home mom and many, many others are hard of hearing all the chairs pushed to the back of the room OP can't hear that far back why would they do that?? kathy

5 year surgiversary - say what?!
yep that's right, you heard me it's been 5 years since i took that stretcher down the long hallway!! hard to believe!! life is soooo different before and after being sleeved too many NSV's to shake a stick at newbies et al, you'll be amazed with changes in your life health issues improved, or are gone that's the main reason i had WLS the fact that i look like a hot sexy grammy doesn't hurt!! losing weight has been one of the highlights of my life i can't imagine my life today or tomorrow as a "heavier"" person life didn't start once i reached GOAL life began the first day at GOAL also called MAINTENANCE !!! one of the few things i still can't do?? leap tall building i still can not touch my tongue to my nose rub my new tummy , pat my head clockwise chew gum standing on one foot but.... still working on it!!! most anything else i can do LOL i have good, better, and a couple of "not so good times!! life can't be fixed as a "thinner" person comes pretty darn close!! i used to be 5"3' - now i am 6" tall!!! i was turning 58 years OLD DOS 5 years later - almost 63 years YOUNG!! i continue to work with my sleeve daily bringing me health, happiness, and success life is good kathy proud 5 year graduate!!!

@@Sykosus oh no!!!! i know it's hard having surgery postponed you are all set, and they pull the plug it's "ONLY" 3 months, feels like a lifetime what is worse than waiting 3 months?? waiting 3 months and a day!!! i received a call from docs office one week before sleeve they postponed WLS for one week one week vs 3 month i feel guilty now that i was so upset on a positive note (yes there is always that) you are having the sleeve done unfortunately it will be later than sooner it WILL happen this extra wait time will prove/show your determination not to mention your patience "God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It" on the true/flip side what a bummer you are going through good luck kathy

@@kelrenee2016 welcome, welcome, welcome long pre-op period/learning a lot is beneficial you probably are ahead of the game i'm sure you prepared for this surgery read a lot on the boards asked your questions saw alot of posts that have/had similar questions to yours KNOWLEDGE is power!! you'll hear good answers, situations, experiences from Soup to "NUTS" LOL remember - at the end of the day ONLY/ALWAYS listen to your NUT (and me too!! LOL) hold on you are in for an experience of a life!!! YOUR life!!! good luck kathy
