  1. I have lost 98, but I still have 33 more pounds to go for my goal and 13 pounds for my Doctor's goal. I don't really have a goal because who knows when I will stop losing.
  2. This is totally nuts. I am like WOW!
  3. I am 8 months out or something like that and sometimes when I go to order food I order like my old self...Alot, but not as much as I used to eat. I all of sudden get paranoid about being able to eat all that food. I have this weird feeling...Why did I get all that food? What if I could eat it all and gain all the weight back. Then I start to eat...still having these feelings...Then after eating hardly anything restriction hits, and I am relieved. I think to myself...why do I get so scared...I know I can eat like I used to. These feelings are irrational. Having this restriction and then realizing that I have it again gives me an overwhelming sense of relief, but the pressure leading up to this repeated revelation is so strange. Anyone else? I believe it was my pattern and that pattern prior to surgery is hard to break, just as my body image will be hard to break. I still view myself as myself...Whether I was fat or thin...I still had just a somewhat ehhh kind of attitude towards myself. I am certain even if I got down to my goal size of 8 I would still not really feel that good about myself. I think in just writing this post at this very moment I realized that back in 2003 when I was so happy...I attributed my happiness to my weight loss, but in fact my weight loss had nothing to do with it. I am fitting in those pants from 2003 today. My happiness back then was because I was a rock star when it came to working out. I could run...I mean run. I flew like the wind and for once it just felt so good to accomplish something so physically demanding. I walked to work. I rode a bike to work. I jogged home. I was always working out. This is a stark comparison than what is going on with me today. I lost the weight without working out at all. My back still hurts, and while I do feel slightly better, I don't have hardly any of that spunk I used to have. What have I discovered about myself today!!! YIKES!!! I really gotta find something physical to do where I can excel and shine.
  4. I took off 2 weeks...I was only taking one, but then realized when I went back to work that I couldn't do it. I really needed 3. I would take off 3 and see how you are after the first week. Maybe you could go back earlier. I am still tired eight months out...Not sure what is going on there. Blood work seems to be ok. Iron Ok. I just attribute it to not eating a lot. My incisions hurt for 5 weeks really bad and then just faded away. I still have a little weird light pain in the big one from time to time, but it really isn't bothersome. I sometimes miss being able to shove a whole hamburger in my mouth at once, but really I love the fact that I can only eat a little amount. I don't have eater's remorse anymore...Even when I splurge on movie popcorn with LOADS of butter I still don't have remorse. I can't finish the bag and that is really all I will eat for the night so it is not like I am going to throw down some chinese food later. I didn't have any nausea or gas, but it did not me like 5 days to go #2. I really never thought about this, but I used to be in the bathroom A LOT before surgery, but now...Just once a day and it is like a little bloop and it is over. That is pretty cool! If you are not telling your family I can only imagine what they would think when you put like one piece of turkey and a little plop of mashed potatoes. You should load your plate and then eat what you can and then when they ask why aren't you eating you could say...THIS IS MY 2ND PLATE I CAN'T EAT ANYMORE I have lost almost 100 pounds in 8 months. I guess if I hadn't of told anyone I could have said I went on a diet, but no one would have believed me. I also would have felt bad...I literally had surgery and lost the weight. I personally think it was an easy path, but it was also the smart path. Keeping the weight off is like a job. Your tummy wants to eat eat eat eat eat...I am certain if a cocaine addict could remove something in them that makes them want to do drugs they would remove it. We remove some of our tummy. No more constant need to eat and eat and eat and eat. We can't over eat anymore or it feels awful. Eight months out, and I can drink faster...Which is great. I just don't overdrink. I don't over anything anymore. NO OVEREAT NO OVERDRINK NO OVERWEIGHT
  5. I love this post. I really do. This is exactly how I feel. I didn't look uphappy, I just was always crying. I was crying like every other day. Smiling and crying at the same time. I only cry at sad movies now with an occassional cry before I get my period...But I am not crying about my weight, my hair loss, my flabby thighs or anything that has to do with me.
  6. Am I the only one who is thinking...How did she eat all of that? No really? How were you able to eat all of that? I took my first bite of an egg one month out and threw it up. I wasn't even ready for solids. But even if I were ready I can't even eat that much now, and I am 7 months out. I know everyone is different, but if your stomach was actually cut properly shouldn't you have more restriction? I feel like those that don't have that crazy restriction like I had and most people have should seek legal representation. This surgery has been done ALOT and there are certain standards out there procedurally and also some trends in what we can eat 1 month to one year to two years after surgery. If I could eat all of that food without feeling any restriction I would file a lawsuit. That is just me...But you could still be numb, not feel anything and be eating so much that you rip your stomach open. I don't think you would not feel it, but I guess anything is possible.
