  1. In terms of foods that you can relate to, at 3 years out, these are foods I can eat if I choose to. I rarely do eat fast food though.

I can eat most of a Jr Whooper.

I take off some of the bread.< /p>

I can eat most of a leg and thigh and cole slaw at KFC

I can eat a soft taco or a crunchy taco from taco bell

I can eat half a sandwich

I can eat about a 4 oz steak with some veggies

I can eat 2 pieces of thin crust pizza

    Does that help?

I think that I should add though, that this is actually quite a bit more than I could eat at one year. This is probably the amounts I could eat at 2 years, and it's not changed since then.

This is NOT encouraging :) LMAO! I can eat all of that now :) LOL...

  2. Ok...so I should puree a can of Soup (no chunks). Any other ideas? Thank you!

I lived off pureed Soups because it was the only thing that tasted good. Chilli was great! The first time I ate an egg I threw it up and waited a week. I pretty much consumed soup for the first six months.

I ate soup, protien drinks (fruity ones), but chocolate protien with some milk and ice is quite good. I can't drink the whole thing because it starts to taste yucky, but I can tolerate some of it. I ate Jello and frozen pops. I really at soup. That is it. I would buy the fresh Soups from the grocery store that were not in a can. chicken Chilli, Bean Chilli...Chicken noodle was ok too. chicken and rice ok.

  3. I am 2 weeks post op. I drink sugar free drinks throughout the day as well as some sf pudding, yogurt and Jello. My doc said to start purees. Everytime I try something new I'm terribly sick and vomit. eggs made me sick, a little mashed potato made me sick as well as very thin oatmeal. Am I doing this wrong? Am I eating the wrong things? Feeling down...

I didn't eat food for 5 weeks. Purees is not eggs. It is maybe a chilli and then you puree it in a blender. I wouldn't even say oatmeal is a puree. It still has to be liquid, just a little thicker. Mashed potatoes is too thick. So if you take some Soup and puree it you still should strain it to get any little chunks out.

  4. I probably lost so much because I wasn't working out...I have lost all my muscle. It is gone. I am a weakling now. That is why I caution everyone to start working out prior to the surgery. I didn't track anything or work out either and I never stalled. I just stopped eating when I was full and didn't eat again until I was hungry. I am going to the gym next week to see if there is anything I can do to repair the muscle loss. I am only 12 pounds heavier than my best friend and I am an inch taller than her...however she is 18% body fat and I am probably 40 still. So she looks crazy skinny...I am skinny, but not super model skinny.

I did however try to get as much Protein as I could.

  6. June13sleever how far are you post op. I know that i'm 13 months out and I can eat more. I still try to keep my portions small but sometimes get hungry about 2 hours later. I'm trying to drink teas and more Water to balance it. I eat more when I'm home and bored. I am really going to focus on preparing my foods instead of eating out. I am also going to weigh my foods also. Now I'm getting back in the game to loose about 5 lbs so I will be at 140 lbs. I have started eating candy and it's time to quit that......

I am 17 months out. The difference between 13 months and 17 months is pretty significant for me in terms of how much I can eat. Of course in the AM I can only eat like a little bird, but at night I feel like I could eat two microwave meals! I still can only get through a little less than one lean cuisine, but two hours later I am hungry again. I do try to drink which helps, but then once everything is cleared out...I wanna eat something! I just go for lunch meat wrapped in a piece of cheese. That seems to be working...HOWEVER...all of that eating adds up! The scale was only .5 pounds which could be anything. Maybe this is my forever weight :)

  7. I am 5'11" ...you can see my stats in my signature. I was sooooo scared of losing too much, but I hardly have restriction now so I am soooooo scared of gaining. Well, anyhoo I started at 191 and weigh 161 now. If I had skin removal surgery I would weigh 150 :) I am anywhere from a 6 to a 10 in size...which means I have to try on everything because no two designers are alike, but I start with an 8 and either go up or down or an 8 is just right. I would like to get down even further, but that would require some serious working out since I can't cut my calories anymore. My hair still hasn't grown back at all. It looks like there are some little hairs sprouting up, but those could be broken hairs so I really don't know. Everyone says I look skinny skinny, but I don't feel that skinny :) I need some plastics, but the fear of another surgery or losing anymore hair isn't worth it at this time. I really wanted to wear a bathing suit and I still won't. My inner thighs are horrible and my butt is saggy. I still don't cry about it like I did about being overweight so I must be ok.

  8. Those 2 links that you posted is what I believe to be true. I also believe that over time the stomach empties faster, which makes it possible to eat more soon after completing a meal. I guess the moral of the story would be to be kind to your sleeve and not over do it when it comes to eating.

I feel like there is some merit to this. Maybe more stomach acids? I though about taking a PPI for a few days just to see what happens. I stopped taking them long ago. If you stop the acid the food might take longer to digest? I will test that starting tomorrow. I am 17 months out, and I can eat ALOT more! I find that it can go through me much faster. I still eat and then get full, but the time in which I am hungry again is much shorter than before.