  7. I am not a believer in the "your body holds onto the calories" because you are starving yourself. That would be impossible if you were eating less than what your body needs. It needs those calories so it uses them - it wouldn't store something it needs. It would just stop using the energy for less important things...like hair growth. Why would you put the milk away if you needed it for your cereal? If you are stalling it is because your calories are equaling the amount of energy needed on a daily basis so there is no need for your body to use your fat. You are not starving...Your body has adjusted and slowed your metabolism down. Shaking things up makes your body confused...you have to keep that burn going. I believe in order to do this you should do small workouts throughout the day and one big workout and up your calories for a couple of days and then cut them back off. Eat carbs and then don't eat carbs. Work out normal and then work out harder. Change it up. So take like 3 days...EAT MORE and WORK OUT MORE. Get your body to say ok food is coming so I need to use that and the fat stores. THEN cut yourself off from the extra calories and work out. You will lose alot. Then just relax for a few days and then do it again. I am not a doctor or fitness expert. I am not currently doing any excersize, but back when I got down to 180 in 2003 this is what I did.
  8. I also had my surgery in June 2011. I am losing slowly too, but 2 pounds a week is great - I think. I am finally under 200 and looking towards the 180's. As long as I lose I am happy. I lost 2 pounds this week. I think doing things differently, shaking things up, works. Sometimes I eat a lot and sometimes I eat a little. I don't force myself to eat and really only eat when I am hungry. I stop eating when I am full. I DO NOT DRINK anything with calories 90% of the time. So sometimes I will have a sugar drink or coffee and sugar, but it isn't often. I actually do not think about it. I just eat, drink, sleep and only weigh in once a week. I was so hungry yesterday and felt that I just kept eating so I ate. I didn't tell myself no...Maybe my body needed some food. I just don't want to care anymore. The weight is gone and now I just want to care about my fitness and my body. I want to actually try to get my body in good shape before I think about plastics. So that really needs to be my focus now. I have lost my BUTT completely so I really need to work on that Shake things up. Go dancing. Just do something different...But I do think 2 pounds a week is GREAT. I am 193 today! If I lost 2 pounds a week until my year anniversary I would weigh 161. My goal is 160 which is agressive I think. I would be happy at 180. I do need to get to 180 so I can fit into clothes at any store. I am not there yet. Even 180 might be a stretch for any store. I tried 14 jeans on at express and they did not fit AT ALL. But then I try other 14's on and they fit. I hate shopping right now still. 180 and working out should do it.
  9. 1 egg over easy, 1/2 piece of scrapple and three bites of a pancake. I can not eat another bite!
  10. I am 5'10" I currently weigh 196...doctor's scale said 193 . I wear a 12 top. I could not fit in 14 express jeans and lane Bryant 14 is too big for me now. So I really do not know. I fit in 12 dresses. 14 is too big. I need to buy long jeans and the 14's I tried on were regulars so maybe that is why they don't fit? I am still in a shopping funk and do not like the mall. I am still intimidated by the non fat girl stores. I also can feel my hip bone right under my skin so I am not 100% sure if my hips would ever let me get into a size 8.
  11. I can eat a lot more. I ate a grilled chicken sandwich on a regular bun with no toppings or sauces. Months ago I could only eat 1/2, but if I take 30 to 40 minutes I can eat the whole thing. I noticed that the restriction is way less on those slider foods so I have refocused on protien first. Protien first really works ... It also depends on how much I ate and how my sleeve is feeling, but hell yes I can eat a lot more!!!!
  12. Almost 8 months out and this signal has been going on for about a month. I make a plate and if I am done I look at the plate and take a deep breath like...I am done...no more...that's enough. It always happens unless it was just a small snack like a piece of cheese. I just don't want anymore. I feel fine, no sick feeling I just know if I keep eating I will probably get sick. I don't have the hiccups anymore. Sometimes I can eat a lot more than another day, but no matter what I have an automatic system and most of the time there is always still food left over. I also don't feel bad anymore about throwing it away if it isn't something that I can reheat.
  13. I am losing my hair left and right. Just tell them you are on the Atkins diet and it could be one of the side effects. I said this before, and I will say it again...I was crying everyday like my life was about to end because I was a big fatty. I have shed almost 100 pounds and probably 1/2 my hair and have not cried once. I AM A BIG CRY BABY. No one will notice unless you live with someone, but you probably have shorter hair.
  14. I feel like the sleeve goes where it wants to go and you have to do the rest. I am waiting to see where I stop. I feel ok with the food choices I am making now for the long run. I have a few more months until my year, and I have not worked out at all. I feel a little more hunger taking over at times so I have some good Snacks I can reach for. I want to be 165 at 5'10" so I think you could go lower, but I am certain we both will have to hit the gym like we want to win biggest loser in order to be on the skinny side...but then again who really knows. Some people got very thin without working out at all. Personally I say don't have a goal. I don't anymore. I could get to 150 or 170 or stop tomorrow. My goal will come once I have reached the end of what the sleeve can do for on its own.