  9. I am really scared. I can eat WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more. My hair hasn't grown back so a part of me wants to gain a little to maybe see if this will help my hair. I didn't weigh myself this Monday because I was so scared to see the scale. I am going to do it now. I probably get 1600 calories now. Sometimes more. That is alot. I am tall, but I seriously do not want to gain. I am going to get the resting metabolism test done. I just don't know what to do. I eat some tuna and then 2 hours later I am actually hungry. It seems to be getting worse. Nights are the worst!

  10. Now that I have stopped losing I am losing my hair normal now. I am hoping now maybe it will start growing back :) and I am wondering if hair regrowth is a sign that your body is going into it's maintenance phase. I would love to actually get out their and start doing research to come up with some consistent strategies to avoid stalls, look at hair re-growth. I mean since this surgery is still new I feel like our doctors should have us also be sort of like lab rats and have a monthly questionnaire. There is nothing.

  11. And the newbies in this site...there are no set standards for the surgery. My nutritionist was telling me to eat 1200 calories two weeks after I had surgery and telling me to drink 64 ounces...so what do most people in this board do...panic... They panic because they can't get their protien in, they panic because they can't drink all the Water thief dumb ass nutritionist is telling who 99% of the time has no clue what they are talking about because they have never had this surgery. They don't talk about ketosis...I am on here telling people that you will be able to eat again. A lot more. And weight gain is possible. Lose as much as you can in the beginning. That is all I saying. You can do what you want and I expect everyone to do their research, but I hate hate hate seeing people who can't get those last pounds off and who are losing slow. We all go through this major surgery expecting to get thin and healthy. I just want everyone to reach their goal.

  12. The whole health v. Vanity issue makes me laugh. My doc said most of his patients gain weight back. So if you can get below goal it is best because you will gain some back. I struggle with that everyday now. It is easy!!! I also believe if you strive to lose as much as possible and committ to it once you get to two years out and you could easily gain you will have the mindset in place that you are not going to take it. If you are just ho hum about it...I am just going to eat 1000 calories and be healthy...(which is a load crap) you will just be content with not making it to goal if you hapoen not to make it. You have an opportunity in the first six months to go crazy! So do it.

  13. While I love being called a troll, I honestly am not upset with the people on this board who are fighting with me on this one. It is the same person who couldn't get the last 40 off in my support group. You will reach a stopping point. My doctor also set my goal weight at 180. Of course he did... They want to show a success rate. My goal was 170, but I stopped at 160. You can totally live off your own fat through ketosis. Your body will not hoard onto your fat and go into starvation mode because that would be impossible. It will use your fat...the protien you eat avoids major muscle loss. The doctor on this board even says 500 calories the first six months. Some people might be lucky and keep losing...but what risk do you want to take? Do you want to eat 1000 calories lose weight slow and hope you get all the weight off in a year or two years or do you want to take the first six months and use the fact that the majority of you will not be hungry and lose as much as you can? That is your choice. One of the diets I was on...I tried...through Frederick Hospital was a liquid diet...you eat 600 calories of liquid until you get to your goal weight. When you have to drop weight fast for surgery they don't tell you to eat 1000 calories. They put you into ketosis. It is short term and you will come out of it.

  14. You don't decide unless you are losing too much...which was my fear, but thankfully I did stop. You might be able to take a few bites more and then it just magically stops.

I went from eating only 1/2 of a Stoffer's Entree (Green Pepper Steak) at month 6 to 3/4 at a year and now I can eat the whole thing and still be hungry an hour to two hours later. So when you are looking for that satisfied feeling it takes more food to get there.

You are at a great weight. Do you want to lose more? If so, then lose more if you can. I know if I had skin removal surgery I would have 10 pounds of skin so I am ok where I am, plus I am trying my best not to gain so It would be really hard to lose anyway.

If you want to stop then you have to just find the amount of calories that keeps you where you are. Someone said she had to add gravy to her meals and maybe a little butter here in there or avacado so she wouldn't lose anymore.

Do you want to lose more?

  15. I posted on the pinned one on the other forum. Which this should just get deleted because the same posts are in that one! LOL! I was the first one to call BS, and I got the shut hell up bite back from the members. It is BS. If this stuff really worked we would know about it and we wouldn't have to ask what works. Advil takes the pain away...we know advil. The stupid skin tightening procedures would be like advil to us. My skin will never go back. I was fat when I was 15 in my thighs and that skin is the worst. That is 20 years of stretched skin with stretch marks. No wrap is going to fix that. Maybe some Lipo, but everything that might work is surgical in nature or just plain old surgery. It is like when people say the cold weather makes you sick. Bacteria and germs make you sick. Going out in the cold without a jacket does not make you sick.