  15. Susan Frese Crime Museum 575 7th Street, NW Washington, DC 20004 I WOULD LOVE SIZE 12s DRESSES OR EVEN 10s!!!!!!! THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. I had this too. I was very scared. It goes away on its own and the ppi had nothing to do with it. Just relax and know it will go away.
  17. I only read a little bit, but in terms of food addiction...I am certain that part of it is true...however now that I am not hungry as much and even when I am I don't crave the foods I used to. I still really feel like my stomach capacity was so large that it took so much food in order for me to even feel satisfied. I never ate so much that I nearly split my pants (LOL) but I could eat ALOT! Overtime I feel the stomach stretches to the point where all of our body parts cry out for MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE. So it isn't an addiction in the sense that there is a withdrawl feeling...It is an addiction in the sense that it takes more and more to satisfy us. I don't even care about sugar anymore and it was immediate. Once the stretched out stomach was reduced. The cravings for food went away. So why did I eat sugar and fried food when I was fat? It was easy. Even to this day I eat easy. It is just a soup can fill me up whereas before a soup would only fill me up if I had a huge piece of bread with a salad.
  18. I really have no $ to buy clothes and pretty much everything looks baggy. If anyone has some size 12 clothes please ship them to me. Dresses are GREAT! I will take anything! PM me!
  19. I have never heard of this? I guess because I could only shop at lane Bryant . What is this?
  20. I hate shopping...sizes are so random from store to store. I am on my 8th month and I have nothing. The dress I wore today was a hand me down and it was super baggy. My winter coat is fine for this winter, but it is now too big. I love the change of course, but trying all these clothes on knowing that in a month they won't fit is super annoying. I have this bag of hangers...like 50 hangers that used to have something on them. I have about 15 items of clothing, and the dress I wore today has to go. So that leaves 14. It is probably the worst part of surgery for me...but even though it is the worst part...I will take it. What is even crazier is that I have to buy something the day before I wear it (special occassions) which gives me no time to figure out what size I am or what will look good on me. I have a wedding to go to in March, a bridal shower in Feb and a bachelorette party. Can you tell I just don't like shopping
  21. In my entire life...with the exception of the early years I have always worn a shirt or shorts when I went swimming. I do look back and think I wasn't that big so why did I feel so horrible about myself and my body. I guess my family and other school children played a part in my overall lack of self esteem. I was 180 in high school and my skin was fine so I really don't understand why I always wanted to cover up. I believe those moments as a child helped me to get even bigger as an adult. Wherever this journey takes me and whatever I need to do to feel like a swim suit model or at least happy in a one piece I am going to do. Then I want to go to a nasty public water park (oh the germs) and be ok with walking around without any sort of cover up - just sun screen I feel at that point I will free myself of all the years of self hatred. I just wasn't sure what you were seeing from a loose skin perspective as I have read on many plastic surgeon's blogs that in some cases they have to do lipo first before they even start the skin removal process. I feel just like you when it comes to the not really trying and I do really need to work on getting in shape. I have not worked out one bit! Baby steps I guess! Thanks for sharing with me. I like to hear from tall women because we don't go down in sizes like our shorter counterparts or at least as fast. I am somewhere between a 12 and 14 depending on the designer. I couldn't even fit in a 2x shirt from wal-mart. Sizes are so crazy!
  22. Your goal is 190? How do you feel? I am 5'10" and 197 as of today I was thinking a goal of 160. I still see a lot of weight that could come off. Do you feel super thin or just right? Do you want to lose more than 190? 180 was the goal set by my Doctor, but I have been 182 and still could lose so I said 160. I am ok with anywhere between 160 and 180, but I do want to be thin thin (size 8 or lower) for once in my life. Because we are tall I believe our skin is slightly in a better position than a shorter person...how is yours. At 197 I can see that it is loose, but not deflated like I see in other pictures. I am still far from goal, but I can't see 40 more pounds really making that big of a difference when it comes to skin. Let me know Congrats! I haven't even started working out yet.
  23. I am in month 7 now. It is still coming out. Looks really weird when it is wet. Not noticible yet. I don't take anything. I don't see any regrowth yet. I don't really care too much, but having to clean up all the hair everyday is getting to be a chore. I have to color it again and I don't want to. The last time soooooo much came out. I do see a lot of people posting the 10th month mark as when they noticed it coming back. Everyone is different. Try not to stress.
  24. I really suffer from SAD. It is the winter! I lived in Florida and didn't have any problems. I am tired too. I think I am going to make an appointment too.
